Hello, everyone! Manic Josei desu yo~! I'm the translator of Hero Suddenly Proposed and A Monk's Lovesickness. This morning, I opened my WordPress app and I was confused why I couldn't open my site anymore. So I went to my browser, logged my account, and I was shocked to find that my site is no longer available. I checked my email, but I haven't received any notification. So here's the thing. This auntie is a total noob when it comes to computer technology. I want to ask. 1. What does it mean when your site becomes unavailable? 2. How do I recover my site? 3. If I can't recover it anymore, what's the alternative? Hoping for a positive response. Thank you! EDIT (1/18/19): I got busy with school works. I just want to say that I'm not planning to stop translating the novels.
Probably has been taken down after a complaint received from the copyright holder of the novels you translate Wayback machine
I suppose the first thing you should do is contact the service provider and find out why it was terminated without any warning or communication to you. If it was at the bequest of the rights holder, then you'll have to find another host somewhere, if not, maybe they'll put it back up. Worst case scenario you can make your own domain and host it on any number of providers.
Usually WP would send out a email as a notification if your site violated their terms and conditions. If you think this was a mistake, then you should contact them. https://en.support.wordpress.com/suspended-blogs/
They've made mistakes before. I mean realistically they should have just asked you to take down whatever was against their TOS and not remove the whole site.
Thank you for replying guys! Hmm, so I need to have someone to host me? Is that it? LOL sorry I still don't understand some things.
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:https://hanashiobasan.wordpress.com/ googles cache has a lot of your stuff if you need to save it before its too late
Contacted them through the link in the dashboard _(;3/ But seriously, they should just tell me the hell is wrong with my site so I dont have to waste time asking them back
also ironically perhaps you might be able to salvage your work from one of those reposting sites we dont speak of.
Hahaha! Yeah! Good thing I was able to back up my files. So I don't worry about that. What I'm concerned with is, why is my site no longer available.
Yeah, it’s likely someone out in a complaint about your content and they took it down. Wordpress has a reputation for that kind of thing and not being very communicative afterwards. Edit just to say: if you’ve got any mature content/words and are monetizing, that’s also a reason for Wordpress to yank your website, since ad services are pretty strict about that kind of stuff I’m not trying to pressure you, but if worst comes to worst and you’re looking for someone to host, please do check out our site (link in my signature). We’d be happy to have you! You can PM me if you’re interested!
I think they're trying to prohibit free blogs. I tried creating a new free site but when I checked it afterwards, it also said "site no longer available". I've been translating for free for 2 years and didn't monetize. No adult content either. Ah, I'm considering hosting too but . . . I don't know how that works.
Hmm, you might be right. I’ve seen a couple of other translators recently that have had to move sites. And if you don’t fall into that mature content criteria, I don’t really know either. I do know that several of my TLer friends have reported having issues with Wordpress. Well, hosting on our site is fairly easy. I’ll send you a PM with the details.
You could ask around, since there are people willing to host your translations on their site or give you a subdomain even. Like @LysUltima.
