I don't really get the appeal of Tsunderes in love stories. Well, I know it adds a little flare in Romance but there's Tsunderes that are too much that the character ruins the whole plot.
Yup, I don't like tsundere either. The reasons why people like tsundere because they'd like to fantasize that the girls who had treated them rudely irl actually like them.
I just always thought that tsundere were a Japanese cultural thing. You know, because they're suppose to be shy and some use anger to cover it up. Doesn't mean they hate you, just don't know how to deal with their shyness any other way.. Least that was always my understanding.
I don't really get the appeal of Tsunderes in love stories. I can answer your question! The challenge ! to conquer the heart of the beautiful is the challenge of each MC, If a girl declares her passion from the beginning of the story, In many cases, we would find that, a little boring, if as if you were getting tons of gifts every day, But what if you did not receive anything for years and try to get some? Will you feel Hope ? Despair ? Like ? Hate ? This is why, Tsundere are is so many love story ! To make mc life more difficult in anime, novel, drama. Tsunderes that are too much that the character ruins the whole plot Problem in the character personality of the character, or different opinions depending on the point of the readers.
Cause people have their niche taste. Maybe they like being bullied or treated like shit but imagine that person actually loves them. But yeah, not much of a fan of tsunderes either. Maybe if it was toned down from the phyiscal violence gags, sure its bearable.
The same goes with yandere. I dont get why people love possessive girlfriend/waifu so much. Possessive girlfriend irl is annoying and creepy AF
ofc it is creepy irl, but as a fantasy, it is pretty ego boosting. and dangerous, which psychologically makes girls more attractive to most het males.
Hahaha, Should I place a Question Mark after the period? Just so othe people who sees this don't get confused. Because it's supposed to be a discussion on whether you like tsunderes or dislike them like I do. There's different branches of Tsunderes? That's why I don't get the Tsunderes that hit and abuse their love interest because they're shy. (Well, unless you a pervert you probably deserved the kick, like those ecchi/harem stories.) I probably can accept the 'It's not that I like you or anything.' line but kicking someone because the guy said 'I like you.' and the girl got embarrassed, come on if you are the guy and the girl you like did this and continued persuing her you're a masochist. Hahahahha. Dude, you need glasses. Hahahahah. Well we all have our own taste, not really judging if they like the Tsunderes. Yandere girls are crazy AF and excessive. Male Yanderes however (My opinion, because I'm a female owl.) Equally scary and probably much worse but if you look at it in a different angle I think girls would swoon with a male Yandere. Because most girls wants a guy who is devoted to them but not obsessively.
i think the portrayal of personalities are a bit too one dimensional to really show off their charm. their entire existence revolves around a trope, rather than just having any sort of subtleness that makes them feel natural. i think the only dere that doesn't suffer from this over focus is kuudere who, by their nature, tend to be subtle in their actions in order to get their feelings across. the others are practically bipolar or filled with so much energy, they're probably on crack most of the time.
Tsundere's are appealing because they're challenging. Relationships often feel more rewarding when there was some sense of strife or conflict that was overcome in the progression of the relationship. It's the same mechanic that makes you feel good for leveling up in a game or improving at something you deem important. I like Tsunderes.
Been a while since I've seen that lol. While the modern version is generally more common nowadays(since it's modern, no duh) the classic version of the tsundere is actually a great way to show off character development and the evolving relationship dynamics between the characters as the plot progresses. So it's not as if the trope is bad, it's just overused. And generally if the character's main characteristic as a tsundere seems annoying, it's not because tsunderes themselves are annoying, but more of a reflection of the author's skill at portraying a character (Either that, or an early judgement by the reader). I'd give examples of popular tsundere characters who became well-liked after decent character development, but generally whether or not you like a character is based on your personal opinion.
Haven't read the entire thread yet, but have you ever watched or read Toradora? May not be your cup of tea, but to me it is a perfect example of a shy tsundere using anger and violence to hide her shyness and pain.
why don't you read it again? the sentences he made would be wrong with a question mark. it IS his opinion... really, english is such a hard language...
me too lmao really, you should try to read a published book once in a while. Webnovels, especially the trashy ones and badly translated ones can make you learn wrong english, since the grammar is often wrong but you still get the meaning. I know that my english isn't the best either, but I am confident that I am at the level of an english highschool graduate at least.
Haha, the title is both my opinion and a question but more of my opinion so I placed a period instead of a question mark since I wanted a discussion.
