Honestly I think a lot of issues comes from the fact that 99% of the time, these controversial plot devices are just done so horribly. You have some authors that put a random rape scene that added nothing to the plot except unneeded angst and drama which did nothing to better the story as a whole. Not sayin I would like a “well done NTR/Rape” but I would at least appreciate the story if it was well done. Still would drop it tho.

 

I like NTR with a deep story
I like what comes before or after it which is revenge and a possible cycle of a never ending NTR
But yeah, some just absurd with blackmail and pride-over-purity thing.

 

ntr is a wierd fetish. most people fantazise with good feel vibe things. thats a natural thing to want and imagine. ntr is a gut wrenching scenario were your OTP gets stolen from you with your OTP being mind broken into liking it.

on the the otherhand, netori (MC stealing the OTP) is ok with me. so, i dont know what to say really. im ok with taking things but you better not touch my S#@T!

NTR, like harem, usually means something different than its actual definition.

NTR means an established relationship being betrayed by one of the partners. Usually a girl betraying the love of a boy.

When people use the term NTR what they usually mean is the fetish of having a girlfriend/wife being raped.

If a girl is violated repeatedly and is eventually mind-broken, this is often called NTR but it’s not. The girl did not betray the love of her partner, she was just victimized. In a real NTR scenario it is the partner who is victimized. For example the housewife in Kami-sama no Game; she eventually chose to give herself to the MC, not just physically but emotionally too — that’s a straight up NTR of a guy who’s been happily married to her for 11 years. Also, in the sequel (Devil’s Game) the husband actually appears in the game on the opposing side in order to bring back the now dead housewife — the tradegy being he probably has no idea she NTR’d him, and if she is brought back it would be after she NTR’d him. Felt really sorry the dude, I hope he doesn’t get killed off.

Tho it depends on the protagonist, netori tend to have better/more likable MCs

If most of the works didn't have such terrible and obvious plot things would be different.
