How do you feel about polygamy? (Rerun)

So a couple of months ago, I asked on how people felt about polygamy at that time, and decided recently to do it again to see if the numbers changed since then.

For those interested, here are the previous results

For novels... I don't really care. In real life... nope, nope, nope. I mean, sure a harem would be pretty could, but if my wife/girl had a harem of her own... I really wouldn't like that. Knowing she loved other guys other than me, would suck, so no thank you.

 

As long as all wives / husbands are given equal treatment, why not?

harems aren't for everyone, but if you can provide for your family and it doesn't devolve into a 40 yr old marring 12yr old then sure why not.

Admittedly it is fun to fantasize about, after all who wouldn't want to be loved to such a degree. That therein is the problem, love is expected to be a mutual feeling, something shared both ways. How can your feelings to mutual though if your lovers are willing to share you, but you expect them to be exclusive to you, and only you.

If someone and their spouse(s) agree to such an arrangement then they can, by all means, knock themselves out and have fun with it. Personally though, since I wouldn't like sharing my girlfriend/wife with anyone, so I'd only expect to give her the same monopoly in return.

 

I say nay cuz it seems like a hassle. It's already troublesome trying to deal with myself and having to deal with multiple other people will be the cause of my death. I just want to have a simple love.

But with novels I don't care. I read if it's good. It won't bother me unless the other lovers are one dimensional or if the protag treats his/her lovers like trash.

It only works out in your imagination and that's it. It's alright to fantasize about polygamy and having a harem, but don't do it for real. It will just end up as a mess.

 

Definitely Nay. novels make polygamy look so easy, but having responsibility and taking care of a lot of wives and a lot a children will turn into chaos.
And even if you were rich and powerful enough to take care of them, there will just be a discord between the wives and children fighting for power I always found it strange that in novels you continuously see fathers with multiple wives and children all fighting against each other for power and resources, yet only the mc harem is peaceful with everyone liking each other. I can't imagine a wife actually being happy with sharing her husband with other women.
And lastly I think it is possible to love 2-3 women at the same time, but loving 10 women is close to impossible. At that point you are just confusing love with lust. And even with 2-3 women it is a stretch and you won't love them all equally either.

 

Well.. as long as you (man) can take responsibility, being fair for it, and HAVE your wives agreement, I think it would do.. Personally, I think it won't work out if it's only based on carnal pleasure..

 

That's polyandry and different from polygamy, that shouldn't be counted here
