Early in the morning, Rei entered the almost empty guild hall and places a report in front of the yawning cat-eared receptionist.
After talking with Vandarin and getting some more details about the quest, Rei left for the forest south of the city with an empty vial in her pouch.
Choosing a random healthy and old looking tree she used her hand to form a Ki blade around it and stabbed it into the tree, creating a shallow cut in its trank.
Once the sap started flowing Rei placed the empty vial underneath it and waited till it was full of sap.
Once it was full, Rei removed the vial from the tree and closed it with a wax cork.
All are items she got from the guild alchemy corner.

Now that she had the Sap all that was left was were moon flowers.
But right now was daylight, and Rei didn't have the ability to sense magic or mana so she would have to wait until midnight.
Storing away the vial in her pouch, she left the forest and started walking towards the river.
Once she got there, Rei looked for a place on the river bank where it was likely for a moon flower to grow.
After half an hour of walking she found it.
Protected from the sun by a small cave, was a patch of grass and many different flowers.
With so many species growing in the same spot Rei couldn't tell with ones were the moon flowers, so she had to wait until midnight anyways.

Rei climbed on the huge tree that was growing not far from the river bank and rested her body on one of its thicker branches.
While she loved sleeping in a proper bed, Rei was originally a traveler and could sleep anywhere should it be necessary.
Watching the leaves waive patterns from being swayed by the wind, Rei gradually fell asleep.

When she woke up, the moon was high in the sky to her right, meaning to her west.
It was way after midnight, she overslept!
Rei stretched her body and jumped down from the tree.
When she looked at the cave she found during the day Rei was speechless.
The patch was glowing with blue light coming from about 20 or so flowers surrounding it.
It was such a pretty sight it was almost a waste to collect them, but a request is a request.
Rei started carefully harvesting the glowing moon flowers and placing them on a small cloth spread on the ground she prepared beforehand.
Once she counted 12 flowers she wrapped them with the cloth, careful not to apply too much force, and placed it inside her pouch.
Now that she was done, she can head back to the guild.
Just as she started walking towards Nagrand, the sun made its appearance above the east horizon.
The early morning sight of the sunlight glistening from the river and shining upon the small cave and the tree was truly beautiful.
Today was full of pretty suprises.......
Huh? Was she the type to be moved by nature before?.... Oh well.
Rei tacked the worry in back of her mind and headed in a good mood towards Nagrand.
Collected a vial of tree sap.
    Collected 12 moon flowers.
Rei's mentality shows signs of being affected by her new body.

Ryul came up to the desk and smiled (?) at Miss Aria.

    "Here you go."

Ryul did not do what he normally did before officially beginning a quest, an act which usually involved visiting the town library and researching information to help him accomplish his assigned task in an easier manner. No, this time the quest he had accepted was less cerebral and much more hands-on.

After reading through the request details written by Head Priest Soren, however, Ryul still paused, reflected, and took the time to think of the best way to handle this particular request.

The core issue here was a logistical one. Not enough supply with too much demand. In this case, there was not nearly enough vacant space to house and heal all the injured people.

When Head Priest Soren had issued this request to an E-rank adventurer, he most likely meant for them to go and help set up the campsite manually along with the priests, workers, and others like them.

Ryul could do that. But he thought that that would be a waste of his talents and skillset. Don't forget, Ryul served as the deputy butler of a count's entire territory for quite some time. Administration, logistics, and such were his bread and butter.

The half-elf grinned widely with a glint in his eye as he planned his next course of action. Ryul would have to convince those in charge to give him more power so that he could do his best. He quickly made his way towards the makeshift camp being set up right outside Nagrand's Western gate.

    . . .
    "No."

A flat denial. One of the men in charge, Matthias, had looked at him as if he was wasting his time.

Ryul expected as much. Why would one of Soren's senior priests give him, an E-ranked adventurer, any position of power in the actual chain of command for the campsite? He was expected to just help take care of the Head Priest's request the old fashioned way with sweat and elbow grease.

Normally, he wouldn't mind too much, but the camp itself was run very inefficiently; Ryul noticed many issues when he came from the Temple and when he passed through the camp grounds.

There weren't nearly enough workers and laborers to help build the campsite. Even if he joined in, it would hardly make a dent. This problem affected other matters as well, such as the healing of patients.

Some of the lower-ranked priests and Sisters from both Ophelia's Temple and the Ralditorias Church were forced to help with setup instead of healing as there was not nearly enough people available. Many family members and friends of the injured were making matters worse by complaining about their slow progress and worsening morale.

The current situation where he was working without official acknowledgement was quite frustrating. It wasn't completely impossible to get what he wanted as he has done much more difficult political maneuvering before. It was just more tedious and required more effort is all. Well, he isn't the type to back down from a challenge.

    . . .
Matthias was stressed, overworked, and running on empty as he had been since the festival incident. Many buildings were destroyed making it impossible to completely house all of the injured townsfolk, so that they may recover.

They didn't have enough manpower either to help with construction of the campsite, so he had to dedicate some of the lower ranking priests to assist with the setup. This subsequently caused a backlog of many of the less injured citizens as the ones who would usually take care of them were not available, compounding the problem even more.

On top of all that, a few hours ago, a little E-rank half-elf adventurer thought he was too "valuable" and way too full of himself to be doing manual labor and had the nerve to ask Matthias to be one of the ones in charge. He was so furious, he didn't even give a second look to the adventurer as he sent him out of the main tent.

Matthias was definitely talking to Head Priest Soren about all this later and telling him that the adventurer who accepted his request ended up being utterly useless.

However, he didn't get too far in his mental ranting before Matthias began to receive multiple reports from his subordinates about how the campsite's situation had changed - and for the better, somehow. The senior priest was extremely baffled and became even more so when his men told him it was all because of that half-elf that was here earlier.

Matthias needed to figure out how this happened and maybe - he didn't really want to - apologize for his earlier rude actions if it turned out to be true. He hoped it was all just rumors or some kind of misunderstanding from his subordinates, so that he wouldn't need to embarrass himself and ask the half-elf for help.

Matthias, with mixed feelings, quickly moved towards where the adventurer in question was. He would get down to the bottom of this either way, or else Soren would have his head.

    . . .

Ryul was quite proud of what he had accomplished in such a short span of time. The former administrator first tackled the problem by heading towards where the majority of the patients were, Ophelia's Temple.

He used Th'Kun, his elemental, and his red eyes ([Berserker Aura]) to force many of the injured's family and friends, who were taking up the already limited space just by standing nearby, to head to the campsite and help the workers set up tents if they really wanted their loved ones to recover more quickly. For the more obstinate ones, Ryul used his skill over language to publicly shame them for not wanting their person to get better. It worked like a charm just like when he took care of those fools at the festival.

The half-elf decided to play it safe and grab even more helpers for the camp grounds. As Ryul was already headed out the Western gate towards the site anyway, he managed to intimidate convince the captain of the garrison of the Western wall to lend guards to help with setting up the camp.

After more than enough laborers helped with setup, the campsite was quickly and easily established, and the patients were being transferred over. Ryul coerced persuaded his spare helpers to do said transferring as well as stay and assist the priests, Sisters, and other healers by cleaning, cooking food, changing bandages, and a myriad of menial tasks that would take time away from the healers tending to the patients themselves.

He even bullied convinced those who were much less injured (and didn't have any extra hands around them for him to use) to go home and rest in bed after some light healing from Th'Kun and him. This freed up even more space and gave some breathing room for everybody.

Ryul just finished casting a small [Nature's Balm] when he made eye contact with a familiar face. The half-elf smirked as senior priest Matthias approached him and stuttered out an apology. He waved it off and, for the rest of the night and next couple of days, worked with the rest of those in charge to implement more of his ideas to increase the campsite's efficiency.

    . . .

Ryul made his way to the Guild with a bit of a spring in his step. He was confident that, unless another incident happened or something similar, the campsite was on the right track to have all the injured people up and out of there as quickly as possible.

Maybe he should just go ahead and admit it. Ryul liked bullying others, and it just so happens to have helped this time. He smiled a smile that did not quite reach his eyes as he approached the front desk.
    - Ryul hates inefficiency as a former administrator.

    - Ryul decided to take a different approach than what was expected of him.

    - Ryul is starting to slowly accept the fact that he is a secret S bully.

A very, very tired hunter stumbles towards the desk and places a basket of flowers and two vials before him.
"I obtained thirteen Moonlight Flowers and two vials of tree sap. It's a bit more than was requested, but I hope Vandrin won't mind," he says.
The most difficult part of this quest would be the acquisition of the Moonlight Flowers. The rare flowers were somewhat difficult to locate. They required a few conditions for growth: high humidity, large amounts of moonlight, and low heat. Arawn decided that his best chance of finding the flowers would be near a river, hopefully in an area with lots of shade.

With this in mind, he gathered up his equipment, including a basket for the flowers, as well as a few vials in which he would store the tree sap. After leaving Nagrand in the afternoon, Arawn headed southwest. In that direction was the large river near Lakeside Village, his best chance of finding the Moonlight Flowers within a day’s journey of Nagrand.

    _______________

Once he had reached the river, Arawn found that he had much more time until the Moonlight Flowers would bloom. Deciding to collect the sap first, he searched for some woods or a forest of sorts nearby.

After locating a small patch of trees, almost too small to be called woods, Arawn continued to look for a specific tree. He still had some time until sunset, and he figured that if he was going to get tree sap, it might as well be from an impressive tree.

He soon found a decently large tree which would require two or three Arawns to encircle, he got down to work. Unsheathing his dagger, Arawn dug a deep hole in the tree’s trunk at a slight angle. When sap soon started dripping from the hole, he placed the lip of the vial against the wood, allowing the thick sap the drip into the container.

As he finished filling up and corking the second vial, Arawn noticed the sky above darkening through the canopy of the forest. Storing the two full vials of tree sap, he headed towards the river to wait for the Moonlight Flowers to bloom.

Setting up camp on the riverbank, Arawn lit a fire and ate a modest meal of bread and cheese. The worst part was the waiting. Even after finishing his meal, Arawn still had to wait a few hours to make sure the flowers had bloomed before being able to collect them. As he waited, Arawn decided to look over his book once more.

He had acquired the old book in a rather mysterious way, and for now, Arawn wasn’t going to think about its origins. The book was written in unfamiliar characters, complex little things that were more like pictures than writing in regards to the detail they contained. Unfortunately, Arawn couldn’t understand a single word of it. For all he knew, the book might have just been a bunch of gibberish. But even so, everytime he looked at it, Arawn seemed to find something new amongst the symbols. And so, he continued to look at it.

    _______________

Deciding that sufficient time had passed, Arawn shut the book and picked up his basket. He then fashioned a torch out of some branches and the remnants of his fire. After all, it wouldn’t do to trip over his own feet while searching for the flowers.

Departing from his campsite, Arawn slowly moved downstream, following the river while searching for any of the glowing flowers. It took quite some time -- perhaps a quarter of an hour -- before he managed to find any flowers.

A blue glow near the river was what gave it away. The ethereal light was eye-catching among the darkness of the night, and Arawn had no way to miss it. There were four blue flowers growing in a cluster, nearly hidden among some large rocks.

Harvesting the flowers quickly with a quiet cheer, Arawn continued down the river. Now having already collected a third of the required amount of flowers, Arawn was confident in being able to finish quickly.

Nearly an hour later, Arawn was finding himself regretting his confidence. After the first batch of flowers, he had yet to spot even one more. Luckily for him, he hadn’t run into any monsters, as fighting them in the dark would be rather hazardous. But even so, it was getting frustrating how he couldn’t get any more. Arawn could only pray that he would finish that night.

His prayers were soon answered, as he spotted another cluster of glowing flowers. Six, this time. Harvesting these ones quickly as well, Arawn continued down river once more, though not as optimistically as before. Still two more.

Once again, it was a long period of time before he found more flowers. This time only after half an hour, the now-familiar glowing flowers brought a sense of relief to Arawn. There were less flowers than before, but still more than enough. Three flowers. He was done.

Nearly letting out a loud cheer at this, Arawn had to keep himself from getting too overjoyed. Didn’t want to attract any monsters, after all. Now that he had finished collecting everything, Arawn could get home. Checking over the thirteen flowers and two vials one last time, Arawn looked up at the night sky.

The moon still shone brightly overhead, but had begun its journey back towards the horizon. Letting out a sigh, Arawn turned in the direction of Nagrand and began his journey back. It was going to be a very long walk.

As Ryul was leaving the Guild after turning in his most recent report, a staff member kindly reminded him about something.

Arawn had already taken care of his request last week, and the books have been ready for pickup for quite some time.

Books? Plural? There were three? He had only requested one, and Arawn went out of his way to obtain for him two extra ones.

He glossed over their titles, and after doing so felt more than excited to both study and teach their contents: world history, the Planes themselves, and a more practical one for his students, wilderness survival.

Ryul was in an extremely good mood. He decided then and there that he'd have to help out his friend Arawn some time, regardless of his own personal conflicting feelings towards the guy. The half-elf was indeed older and more mature.

In the end, he rushed out of the door, feeling very happy and ready to devour the books.

Task: Gather Blood Lilies [Taken by @Zone Q11] [Taken by @Razogul] [Available]
    Requester: Vandrin
    Quest rank: E
    Rewards: 7 Large Copper Coins
Description: Vandrin is in need of more alchemic materials for the sake of continuing his studies and craft. For that he needs at least 9 Blood Lilies. Please be sure to bring them in good state as he needs them for the potioncraft.
This quest can be taken up to 5 times throughout this week, though only once per adventurer.

Still carrying the same toolkit, the gourd immediately set off to gather lilies. He reckon there were lots of clusters growing near the Cave of the Dead, so that's the best place to harvest some. Hopefully there's fewer undead around this time.

    *****

Currently a gourd was veeery carefully splattering a wandering zombie. He had a number of selectively harvested blood lilies in his portable pot basket, the clusters growing nicely since last time. Apparently there weren't many foragers this far out, for rather obvious reason.

A screech echoed from not so far away. He sighed and gently unstrap the basket, turning toward the source of noise to see three ghouls bounding through the landscape with feral agility. These slavering, frenzied undeads retained some base instinct to hunt in pack and were perpetually hungry, which combined with their elevated physical prowess made them quite a troublesome foe to encounter. This wasn't the first group he met and at this rate, he doubt it's anywhere near the last.

"Seriously, can't we stick with normal zombies?"

Monotonously his blade fell onto the first ghoul, cracking open its skull. He deftly kicked the body toward the second and raised a Hardlight platform for the third to crash into. The blade went up and fell again on the tangled mess that was the second ghoul. By the time the third came around he was ready and pulped it much the same way as the rest, a single overwhelming blow to the head.

"Having the left arm unavailable sure is troublesome..."

    *****

About two dozen odd zombies and skeletons and three different packs of ghouls later, he finally had gathered enough blood lilies and some more. A few more encounters and he was out of the largest undead-infested areas, thoroughly annoyed at the constant interruptions. The watery pot means he couldn't do the high-speed Dart either, or he'd risk spilling half of the hard-earned flowers. Sighing again, he trudged back to town as fast as his baggage allowed him to.
-Collected 13 Blood Lilies of various maturity
    -Many undeads today
    -Ghouls are assholes
    -Not a superhero!

Well, I think most people wouldn't mind having less wolves troubling their farms, but I suppose there was no request related to getting rid of wolves, so it's fine~

Good job out there, the reward is of 10 Large Copper Coins and 4 Guild Points~

    Take care now~

100... Gold... Coins... You mean... Real gold? Like, that thing that only nobles tend to touch? Dear Gods, that's more money than I have seen in my lifetime, who is crazy enough to borrow this much?

No wonder she couldn't repay it, she'd need a miracle to do so even if this was the most thriving merchant city in Ternus, and... Well, it definitely is not.

I pity her, but nothing can be done about it.

... That said, I can't give you the reward money since you did not clear the quest at all... I mean, it does belong to Sasha-san after all. I will give you the 4 guild points for solving the issue in a calm and sensible manner however~

Thank you for your hard work Nero-san, I'm sorry for not being able to pay you. *bows*

Dear Gods Raz-san! Don't try to climb a mountain on your own if it's your first time doing any sort of climbing! At least try going through big rocks instead! >.<

People generally try finding some mountain trails instead though... *sighs*

Well, glad you're still alive and in one piece though, your reward will be of 7 Large Copper Coins and 4 Guild Points.

Please take more care next time... >.>

A few hours later, a drunk Nero staggered towards the receptionist desk. He handed over the quest report to @AliceShiki
Razer and Nero sat at the tavern, a table separating them. Two brand new decks of cards had been bought for this grand occasion. A five minute hourglass was set between them.
    "The loser buys the drinks."
The stakes were set and neither party wanted to lose. It was a question of pride and honor and free booze. The two of them began to concentrate and the noisy crowd slowly faded away from their senses.

    "Ready?"

    "Ready."

Nero reached out with his top left arm to turn the hourglass upside down. As the first grains of sand fell through to the bottom, the very first Card-House Building Championship Final had commenced. The goal was to build a five story pyramid. The first person to achieve it would be the winner. If this was not achieved, the person with the largest pyramid at the end of five minutes would be declared the winner.

Nero was of to a great start, quickly (and carefully) setting up the base of the pyramid within the first 40 seconds. Now he moved on to the second level without any hesitation, like a man on a mission. He took a further minute to complete the second floor. But disaster struck as he moved on to the third level. In his haste, he had managed to knock over the flimsy structure with his little finger.

With three minutes to go, he had gifted his opponent a seemingly unassailable lead. No one would have blamed him if he had quit right then, but Nero had an ace up his sleeve. He began using his extra hands to pick up the cards from the deck and hand it over to the other pair of hands which would then set the cards down. By doing this, he was now able to save a few seconds for every pair of cards that he had to handle.

Time was running out as the two competitors reached the top of their respective pyramids. Nero had the final two cards in his hands as the fifth level of the pyramid was moments away from being completed. He gently placed the two cards on top of his pyramid and carefully let go. He waited, with bated breath, for his creation to come crashing down but the laws of physics were on his side this time around. His pyramid was complete! And just moments before the time had run out! With incredible skill, he had managed to completely turn his fortunes around.

Feeling happy with the result, he decided to observe his opponents progress. What he saw was a completed pyramid next to Razer, who was staring back at him with an extremely smug smile on his face.
Razer is now the reigning Card-House Building (World?) Champion.

I see... Well, nothing much I can say, just... Well, looking back to the past can easily reopen old wounds I suppose...

But you know... Accepting and coming to terms with those wounds is the first step towards healing them. Even if they never heal fully, even if a big ugly scar forever remains with you... It's much better than having a gaping open wound that you just turn your head aside to, isn't it~?

Well, those are just some ramblings of an old woman, don't give them too much thought. The rewards are 9 Large Copper Coins and 4 Guild Points~

Uhn? Ah, sorry Rei-chan, Aria was... *slaps her own cheeks* *forces a cough* Pardon me for the lack of attention Rei-san, I didn't have much sleep those past few days with everything that happened.

Appreciating a pretty view never hurts though, it's not always that we get those opportunities... Regardless, the reward will be of 9 Large Copper Coins and 4 Guild Points~

    Take care now~

Well, I'm glad you pushed the less injured people back to their homes, if they could walk on their own, they probably had enough strength to work... I mean, sure, the worst of Winter is already gone, so they won't die from taking a few days off, but that's exactly the mindset that make people live month by month with barely any savings to help with food or wood expenses during the heavy snow days.

On the other hand... Did you really need to convince the guards? I mean, I'm glad it worked out, but the last thing we need in a town that just suffered a heavy attack is... Another attack, and that's exactly what weakening the guard forces can lead to... Good thing it didn't happen though~

Great work out there, glad things went well for you. The reward will be of 12 Large Copper Coins and 4 Guild Points~

    Take care now~

Glad to know you didn't find any monsters near the river, gods forbid finding something like the octopus in Nyllia...

The reward will be of 9 Large Copper Coins and 4 Guild Points~

Have a nice rest Arawn-san, you certainly earned it~
