Are you reading it on fictionpress that's currently on chapter 92? (here) I had a similar issue more or less, I'd say give it till chapter 3. The MC's annoying personality at the start is very intentional, and his character drastically transforms as the story goes on (if that's part of what was bothering you)

I dropped MoL right at when Zorian and Zack met Damien for whatever shit they are doing, reason being that the 1 month waiting time is killing me and that the chapters are long, freakishly long and it felt like I am reading a report instead of enjoying the story, I even actively skip multiple parts just to see the end. Don't get me wrong, I like MoL, I like how Zorian interacts with the people, especially to Kiriel, his younger sister, and that prick of a teacher. I was constantly reminded that Zorian is not the main character, Zack is. Zorian is just hitching a ride, time loop ended abruptly, Zorian's pathetic mana pool that never grew at all and his complete lack of talent in any high tier offense spells contributed by the said mana pool. That said, Zack is the main character with the riches, large mana pool due to lineage and retarded amount of super spells in his arsenal while Zorian is more of a detective with his mind spells, gadgets and more logic thinking I guess. What really drove me off of MoL is not surprisingly Damien has the same empath power as Zorian and probably better than Zorian, kinda off putting for me that everyone is better than Zorian in HIS field of study, just that Zorian is slightly better than them by having a broader field...
yeah, that is part of it. I know that it is supposedly very good, but unless it is completed I can't bring myself to read something that only gets good later on. thanks for the heads up though
