I guess I'm interested in what fraction of people identify strongly with a certain ethnic group. This is given the assumption that people who do not identify strongly with a single ethnic group (e.g. multi-heritage) will select "None of the Above". But the poll is severely limited by the fact there are only 30 options, and that some people may be answering more according to their National Identity or Cultural Identity rather than Ethnic Identity. But it's a little difficult, isn't it, to design a poll like this? I feel like the only interpretable information is the exclude all the ambiguous choices like English/Spanish/etc.
Well I definitely think Canadian should be an option. We are pretty distinctive... but I guess polish is closest.
I identify as Welsh. I was born there, left when 6 years old. But Welsh is in my bones. CYMRU AM BYTH!
Because of my upbringing, I identify most strongly as Irish, but I’m only 25-30% Irish. Ethnically speaking, I’m 50% European Jewish, which isn’t on your poll, but I don’t identify with it at all because of my upbringing. The rest is a mix of English, Scottish, and others.
It's very very varied and honestly European ancestry isn't usually of huge importance culturally in much of white America. Also, there tended to be a lot of intermarriage among white immigrants after they got to the US, so even determining ancestry isn't always easy. I've probably got, like, four or five different European ethnicities in my ancestry, and I'm only half-white.
So the largest ethnic group in NUF is "none of the above". I guess we are not that diverse seeing only a few people voted for the other choices lol No fantasy option so sad.
I tried to make an extension poll, and I hope it doesn't break anything. If you want to select something on the other poll (part 2), please select None of the Above on this poll (part 1)!
I'm a mixed from a mixed country where we don't know how to label our ethnicities because it's too mixed, we usually use colors to describe ourselves. I'm "morena" or "parda", a mulatto
Yeah, it is impossible for only one race considering evolution . Soon people body would evolve to suit the environment and since the environment depend on the location and different from one another future people would look different. . Especially when humanity go colonize outer space.
I’m 80% Hawaiian and 20% Chinese. Knowing your percentage of Hawaiian is needed because of certain benefits given by both government/ private. This is also true for Native Americans.
Same for the Maori here in NZ...they need to identify their heritage back to the iwi they come from, I think, in order to claim certain benefits. Though, Maori still also provide services for all New Zealanders which I think is good. We are all on the same waka after all.
