Do we know how much the Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken anime will adapt? Are they adapting the entire novel, or just a few arcs? Thanks
Novel is around 250 chapters give or take including side stories. So far the anime has covered around 22 chapters.
For 8 episodes of the anime, it is worth = 1 Volume of Light Novel or ~24 chapters of Web Novel or 10 chapters of manga We are currently doing Vol 2 of the LN which should take another 8 episodes(Orc Disaster) with this pace. And I'm expecting Vol 3 with another 8(Milim!) to complete the 2 cour/24 episode release.
It is very unlikely we get to see Birth of a Demon Lord Arc or even the taste of the Invasion arc. Heck we might not even see the kids, who knows. Demon Lord arc will have to take around 70~80 anime episodes to get there by my calculation, and 8-bit only said they'll do 2 cour/24 episodes (maybe a bit more, who knows. It's like making 13 episodes instead of 12)
Considering that we can see Rimuru fighting Hinata in the opening I do think we will see the kids maybe even the demon king ark.
Imagine if the season finale ends with Spoiler rimuru returning to his village after the attack and seeing dead shion as cliffhanger After credits to be voiceovers discussing Spoiler rimuru to become demon lord and Great sage saying "it's possible"
If you pay attention to the intro you pretty much see everything that is going to come. He discovers and battles Yuki (or whatever his name is) and that means he knows of the kids. Already highlighted with the vision of his fated person + the request by her to look after them. It most certainly goes part the orc invasion & the Human invasion. There will be the part were he become a Demon Lord and the introduction of that Loli Demon Lord who he will battle and befriend. There is a lot to look forward too. XD I must say I am very happy with the Anime, firstly because of how true it is to the source material. They didn't jazz it up or admit parts, it follows the story perfectly as far as I can tell. Secondly because of how they gave it more character, the menu/Great Sage isn't static and boring but used really cool visuals to represent it and I also like how the slime is fluid and acts like it. It is really cool to see.
Considering that they already showed Rimuru vs Hinata in the OP, which happens just before Rimuru's ascension to Demon Lord. And not to forget that Guy Crimson was also showcased in the OP (who actually appears quite late in the WN and LN). I would say the anime would atleast cover until the ascension of Rimuru and the Demon Lord Meeting, were Rimuru kills/absorbs Clayman, and changes the "Ten Great Demon Lords" to the "Eight Star Demon Lords" (were Karion and Frey become subordinate of Milim).
Just because certain scenes are shown on the OP does not mean that the show will air the corresponding arc. In Overlord season 1 opening they showed the lizardmen fight with cocytus but the corresponding episodes aired only during 2nd season (which wasn't confirmed even after 1st season Blu-ray was released)
Rimiru fights a demon lord before actually ascending to one, right? That one weak manipulative guy who is jealous of his seven deadly sin skill?

Web novel - finished Light novel = polished version of WN and currently ongoing. Most of times anime are based on their LN counterparts
