That is an awful sentence in Japanese, and the writer should be smacked around with a sack full of style guides for defecating it into the world. If you want to make it sound a lot better, what the writer is trying to say is this: → "The boy who was part elf and the young man, who possessed a different sort of delicate beauty, didn’t look like brothers, but there was something about the both of them that made one feel they might be distantly related."
