Correct. I think at this point WWX was still hiding the fact that he was indeed Wei Ying. So he knew the corpses would react to him and hid behind LWJ. When the corpses ran away WWX told LWJ he was amazing and that's why the corpses ran away. LWJ looking at him speechless, was likely thinking, how the heck is he lying so straight forwardly!!!!

Yup, yup~ Weny Bear became the first ever fierce corpse with intelligence! ❤❤ After that a lot of cultivators whether following the righteous path or demonic one wanted to create their own "Ghost General" but of course they failed miserably. Even worse was that these failed experiments these idiots made resulted in them creating a "Human corpse" I forgot what the actual term is called in the novel, but remember that lady in Yi city arc? The one who opened her door to let Wei & the young disciples in while they were under corpse poisoning? Wei said she was alive but had the characteristics of a walking corpse, and I think eventually they end up becoming a full walking corpse if it's not treated early, with the lady in the shop she was already beyond help I think...
I need to reread that arc! I thought the people there were like walking corpses because of something Xue Yang did and everyone in the city had been poisoned with the powder stuff speaking of that arc, now that I know what WWX did for JC, I think it's interesting how there's a bit of a parallel between them and XXC and SL. where XXC gave up his eyes for SL and WWX gave up his core for JC (and doing so for both essentially led to the giver's death)! yet, I only ship XXC/SL, not WWX/JC, heh
