That was so cool! When he was flying around, shooting black lightning, it was like those old Godzilla movies! You know, when the SDF brings up those ray guns that look flashy but doesn’t actually do much. I’m constantly surprised at how good the anime does action and battle sequences!
I was slightly disappointed he didn’t eat it and gain the ultra regen skill. Or that Veldora didn’t make a cameo. But otherwise, yes, it was very cool.
He ate the magic core which provides all the power so it’s not like he got nothing out of it. Plus, this is another demon lord level monster that he ate.

You spaced out and missed it. Time to watch again... Just before Karion appeared, the exposition mentioned Rimuru ate the core. Also, Rodan ( ) was a spiritual life form, so Rimuru was able to separate the core from Phobius, and he noshed on it.
