Apparently you can get subnautica for free from 14th Dec to 27th Dec from the epic games store. I already played the game way back from steam. Downloading a new store seems really annoying and tedious but subnautica is a fun underwater game. Well its up to you ,╮(─▽─)╭
I have a bit of megalohydrothalassophobia (fear of large man made objects underwater) and my siblings tried to get me to play that game, yeah that an't happening. I had to leave the room during the shipwreck section of the Little Mermaid Kingdom Hearts Level..... Edit: But thanks for posting the info, I'll let some of my friends know
I'm actually down with the Epic store because they give developers more money (IIRC they take just 12%, compared to 30% for Steam). Not sure how that's gonna work out for freebies though but I guess I'll give it a shot.
Well, I'm in for free games, but the interface of Epic launcher is user unfriendly. They have to do something about it (At the very least they have Steampai to "assimilate" beneficial features)
But, they have less reach and popularity, so less games will be sold. And for most game publishers it's about quantity over price, since making the digital copies doesnt cost anything. And, apparently steam have started making deals with publishers so that the more copies they sell, the better the publishers deal is, but not sure about the specifics.
I'm really looking forward to this game for no particular reason. Kind of bored at home right now and it seems like it'll be fun. Diving deep into bodies of water unnerves me a bit so it'll be fun to adjust to that.
As far as I know it is tailored for companies that sell AAA games. There is a threshold for every tier that depends not on the number of copies but on the recieved revenue from selling games. So AAA can sell less copies with higher price and get MORE profit, while small indi devs may sell a lot more copies but never reach the threshold for steam to take less of the pie.
Yeah, the more copies sold thing is made more so the bigger devs have even more reason to stay with steam, now that they've started getting real competition (both epic and discord have started up their own game stores/launchers, and obviously both have a pretty big userbase already, from fortnite and well, discord).
If you're a gamer, just ignore the stupid dramas about Epicgames and get this game, Subnautica is an absolute gem, good luck getting Thalassophobia (is that the right word ?) like me
Oh yeah noticed it now, it's cuz where i live the dates are reverted, and i ignored the last number, so i thought the 12 meant it started yesterday for both of them lol.
