Discussion Anyone else notice that in chinese female mc novels, the male mc is always older?

Well at least in the novels i've read, I'm talking about physical age not mental age.

I'm pretty sure all the younger guys are crying in unfairness at this blatant age discrimination

Well of course, if the guy were younger in a Chinese story, he would be a Young Master, and things never go well for them, very immature.

 

I think OP means physical appearance. Male MC might looks like 15-50 yrs old. But Female MC will usually look like 15-25 yrs old, maybe 30 yrs old sometime but probably none at 40-50.

Age in CN Novel with Xianxia genre is really not important(except for lifespan or pontential etc.). Someone with age of 1,000 might has mental age of 15 yrs old because of seclusion, not count those 'super-expert' with millions of yrs old with IQ of 10 yrs.

So for me, age in these novels don't really matter, pretty most of the characters have mental age of around 10-40 anyway.

 

I can argue that in most western movies the male lead actor is older than the love interest or female lead

 

Ya, I find that really, really weird. I get told all the time how shitty rape is ( of course it is) etc etc. Then I hop on here think that the worst justification of rape are the xuanhuan, xianxia novels (like mars gravity). But naw, then I read these "romance" novels written by women that just blow me away with how absolutely horrible the male mc's are and yet, these girls in the story love them. It's gotta be Stockholm Syndrome, I swear. The craziest thing (to me ) is how, girls like them because of the angst it brings. Naw, I'm a man and I'll stick with my fluffy vanilla type shit.

 

I have a suspicion that may be harvey weinsteins fault pushing his old man agenda on the younger generations.

 

If you mean specifically outwards appearance, women will pay greater efforts at maintaining their peak appearance, compared to men.
If you mean actual age, they're either way older or slightly younger, the first with them being stronger cultivators, the second with them being young genius cultivators, and that age gap is meant to make them more... pliable towards the MC

...There are two known psychological/biological things going on. One is that women tend to date older men due to the fact older men tend to be more stable in a myriad of ways. Like a better home, makes more money, etc etc. Making a family would be far more easy in a 3 bedroom house then a 2 room apartment type of thing.

The second thing is that older men (generally) like younger women because it means they are more fertile, and have more years in producing offspring. That's basically all that's going on. Unless you believe in that toxicmasculinity bullshit.

I don't really think so. I mean I guess it depends on the age gap (cougars going after 18 year olds type of thing,) how they go about it (high school teachers dating their students.) But those things would be the extremes, and could be said for the other way around, (waaaay older men and barely adult girls/minors.)

...Though, with those two examples, 1 would get weird looks and gossiped about, the other is a crime that would obviously result in jail.

 

FMC usually is either a Shotacon or Ojicon. ML usually is a lolicon...

It's called fantasizing. There are many NTR, Rape, Tragedy, Massacre, Gore,etc. novel out there and many people enjoy it. But do they really want that to happen to them or do it themselves? Probably not.
