Should I read renegade immortal????

I want to ask whether should I read renegade immortal I had already read Issth as they're in the same universe also because of spoiler I know it's ending but does not know it's process should I give it a go . I can't decide

 

Yup. Honestly I like renegade immortal best out of any of er gens work

 

Whether it's ending is same like Issth or it has something different (just yes/no)As in Issth last part is all about all heaven.

 

Its alot darker but out of all the xianxia works out there, its the most realistic in how it depicts the tragedy and triumphs of the cultivation journey.

 

I haven't read it to the end since I follow the translation. But all heaven doesn't appear in it from what DB said.

He's not really cold, he just grows indifferent later on. Still philosophical about the meaning of life, if it's better to be a mortal than an immortal, the questions of immortality and still bonds with people, just can't 'open up' his heart, since it 'died' in his idea. Still lots of heart warming interactions when he ponders upon the dao and mingles with mortals. You get to see how they live happily, but grow old very fast to someone like him.

p.s. there's also no real 'plot armour' for the most part, whatever he gets he earns through blood, sweat and tears, risking everything. Makes you feel he earned it , compared to people like Meng Hao...

Meh. The MC was too much of a jerk for me to get past the first 150ish chappies. I have enough of those to deal with in Real Life, so not my cup of tea.

 

It has a bit too much tragedy to my liking IMHO. I stuck around for a while but couldn’t finish from all the bad feels. But I also think I’m more of a comedy/emotional novel kinda of guy that loves a good laugh or a good cry and not a feels bad moment so that kind of plays partly into why I stoped reading Renegade Immortal.

It is a very good book. It is well written and has great characters with real personalities, great side characters with relationships. Plus the writer makes great stories and is one of the best authors in CN novels. Though it is a bit tragic, it is written in such a way that it is definitely a solid read.

RI is not a prequel though, ISSTH is a sequel.

 

I binge read the novel to catch up to the translations. I think it is the best depiction of Xianxia out there. While it is dark, what else do you expect from a world where the strong rules and is respected while the weak are meant to be fodder? If you don't have power (or talent/money/backing/potential), then you are like an ant to the eyes of those stronger than you.

Wang Lin started at the very bottom of the barrel, dude couldnt even pass the sect entrance exam. What he lacks in talent, he makes up for in sheer perseverance and crazy mental fortitude. It takes a while for him to realize that a normal, morally upright person won't survive in the cultivation world, but when he does, he laments the fact that he is a cultivator.

I don't recommend you read this expecting comedy (ISSTH made me LMAO a lot), but more on the philosophies of being a cultivator and the struggles of being weak. Now, I believe that Er Gen did better on the romance in ISSTH (which... was... weak imho) than in RI. Even while being open, I still found it to be... rather unbelievable. But eh, everyone needs an anchor.

 

You should read it. And according to Deathblade, what you hear of in ISSTH happens after Renegade Immortal ends, so you may know less than you think.

 

Yes. One of the best xanxia novels out there. It really shows how a cultivation world would actually be like instead of the wishfufillment xanxia novels. The mc can't just offend one of the mlst powerful families out there and get away because of plot armor. Instead when the mc in renegade immortal did his entire family was killed. If something like a cultivation world actually exist renegade immortal shows the most realistic form of how it will actually be. Definately recommend. Reason why most people don't like it is because of the tragedy and the mc suffers quite a bit.
