Looking for a story featuring a protagonist similar to Kiritsugu from Fate/Zero or Goblin Slayer from Goblin Slayer. He doesn't have to be overpowered or possesses genius level intellect. I simply want to see someone who can deal with foes through proper planning and knows when to retreat. Dark stories preferred. Fanfictions, RRL, and other English novels are welcomed too! Sevens, the mc is an idealist and a realist, he's Kiritsugu Emiya and Shirou Emiya combined, kinda hard to imagine, but he's a type of person who will use any detestable means necessary in order to achieve his goal but will always take responsibility for it. It's a light story but there are some dark undertones in it.
Well, there's Legend of the Galactic Heroes, though you have to buy it, fortunately, the anime is completed. LoGH is a story of an ambitious young man that gained the highest authority who's only second to the emperor, and his rival a wise middle-aged man who just wants some peace but an undefeated war tactician.
