I see. I respect quite a lot of the song composer due to their boldness to highlight of anything that's been illogical and strange to our societal system unfortunately though the music they made with it aimed at youngsters that didn't even understand their point and just being on their rebellious age. I just cant enjoy their loud scrambled noises and unintelligible screams.

AFAIK, terrible music has always been a thing, we just end up forgetting about them after a while.

I think we are just far from the prime years of music judged as '90 by most

Thats cuase you listening to the radio
Rap is way more than just bitches, money and gangs
Its has alot of virality just that its dead
All that get played on the radio is the catchy stuff that has no substance.
People misinterpret rap all the time
Theres plenty of good rapers that dont just use the platform to brag about how rich they are and how many woman they've slept with but use it to spread a message
And this why i say yall need to listen to the new gospel
    Kanye !!!!
Literally one of the reasons why rap is still alive

It actually depends on what it ends with now
Its racist if you end it with "er" and "a" or something like that

Yeah, it's just blaring music and screaming yourself hoarse. Ai-chan can enjoy rock, but can't understand how or why people listen to metal.

Unless if they're talking about this type, which is quite nice.

Oh but Ai-chan likes Linkin Park. But was that metal? Haa, not sure. By metal, Ai-chan mostly mean black metal and death metal, basically stuff where the vocals are buried by the guitar and drums and causing the vocalist to scream himself hoarse only for his words to have no meaning because nobody can understand what the heck he's trying to say.

You know, i kinda drifted away from most (almost all) western music because there wasnt much really good stuff and i find anisongs and anime-related (in some way or another) music feels much better to listen to. Maybe it's because i can focus on the music itself instead of the lyrics?

I don't think Linkin Park counts as metal. Maybe nu-metal?. I did spend a lot of time using Linkin Park to drown out the outside world when I was in high school though, good times XD. Made it easy to study when it was loud and annoying around me.

And how about power metal like Dragonforce or Dreamtale or Nightwish? Lyrics are pretty clear there as is the metal. I love that subgenre of metal.

I thought of rap like that too, just guys bragging about how great they are, etc, and disliked it. But then my brother and cousin both got into listening to rap and showed me some songs that changed my perception. Now I think 'Even if a lot of them are like that, there are good ones in there too'. Hey~ kind of like web novels, right? \o/
My brother mentioned that after trying many songs, he realized he likes the ones that don't curse, because they tend to be more creative with the wording/subjects (and he likes trying to figure out the meanings). Here is one he was showing me yesterday:

As for current stuff... haha, I really don't know. I used to listen to the radio, but the only proper station only played old favorites over and over and over and over again (I even started to memorize the ones I didn't like). So I stopped paying attention to radio, and went online for music, ended up liking electronic and/or repetitive stuff~ (Possibly it's because of all those touhou remixes. I blame/thank the friend that told me about the game, and caused me to google it in the first place. Ended up listening to tons of remixes but never touched the game, haha :blobsweat_2:) Since I like repetitive, I can't really comment on that part, because of bias.

Asians also complain that their songs are like mass produced clones of each other as studios choose songs artists sing. Artists are like products marketed with zero creativity.
The grass is always greener on the other side.
I know Asian girls who love rap to death. I guess the novelty is also a draw unlike those of us who feel overwhelmed with it

Well the lyrics and rhymes do much better both in creativity and colors in the past.
What happen now that youngsters enjoy one single lines repeated with different distortion effect and accompanied with repetitive electronic music ? What really happened with creating songs before with good poetical lyrics and rhymes ? Honestly this is regression in anyway i could see them.
