QIDIEN to change the way readers pay for chapters

    A growing sector of the English online novel scene has been increasingly dominated by a large company known to many as QIDIEN, or Web Novel. QIDIEN was founded in early 2016, and has since been enclapsed in much controversy due to what many readers consider unethical business practices.
    However, QIDIEN has managed to overcome such obstacles to become one of the major self-publishers and hub for Chinese and Korean translated novels.
    It has a dedicated following numbering in the millions, and its app tops charts in both the Apple Store and the Play Store.
    Many readers still do not like QIDIEN's business practices.
    "I spend $100 on this piece of crap website, and I can only read half a novel? Wtf?" quotes one angry reader.
    "The Chinese website is a lot cheaper. And the raws are written by actual Chinese, not Google Translate. Why do I need to pay ten times the amount?" quotes another.
    QIDIEN has announced a way to solve these readers problems with the high monetary price.
    Head Marketer Ben Jieming said in a recent interview, "QIDIEN's unique position as a translating site makes the costs of running it much higher. However, I devised an innovative way to cover costs and support reader experience."
    Following the interview, the official website of QIDIEN released an announcement that it would implement a new way of collecting reader payment starting Feb 30: the Toilet Paper Tax.
    As the finances department head, Qing Chong, explains it, "The Toilet Paper Tax is a result of QIDIEN's finest minds' collective innovation. We've noticed that most of our readers read novels during bathroom breaks at work. Therefore, we've partnered up with Worldly Toilets to add a module to 99% of the toilets in the world. This module will take unused toilet paper and send it to us. If you want to read the next chapter, put in an unused sheet of toilet paper to unlock it."
    The QIDIEN site's official announcement makes further statements: "Toilet Paper Tax decreases toilet paper waste by an astounding 69%. Also, why would you care if your boss' toilet paper is decreasing at twice the speed. They have to pay for it; not you."
    QIDIEN hopes that their new policy towards collecting money from readers will be a win-win situation.
