So I am writing a novel... why not create a section for creators?

The title pretty much says it all. I would love to have a specific section for creators that wish to upload their own novels. A western approach to the same Japanese concept. Any thoughts on this? Recommendations? The "western light novels" I have usually found takes the form of site-based webcomics, it think there is a lot of potential for this site to host not just translations but original work.

This site doesn't host novel, it merely tracks them.
You can always use community creations sub-forum or other site like RRL

 

This is like getting a material gathering request for something that you've always got in your inventory.

 

Novel Updates is a Directory Site for Translated Asian Novels. You are already on the wrong track when you think this is a "Hosting" site.

If you're interested in posts about writing, there's also the Author Discussions subforum. It seems fairly active.

Yes, I realize this, but there is still room to expand the scope is it not? Just look at how facebook began... although I am not a huge fan of the service.

i always found it odd how everyone here hates novels written in english.

it depends on what your goal is.

if you just want to write for fun, rr is your place

if you want to grow as a writer, you should just skip NUF, rr and wn and post on wattpad

like many have said, this site is mainly for works that are written in other languages and then translated into english

 

You seem like you know a lot, if anything my goal is to get exposure to see if what I have written is something people can appreciate. I guess I want to see if what I've got is worthy of an audience.

 

Who's gonna program it all? Test? Facebook had ambition, and they also had time and money.
Besides, this is already far away from NU's goal. People have suggested e.g. adding English webnovels to NU in the past.

 

Good to know, as I have previously mentioned I have been a lurker for quite some time, this is my first try to actually engage in the community.

 

@Tony has long said that he is working on adding functionality for English original webnovels. Of course it will still be like novelupdates, simply an indexing service, as opposed to a complete platform for writing and publishing.

 

since he is already working on it, can we create lcd for originals then?

There are already several lcds for english originals. Most of them aren't particularly active, except for the one for Mother of Learning.

If you're trying to test/gain popularity, rr is still a pretty good place to start as well due to it's large active community, particularly if you can your story onto the trending list, which generally means having a solid backlog of chapters already written before you begin posting.
