go to a pound and rescue a dog if you want one free. If its non-profit they're probably just charge you for the vet fees

Have a look at breeds and their life expectancy/average health. Hope this will get you to get a mixed breed instead. By the way, dogs cannot cure mental illnesses, they can at most alleviate some of them and lead to dependance. Get a cat (wouldn’t help either though, but they might give you a “you are trash” look when acting out, making you stop) (Everything I said about mental illnesses is founded on nothing, just like religion)
