Judging a Novel by it's Title

I like scrolling through the lists on NUF to read the available titles. Inevitably, you have those long titles that just make ya wanna . Other titles I read and find interesting, then read the blurb and it's all interesting so I put it in my own lists for later. I don't always get to them, but hey putting them in categories I like is kinda fun too.

So my question is this, when you scroll through the lists, have you ever found a title that really stood out and you reacted strongly. It could be negative or positive; I'm not judging.

I don't judge the novel by its title but the description itself... but sometimes, there are some titles that totally screams of "cringe"... like lord of all realms and godly student...

 

I sometimes click on a title if it sounds remotely interesting. Then move on to the description and rating. That said, some novels have more confusing descriptions than the title. Thus I think more novels should have descriptions written by translators. This goes triple for CN novels.

 

Some novels give the whole synopsis with the title....In cases like that it's pretty easy to get a relatively good idea of the novel just by its title. There will always be exceptions though~

 

I actually think Lord of All Realms is a decent novel, considering there are novels like Wu Dong Qian Kun that are just the same stuff repeatedly cycled with different names.

 

Why does the title stand out for you to post here? So curious...

That is exactly what happens to me with the title I post! I just can't get past the title to click for further info.

I get that too, but then I think you run into all other sorts of problems. I mean, as an author I would be peeved if someone changed the name of my novel without my consent. Also, you will get purists that will disagree with you. But I have to say, some titles just go on and on and on and I want to change them myself.

 

I don't mind novels that repeat tropes...so long as they do it in an original way OR make it the premise of the whole novel for starters like Doomed to be Cannon Fodder.

 

I kinda auto skip something that have a "god", "emperor", "genius" etc2 on it..
I asume everything is like a different version of PMG .

 

I don't usually mind the title, I just browse the chapter titles, they give of a impression how the novel is and how it might go in the future.

This title just oozes cringy CN tropes, haven't read it and I probably won't ever because it's a CN romance...

 

Umm, no. Wu Dong Qian Kun doesn`t merely repeat tropes, but also its own plotline over and over again, merely changing power levels and every character other than the MC.

 

Most novel with female mc on qidian tbh the titles make u cringe.

I generally judge partly on title, partly on description and mostly on chapter count. Any series that has over 2k chapters is on the shit list due to endless repetition. Add in series with names like "Never marry a man with two tin tin's" and you've basically settled in on what I'd like to avoid seeing. That plus description pretty much made my wtf list for novels I've seen pop up on nu.
