A lot of what I've read has been in this genre, and I just love it. Here's the caveat: the story also has to be (at least subjectively according to you) good.
So you want a broken Mary Sue/Gary Stu MC while still reading a good novel eh... Unless its a pardoy and meant to be one, impossible. Its not humanly possible to balance such a character in any half serious way to make a decent story. It just doesn't work.
“My Death Flags Show No Sign of Ending” is a good one if your into “died and came back in a game” novels, protagonist is op but likeable and one of my favs “Rain” is a typical high fantasy novel with an OP protagonist, also one of the OG “overpowered cant lose” novels since it was written in 2005 and still going. Martial God Asura has an extremely op and prideful protagonist if you’re into that kinda thing, op portages are popular in Chinese novels though.
The toika novels are still god tier compared to bullshit like ATG or MGA. Reads like an action movie and is fairly light hearted.
hmmm i'm gonna have to go with one of my favourites (though i don't think the novel is being translated): isekai no seikishi monogatari. Not entirely sure if it counts though, since it isn't *said* that he's great, but it is shown that he is amazing at every single thing he does.
The protagonist truly being the greatest then i can only give one suggestion.. ''Emperor's Domination'
The great storyteller? The main protag is a literal genius but I don't know of this is what you want...
