You could consider replacing your hard drive with an ssd to help speed things up a bit. But generally, you get what you pay for. PC's in that price range are fine for browsing and casual stuff, but that's it.
Should have returned it ASAP when you noticed the performance or lack of. Also check reviews/prices/alternatives/next gen online before buying. DO YOUR RESEARCH!!! Or suffer and regret unless you’re rich then whatever. Just learn from your mistakes and move on. Impulsive buying should be a crime.
I only know the term refurbished recently. Anyone have a refurbished laptop?? I heard you could get more advanced laptop for a lower price?
Research is really important when getting a new computer. It's like getting a new car, or a new house. Bad idea to just walk up to one, and be like, "this looks good", and buy it.
That's correct. Refurbished (from my understanding) is basically when the laptop was returned for whatever reason (either due to faulty parts or because the customer changed their mind) and then is resold (any faulty parts are usually replaced). Due to how they're not completely brand new, the price will typically be lower than normal. If you plan on getting a refurbished product, it's best to buy it from the manufacturer directly, and make sure it's covered by warranty.
Well, it's true that you might be able to get a better deal on refurbished items, but you should be careful. These are either items that have been returned for many different reasons or were floor models. When you buy refurbished, you should see the protection plan that comes with the product. At this price point, I would suggest buying a pc instead. If you search well enough you might be able to find a decent. iBuyPower and cyberpower pc have options at this price.
I have and they work fine. You need to check if they come with warranties and whatnot though. Also, if they will tell you, it would be good to know what the issue with it was originally. Also, if you want bang for your bucks and you want a serious machine with grunt you should consider a tower instead of a laptop. You loose on portability, but you gain on power and can extend the life of your machine by replacing parts as needed. You can even upgrade if you buy a machine that has a good motherboard and CPU.
This almost happened to my sister, she needs a new laptop and saw a touch screen laptop for 400ish dollars with 2018 in the name... thankfully she asked me and I was able to point out the i3 processor with 620 video card, and after she got the hard drive she would have wanted in it the price would have ballooned to 800ish$ Now instead she is spending 2-300$ more and getting an i7-6700 with a gtx 960.
That’s, impressively bad, my god. If you want to make it usable... actually scratch that just get a new one. But if you absolutely can’t, upgrade to an ssd, that at least should let you browse the internet. But bottom line is that laptop needs to be put down.
Let me guess, you got one of those celeron crapware? Or one of those netbook processors put into a laptop and calling it a real laptop?
pepescream.jpg Sorry bro, we've all had a potato at one point. The good news is you don't need high specs to read web novels xD
It should be fine with small and lightweight games as well as for browsing. If it's slow, as in slow even when you have nothing opened, this may be due to a virus or too many programs that are running in the background and consuming your limited resources. Simply head over to the task manager (it's ALT key plus Control and delete key) and end processes for unwanted programs. Also, this may be because you are running Windows 10 on your laptop, get down to Windows 7. Make sure your C drive (whatever drive that has Windows installed in it, usually C) has ample empty space. And then, avoid multitasking, opening too many tabs and Windows in browsers and installing too many softwares. Know that even anti viruses are very energy consuming monsters, especially when they are running a scan. (Reinstalling the windows and deleting temp files is also another good option to speed things up; To del temp files, go to 'run', it should be Windows key plus 'r' key and type in there '%temp%' and press enter, and del (.tmp) files and also del them from recycle bin for instant speed up)
