I'm feeling great today since I'm on the verge of dying, so I thought why not share it to others? I CAME up with the idea of peroducing as the above title states. GIMME your insights about it and if I'm motivated enough then I can finish it by next month.
Sure why not I don't know how the technical side would work. What do you want to put as the setting or main quest type of thing?
It will use the settings of my novel draft that I plan to release upon finishing it. Main quest? I dunno but will use the gathering types and slaying stuffs. As for the system, think of the DFFOO but with fewer weapon selections (applying still works though)
Haven't played that game so I don't understand. Gathering and slaying things sounds like MMO quests. Personally I don't like those and think they would work better for MMOs than text-based, but if I try to leave out my bias.... Hmmm... I think it would work fine for this, but there's a risk of it becoming boring and not keeping people interested if there is not a bigger goal than better gear/weapons or rankings. Rankings could motivate people to play, but it's not too strong on its own. You could do a thing where the players affect how the setting develops maybe? Though that one might not be great either... .... What kind of setting does the novel have? Not in detail but if you had to describe it very roughly, Like: Futuristic, or Magic world, or Post-Apocalyptic, or Modern, or ?
I am sure there is a niche with fans of this stuff somwhere. The little exp. I have with this kinda thing are quest games back in the day. There were 1-2 correct routes and 1-2 debuffs/traps and the like. Which was interesting to bruteforce when I wasn't smart enough and became quite boring when I grew up, cuz there were a lot of cliche twist and turns everybody was using. Some real rpgs later were interesring, at first. But you soon learn some patterns and the appeal goes away. Anywho. Don't start it, if you don't have an idea for it. I see some game titles revived old genres, but it's got to be difficult making a game, which few people are interested in.
Ah, I have played one or two of those, so I knew about them I just forgot that they go under the same name. I was thinking of the 3D MMOs, but I don't know the right name for it. I still think gather/slay quests aren't as nice in text-based as in the 3D ones.
Imagine what time-compression is? The one that every branching parts of reality were forced to create a new system. That's what I'm trying to achieve. So settings wise, it would be fair to make this "world creation" where everyone can participate to create a new event that the game will be based on. Somewhat identical to our historical system.
theres a novel bout that on rrl, basiclly middle schooler makes ai to play DnD with friends, devolved into vrmmorpg tho :/ ah i just felt like saying it no insights.
You're totally right, that's why I'm going to consider this problem as the very foundation of my project...It won't follow a generic system, instead will use a shifting system that auto updates itself upon several days passing.
So, would it be a bot writing a novel, or people suggest what to write and the bot write it? Either way, I’d love to see how it turned out
Not a bot writing a novel, but you as a user will just affect the main story with every action the user took. Think of it as AC:O in text-based version. EDIT: There will be this dynamic content refresher every month that will regulate the quest and stuffs, just don't expect it to be top tier. Also there will be 2 modes available, namely Campaign and Arena
Hmm~ Are you sure you aren't exhausted from coming up with that idea of yours, since you are on the very of dying, yes? So what are we talking here? Can you edit or update your OP so we can see the details or overview of what project you're planning to incorporate in the forum. Details! DETAILS! DE-TALES! D-TALES!
