    I know that but until now Qidan releases on Novel Updates were under Qidan International. Why did it change to webnovel?

    It's a rebranding by QI to discharge their bad reputation on Novel Updates. You can tell because something like this would normally have huge press releases to drum up excitement with the loyal followers and avoid confusion...but here it was done without fanfare.

    It just happened. And for those nuffians that weren't paying attention, they'll treat the unfamiliar name as a new and rather prolific translator on the scene.

    It's still the same dishonest company, but it's like a lizard losing its tail.

    You know, this made me thinking. If you only one of you had bought the domain name webnovel.com, and .net, you'd now be millionaires when you sell it to Qidian.

    Anyway, Qidan was once a nation north of China, part of we now consider northern China and Eastern Russia. They regularly raided China. Much like what Qidian does, except they raid non-China now.
