Kinda new to posting on Forums, but just want to commend all staff and members for a great job on maintaining NovelUpdates. Interesting to see people really try to improve the site through community curation. At least most novels are objectively (somewhat) rated by the community.

I read both Chinese and English translated novels. It's such a pain trying to figure out good novels to read on the chinese sites, since they are all hosted by the web publishers and very biased. It's a big relief to shortlist good novels here that were filtered by the community/translators. At least members actually spend some time to give decent reviews and not just nonsense rants/paid reviews like other asian sites.

Appreciate if anyone will let me know of objective chinese sites for web novels. The amount of asian novels that finally gets translated to English is such a small segment, feel like I'm missing out on good Chinese novels.

Wait! What?! Did NU just get commended for (somewhat) objective ratings/reviews?! :blobastonished:

And here I thought we only had whiners who only knew how to complain about the rating/review system. :blobwhistle:

Objective is a big word, but ...

Amen. Some of us do like the average ratings and the reviews. They've been so useful to me.

you should really stop while you still can. it's basically like a drug, short moments of pleasure followed by boringness and melancholy for the rest of the day.

Well the rating hasn't fail me so far for JP and KR novel, but I have opposite problem as you because CN here is the one I am being skeptical of rating. As this is a problem only unique to CN because of how long they are compare to JP and KR novel that most of the good review or rating usually came from the beginning that seem very promising, but quickly become the generic mess you should had expected after it went beyond a thousand chapter and at that point most reader had became to invested to stop even when it turned to shit.

Agreed, hard to properly rate marathon novels since they have a tendency to drop off. "Forty Millenniums of Cultivation" was great for the 1st 1000+ chapters and I rated it highly, then it got weird and super repetitive.
Nowadays I look out for well written reviews and make a note of which chapter the reviewer ended at. More weight to reviewers who either completed or read most of it.
