I'm very curious to read this novel, the earlier I was wondering if it has some things like for example: does the protagonist create subordinates or will he own them? I believe this is my biggest doubt because I'm just reading this novel to see a story that the protagonist will have subordinates type Overlord.
He has a few people who are loyal to him, but not the same time of fanatic devotion as the NPCs in Overlord. They also get very little screen time. Like most cultivation stories Great Demon King mainly focuses on the protagonist getting stronger, and his adventures along the way.
He creates a few powerful undead subordinates with necromancy + constant refining (xianxia devil arts) Part of the initial refining is some of his blood so they consider him their parent, so they are 100% loyal. A bit like with Overlord I guess... But not really. There's varying degrees of usefulness throughout the novel. I think they get a fair amount of screen time though and actually they're quite key later on from the halfway point to the end of the novel.
he has allies and enemies, the story focuses a lot on him, he meets his wives, his allies may have some screen time and his interaction with powers in the world and how he gains power. The mc is kind of like Bone Daddy in Overlord cause all cares about is his friends and allies, he does not give two shits about others. His morality is not Mr nice guy, he kills his enemies brutally but the difference is he has a kind side to him and goes out of his way for his wives and friends. The only people who are loyal to him but are also powerful enough to take care of themselves is the Spoiler: Spoiler here little skeleton and the zombies, they also grow powerful especially the little skeleton.
For the Necromancer part, he is constantly studying it, it is a main part of the story He is using summoning magic to summon hordes of zombies and skeletons Or attacks with bone spears and acid
