I'm really confused about American music, specifically rap music. Its lyrics is either littered with F-word or N-word... or both. There's also sometimes has additional component : flexing their non-existent wealth. I was like, WTF? I left listening for some years, only to return having my ears and brains being raped, metaphorically.

I know I shouldn't generalize all western music, but I just can't help it with all these substanceless music... just catchy music... Welp, going back to jp music and cultivate my inner weebo.

I'm still wondering how people keep getting in trouble for the N-word (like Papa Johns) when it should have fallen out of fashion years ago. I just remembered now that it's still used in music...

Honestly I really don't understand it either, a lot of people consider it trash while at the same time a bunch consider it decent, I personally hate most rap music as I listen to Rock music, generally metal, and if you've ever heard it they're as different as night and day. so with such a wide range of music it's hard to classify western music but know people have differing opinions.

obvious, you are hearing popular music and rap. Just try metal and his sub-genre. Metal is all you need.

as far as i'm concerned, music died in '93 and everything since has been kicking its bloated corpse to see if it grunts.

I am no expert on the development of that genre of music and it certainly is not my favorite type but I would generally say that the older the rap song/artist, the more likely I am to like it. I would say it has gotten worse over the years. I watched a TY video that talked about various info/studies that analyzed how over the years, music in general from a certain point forward has declined in quality (based on objective aspects).

One thing I would say is that a lot of music does not seem as interesting or creative as some older songs, its just a few lines with a certain beat that catches the attention, and then repeats itself for a few minutes. That is not to say I don't like the sound of some popular stuff, nor could I likely even come up with anything that would be popular. But sometimes I am surprised at the voice that is singing in some of the songs, and I would never want to hear their voice without auto-tune nor would I want to hear a non-studio version after hearing them sing live.

Here is a chart relating to an aspect of popular music and I guess based on this you could say it also indicates that if you think most of the new popular music is crap, well a lot of it sounds the same in one way or another:

I got ya covered if you want some good music, not today's ever-so-popular mainstream rap.

Most of the songs I hear on the radio has more to do with drugs and sex then swear words. But I do agree that songs nowadays that are considered popular are quite..... weird for me

Metal has good lyrics yes. But i can't really see them as music sorry. It's categorized into loud noise.

It mainly sounds the same because music publishers and record labels want to get what's safe. When a songwriter/composer makes a deal with a music publisher, generally the songwriter/composer has to write a certain number of songs for the publisher, and the publisher gets to pick which songs count. For record labels, it's more with artists and albums, and the record labels gets to pick which album.
Generally, the record label gambles a bit more on signing new artists than music publishers, but if artist X is popular, they'll sign all the artist X wannabes.

tl;dr The people in the music industry want to do what's "safe" and has been done before. They don't care about creativity; they just want money.

Depends on what you would classify as metal and who you think of when thinking of metal, an example would be saying slipknot represents all metal (even though its Heavy metal) not to mention there are so many variations of metal, without going into sub-genres like groove metal.
