No real favorites. Deconstruction or construction of tropes are all right as long as it is done well. However, I do have tropes I can't stand.

Well I dont have anything specific and never thought about it.

How about when a common trope is carried out with an interesting or unique twist

When the Main character isn't really the "main character". Novels like TNE, ORV, Konosuba, etc. Ones that either have a low importance or are not the worlds focus.

    Please recommend. :blob_teary:
Such novels are so hard to find, most seem to be filled with rapists eg Tales of the Reincarnated Lord

OTP because I don't understand how you could really convince people into harems unless it's literally forced when the women don't have actual freedom in life.

    I like the weak-to-strong trope.

And I like time-loops, which are well thought out.

I tend to like books with good world building and clever characters, but the bigger deal is the quality of the writing and characterization. I'm reading a story right now that only has two characters, but still manages to be delightful because the writing is so evocative.

I like it when MC is misunderstood as some sort of world-shaking genius even though he's just BSing everything he's saying
And because of how he acts, he keeps digging a deeper pit for himself and has to keep acting like some god even though inside he's scream his lungs out hoping for someone to get him out of that situation since all the people bowing to him are 10x stronger or smarter than him

Depends on the season or mood.

I think right now, I'm into world building or basically the underdog protagonists who start with little to nothing and rise to build their dream/empire/ etc.

I think I’ve found the ultimate trope in the Hallmark Christmas movies, and using it is quite intentional. We’re inviting a young adult friend over to watch their premiers–she’s newly alone, has no nearby relatives, and no cable, and those are her favorite films. I had never seen one before. After just two Saturday nights I noticed a really high level of similarities between all the plots and Googled “writing Hallmark Christmas movies.” Sure enough–Hallmark DOES have just one general plot, which they clearly lay out on the web site for potential writers to follow, along with guidelines forbidding a few things and stipulating a happy ending. No wonder theyre so consistently safe and predictable! No stress or nightmares from one of those! Can you guess what I’m writing next? ;-D

I think it'd be far easier to write the ones I do not like :D

Hmmm, trope I like...when the hero/heroine is of demonic/evil origins? And even better if they aren't all - no killing - but actually do kill their enemies, yeah!

And while I do like the underdog trope where from nothing becomes something, I far more prefer when the lead already is something and further actions only prove why he is that something and adds more to it as the story goes on

One of my favorite tropes is the whole "I got reincarnated back in time so now I have a second chance at life, Also now I'm OP and have knowledge of the future"
Preferably it would have game elements or the MC would get a special power
