To be brief. I wanna know, if perhaps, there is an entertaining chinese novel that doesn't has a man lead (in a romantic way). I have read many chinese novels with all kinds of female main characters that ended up having a male, most of the time being the cold type to all women that melts only to the female lead. I quite enjoy chinese novels with female main characters because I find interesting the schemes created by the autor and the solutions to them and the face slapping, of course. Then I started to think if these type of women truly need a man to support them. And the thought suddenly became craving, but as I searched myself for a novel that can satisfy my needs, only disappointment was what I got. So please tell me if perhaps there is hope for my craving? P.S: This is what i thought while writing the thread: It is quite interesting to see that chinese novels with female main charaters use the head to solve problems, while male main charaters just use the fist....Being a man myself to see this is quite disheartening, are we such beasts?
I can only think "Doomsday Wonderland" but I only read few tens of chapters and dropped it. So, there might be some cold-man paired up with her later in the story but I doubt it. Edit: As for your "PS", you need to read novels with smart MC, cunning MC etc. tags. Not all the male MC use fists to solve all problems. The reason you see female main characters use their head more often compared to male main characters is because; about more than 90% of light novels have male MC. So you have more chance to read one which has stupid MC. There is less novels with female lead and even less of them is being translated. So, there is less chance for you to see a stupid female mc.

Eh, this is partially a setting issue. A lot of female MCs in Chinese novels are living in a man's world, especially when looking at anything with an ancient setting, even if it's a cultivation/xianxia ancient setting. Women generally can't officially command military power or run an official spy network so they have to take control of their family's resources or take control of a man's resource. Then when you throw in that women need to use men's resources to get anywhere, sexual tension often directly influences the MC's relationship with others. Then throw in the wish fulfillment aspect and the only 'correct' ML is the one who hasn't established a harem yet and only has eyes for the MC. And why hasn't ML established a harem yet? Because he's an ice cube who can only be melted by the FL! There are stories with strong FLs and weak MLs where their romantic dynamic falls very flat because of the author purposely weakening the ML to not take the spotlight from the FL. For example, the Legend of the White Haired Demoness falls into this category. (Lian Ni Chang also generally solves problems with her fists, as per standard in wuxia novels.) There are also stories with FLs who are so OP there being an ML is just a side effect (Side Character Transmigrations: The Final Boss is No Joke is a good example of this). Can you be more specific as to what type of setting you're looking for? Are you looking for a 0 romance novel with a female lead or are novels with reversed dominance also cool?
If you are searching for female protagonist Chinese novel, it is very rare to find such case, if the ML is kind or innocent, the MC could easily end up looking bad because usually, the Female MC in Chinese novel is a little cold or ruthless, imagine a woman corrupting an innocent man to murder, and there is also the problem said by autumnscarf. This one is JP novel but I feel that it fit, the male lead showed no sign of appearing at the beginning (the MC didn't need the ML to survive, the MC is smart), and ML is not the cold type. The Concubine's Daughter is Poisonous AKA The Princess Wei Yang - badass, cold, calculating MC who uses everyone around her. That includes using the men around her. There is eventually a love story with her lover helping her out but she pulls most of her weight. However, she's cruel and there is some unusual punishment in this one. Revenge porn-- not everyone's cup of tea, but great for imperial court drama. This is a woman who steps on a LOT of men (and women) in a man's world. Also features a badass female antagonist for the second half of the story. My Disciple Died Yet Again - Master/disciple relationship but the disciple is on her own a lot of the time and it's mostly a standard mentor/mentee relationship in terms of how much the mentor protects her. Romance is a minor aspect. An Oddette's Otherworld Odyssey - Two transmigrators and a Reincarnator walk into a cultivation novel... this one's pretty lighthearted, but there isn't much translated yet. Half Prince - A comedy featuring a woman who plays a male character in a VR game to stick it to her brother. There's romance in it but the focus is around a party system so it's more like adventuring with comrades. The Legend of Chu Qiao: Division 11’s Princess Agent - Special agent transmigrated to a little girl in a crapsack world. I've only read part of this, but it's solid. The protagonist can't depend on anyone but herself up front and her later alliance with a guy doesn't gain her much up front since his circumstances aren't great. However, it's a Qidian International novel. On my list that I haven't read yet so no reviews but which might fit what you're looking for: Reign of the Hunters; Crossing to the Future, It's Not Easy to Be a Man (Qidian); The Girl Who Bore the Flame Ring; Cultivating to Become a Great Celestial. Are you fine with GL? If yes, this is very promising Female General And Eldest Princess MC, as you can guess, is a soldier, so she depends on herself. Mhh, I guess you could like even Seven Unfortunate Lifetimes, All Thanks to a Single Moment of Impulse , MC and ML relationship is not static at all, they both do things for the other. Female Warrior fits too what you want I think, but it's a prologue to another serie, and you can enjoy it more if you read it after the main serie…. but I guess it can work as standalone too. It's kinda only a preview of the whole story tho, dunno if and when the author plan to write more of it. There is no ML here, just comrades.

This novel "The Empress' Livestream" is the first chinese novel that I found that the FL is so strong and smart that doesn't need any ML. But since this is historical and the FL is running to be an Emperor, she has a lot of man on her side (A strategists) and one of the person she has her eyes on is one of her strategist. That ML is just a supporting role and just cleaning the future threat. No more romantic scene like other chinese novel because the ML has weak foundation and just have a great talent so most of the time, he is at the bottom lol. While the FL is so strong, smart and dependent on herself. This story is good, highly recommended. And Oh, the FL is Livestream worldwide (different dimensions) so it's interesting to read. And this The Empress' Livestream has 1000+ chapter ❤️
Apocalypse Lord There is a Male character who's interested in the FL but she doesn't really see him in a romantic light and they didn't get together even by the end.
