I'm kinda curious, tbh Im the type like to read for free, and if I like it alot, I will buy all the manga (official translated by my country) for my collection despite I already read it online. Are you like that too? Or 1. Do you prefer buy first volume then read the rest for free (never buy it again). 2. Read it all for free. 3. Only buy official translated not read online. 4. You only buy raw / were the one who provide raw. I prefer to know the content first, like it? Buy! Haha
I used to buy lots of manga, Doraemon, Shin-chan, One Piece, Bleach, Naruto to the point I wasted like 2k++ then I found out that you can get those for free online. My heart shattered. So yea, I'll only buy if it's worthy of my time.
Same! I bought a lot of doraemon, shinchan, and bleach. The most shattering is, when you buy it read it, and you dont like the content at all "Give me back my money" feeling.
I like to 'pay the piper' but I also don't want to waste money. I try to balance it out and enjoy my public library (my hard earned taxes pays for the books afterall XD) Also, if the libraries buy the books they pay more money for the books than if you buy them off the shelf. I guess as they pay a kind of commercial license for a book. I'd like to think the author gets a bigger amount from that sale...but I may be wrong. And last but not least....I only keep now books that I really love. The internet makes it so worthwhile to buy electronic copies of books that...you'd be silly not to do that and store it online on the cloud somewhere...but that's my opinion after three pineapple popsicles. XD
i buy it. local. way too expensive importing them in for the raw. there's new subscribing option now though. or if i like the author or the artist i'll pledge patreon or the like. then again only when i'm loaded.
Hmm I have pretty much read online + anime, and then bought manga after if I love the story and artwork. I never really got into buying manga, due to the bookstore I purchase from always missing a few books in the series and so I only ended up getting a few (Magic Knight Rayearth & xxxHolic) But mangas were sort of my go-to reference for admiring and trying to replicate art style in the past when I didn't have access to a computer. And note I never bought anything online since I was too young to have a credit card or etc, I only had lunar new years / birthday money to spend when I went out. But now I don't have any room to put manga, so pretty much stopped.
Most of the stuff i consume is not something i would read again so i lose complete interest when i have read them. I remember maybe four titles from here and i have been here reading almost daily for a few years. I also don't like ordering anything online.
I buy if I know I will want to read it multiple times. Support the author and all that besides I’m lazy and forgetful so it’s nice to have quick access
I buy them after checking them out first (read: read the first volume, read the last volume). It's great because when I feel bored, I can sit down and start reading stuff that I like. Browsing online means that I would need to wade through crap to find gems. Although my buying habits have changed from buying physical copies to digital...my room seriously can't hold anymore books. This means that I sometimes buy twice since I'll have a physical copy and a digital copy.
I don’t buy comics or manga because their to short and not worth it in my opinion. Now 300+ page novels. If their good. I’ve been known to not only buy the hardcover, but also the kindle and the audiobooks too. That’s not to say I never buy mangas or comics. I’m just very selective and picky on what I buy.
2. Read it all for free I used to buy shoujo manga when I was in junior high but I didn't buy it regularly because my allowance wasn't much. When I was in senior high, I never bought manga because I could access it for free on the internet. I thought I also could improve my english (at that time there was only english translation).
depends on the age of the kids, mine are in their late teens and nearly in their own. Besides, what's wrong with manga like fairytale, spice and wolf, brother mostly harmless fantasy books. It's not like I was buying novels off @SquadCammander354 reading list xD
