sick of having to leave novelupdates just to read or check out a chapter. fret no more, because i made a tapermonkey/greasemonkey scripts to embed the chapter on the page and let you change which one your on. I cant show a picture on here since it want a link... I'm refining it and will probably release it in half a day.
Well, obviously we would have to leave the main site, because Novel Updates is just hosting the links of updated & translated free chapters. I don't get what you mean? Explain in a way I can understand.
NU is just a site to collect and compile loads of translators' sites into this one webpage form, what is OP's point?
i use the links from webnovels to embed the chapter on the page. There was all that lonely looking white space under the chapter list so i thought why not smack a chapter in there.
Its a go9d idea but bad move. We could get a DMCA notice from publishers and authors making us close the site and we are safe because we dont have the translations themself on the site. Mangaupdates had this problem and they had to remove direct links for the manga chapters or close. If push comes to shove we will have a similar thung where NU will only have notice that X group release a chapter on their page but no direct link
it basically opens the website on novelupdates. You can flick through the chapters and you don't need to leave the site. plus no revenue is lost for those sites as the pages are actually opened.
While you don't leave nu, you still have to load the page right? Not sure you're going to gain much time. Seems better to just open in a new tab with ctrl+lm or a press on the wheel.
your technically on the website just it's stuck on your current website so they still get the add revenue. It's like how you can embed youtube videos on websites but instead its a chapter.
I was just bored so i made it. Some novels are on lots of multiple websites and you keep on having to come back on to webnovels to get the link to the chapter. with this method you don't need to and i've checked and it supports a mobile view.
Nope, and yes. Depends on the novel. Its a pain for some of them when you have to keep on coming back to novelupdates and open the next chapter when not all the chapters are on the same site.
Well... This looks kind of convenient for those websites without any next chapter when binged reading Good job Although I'm not sure if this is allowed or not in here
Its a third parts code and i'm not posting the actual code here so its fine i guess. I've made reader modes for websites with no next chapter link on them. I can post them if people wanna use them.
https://xkcd.com/1319/ I think this link is all I have to contribute to the discussion. NovelUpdates was never intended to be an aggregator, afaik.
That's very true. When I tried to binge read Lms I had that problem. I wanted to read the comments so I tried reading it from the original sites. But that was kinda difficult because the volumes had different translators. However, I'm getting to read it for free so who am I to complain
