I remember watching Robotech, Super Dementional Fortress Macross, and later watching the original dragonball as Saturday morning cartoons. So earily to mid 1980s.

I was one of those kids who stayed up till 10pm when all the late night anime shows came on.

Zatchbell, Naruto, Dragonball Z, Monster Rancher. Good times.

Then saturday morning cartoons. Medabots, Beyblade, Dinosaur King, Digimon.

I think i started watching anime since i was 6 but it was in my neighbors and i didn't knew what anime was and refer it to 'chinese cartoons'. I think it was Voltes V but it only made me becoming an animator than an anime fan. We didn't have a proper TV till i was in highschool and my classmates kept calling me a main character in an JP anime which i didn't knew what it ment until now.

Well, my first trip into becoming an anime fan was when i started watching Hayate the combat butler and basically knew what my classmates had said to me being some kind of Main character.....I'M NOT THAT UNLUCKY!!!

I was a fan of anime before I actually knew what anime was :p . I recommend Eyeshield 21 if you're looking for a sports anime.

The first anime I watched should have been some 17-18 years ago or perhaps a bit more. After that I still watched some from time to time, but didn't really know the difference between anime and any other cartoons I was watching. I think I probably got hooked up some 11 years ago when I started watching animax, though I'm not sure exactly what anime I started with, could have been Naruto or Inuyasha or something else. I was quite hooked on Yu-Gi-Oh! before that, but I didn't really know it was an anime.
For me, there was rarely a night when I didn't stay up till 11pm or 12pm. I was in 5th to 7th grade at the time and animax only started working from 8pm so I didn't miss almost any anime there.

10-14 years for me, started on pokemon and a few vcr tapes of Tenchi Muyo I found at a thriftstore, after that, it was a enjoyment to go through those stores and try to find more of those shows with weird looking people and pictures (it took me a long time to learn that it was called "anime" )

It started maybe in the late '90s, when I watched Candy Candy, Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball on TV. But those weren't my first animes. My first one was I think Panda no Daibouken when I was around 3-4 years old. I got it on VHS just like Swan Lake, Twelve Months and the rest of the classic anime movies. I watched Maya the Bee, Nils Holgersson and Spoon Obasan on TV when I was 8-10 years. We even recorded them. But that time I didn't know they're animes. But I liked them. I knew only they are animes in 2001, when one of my penpals told me. So I'm an old fan of animes. :)

I was in kindergarten, when my mother gave me those candies wrapped in sailor moon designs, I started to love sailor moon. Rather than to throw those wrappers, I kept them in a small canister. I think that's my first memory of starting to love that is something close to anime.

Plus my cousins, whenever they visit our place, will turn on the TV to watch Dragon Balls and Slam Dunk. Before, I always stay next to them and watch.

Then, I became addicted to Cardcaptor Sakura, Pitchi Pitchi Pitch, Sugar Sugar Rune...and so on. I used to love shoujo before such as Kimi ni Todoke.

I started late 2013. And you know, my first animes are ecchi since I was browsing for cartoon porn on youtube. Then went to more brutal ones like Hellsing because I always fantasized being a vampire. I didn't understand the story at first and just went with it because I thought he was cool. Also had a Gameboy Advance and played DragonBall, Gashbell, Shaman King and other things when I was younger. Even though I started on 2013, I have seen old anime on tv and classified it as cartoons more than 10 years ago.
