    I used to think almost all the yaoi anime fans were gay men. I was aware that a few women tend to enjoy that stuff too, but thought it was very less. Till I started using novelupdates, where so far all the BL readers I've talked to have proclaimed to be women.

    Now I still like to have some faith in womankind that this isn't true, but I guess we'll find out tonight.

    I'm going to leave this poll here and go to bed hoping for the best. Goodnight.

    I was personally under the impression that fujoshi (females who like BL) were the majority while gay men who like BL (or even men in general, so fudanshi) were much rarer.

    Same, actually. If you spend any time in a BL community, whether it’s manga, fanfiction, or novels, most of the people seem to be women.

    And I don’t really feel that any of the choices describe me accurately, but I put “perverted woman,” because it seemed the closest.

    Actually... I was so sick & tired of the brainless white lotus X billionaire husband trend from most of the girls loved around my age.

    so I tried bl.
    In the end, some bl actually have a better plot than a lot of the romance novels they're so hyped about..

    Although I'm not addicted to bl, I do read some from time to time. I'm still actively reading spirit hotel & FoD even. :blobneutral:

    I'm a straight guy who sometimes read BL but if its more on drama than comedy, i'm not interested in it. Plus, i don't read BL that much since people would think that i'm actually gay.

    Like @Kirill, I'm more of a casual reader of BL. I consider it as just another genre. Is it my favorite one? No (not even top 3). So I guess that's why I have a hard time labeling myself as a "real fudanshi".

    Ehh, for me some BL is either hit or miss, pretty drastically too. Pretty sure that's for everyone though when you talk about a genre of literature.

    Some MCs/MLs I can relate to while some I just can't. I find SUPER innocent/"good"/shy/(that-archetype) MCs overdone, and if they don't even have an ounce of masculinity, why not just make the MC a FL? Some BL stories you can just do that to and not much will change.

    Don't get me wrong. There's some pretty well done BL stories out there, but there's also some meh ones.

    That's just my 2 cents about why there aren't as many/as active guys who LOVE BL. More often than not, they just can't relate to any of the characters.

    Reason why I love bl: BG romance became too boring, call me biased but I can’t stand all of innocent airhead crybaby either op face slapping & revenge craving female characters anymore or just too much of drama (in the case of BL I can tolerate such an MC I found them cute) :3 also I like forbidden love stories & smart, tsundere, yandere characters ~
