So, I've started mtling some novels because im really impatient and need to know whats happening asap. However I need some tips on how to understand it better while im doing so. If anyone has any tips i'd be grateful if you could share them!
Your best bet is to check out sites like lnmtl or comrademao instead of doing it yourself. If they don't have the novel you want to read, you can try to get it listed on them. ... If you must do it yourself, though, you can try to take a page out of their book and use a glossary. That's a list of key terms and common phrases from the novel (you'll have to make it yourself) so that the MTL software doesn't trip over them. Just getting the main character's name right every time it appears would already be a huge improvement over raw MTL. Other than that. Idk.. just try different MTL'ers and find the one that works best for that novel... Here, have a random list of MTL'ers. https://ravenbluesday.wordpress.com...iable-handibook-online-mtls-and-dictionaries/
step 1: leave everything to google sensei step 2: use the basic english knowledge to fix the mess of a translation that the retard google sensei puked out step 3: demand donation on patreon like a pro TL-er step 4: apply to QI to get a steady stream of $ in exchange for freedom and become a member of the Sect
Do you know any MTL software that lets you use your own glossary? I don't have a problem with Chinese since I can use lnmtl but I'm looking for something for JP/KR
use "Substitution" a feature in Translation Aggregator. Edit: you can try to look it up on google how Translator Aggregator works. The most important thing is you need to input your own translation for unknown word/term. Ex:yareyare, mofumofu, fuwafuwa, etc(jp). Japtem(kr)
Try sites like lntml first, since they have the glossary updated quite regularly by the users. You can try translator extensions like imTranslator, s3 translator, TranslationComparison. If nothing, then chrome>translate this page to google. Most importantly, keep in mind that once you go down this path, for you, English won't be the same again Keep coffee/tea at hand constantly for brain maintenance and to persevere, and aspirin when it becomes too much to handle. Side effects include regular mtl cravings, and strangely having difficulty comprehending normal human translations, and tending to prefer anagrams in place of standard English sentences.
Don’t try to understand everything, but instead try to grasp the general meaning of each sentence/paragraph.
Tips : 1. Do not read, just skim for the general meaning of the sentences/paragraphs/chapters 2. u may have to skim the entire sentence/paragraph/chapter/mabe even the next chapter to even understand what went on last chapter 3. there are some novels which are simply impossible to understand with mtl, this is for a variety of reasons, such as too many new concepts, too many new characters, improper mtl from google, comedy because it cant really be conveyed through mtl and some other reasons 4. do not think too deeply on the concepts the author uses for magic or machinery or stuff like in point 1 & 2 because its got a 50/50 chance of being wrong anyways 5. the more u do this the easier it gets but there will always be some novels which simply dont work with mtl
The grammar in English is different than in Chinese. So prepare for that Ex: 你好,你是谁? Would translate to; Hello, who are you? But translating word to word would be; Hello, you is who?
I'm with the Don't crowd. Also, For the poor fellow who wants to MTL JP - that's just a no brainer (in both interpretations: don't and expect zombieification) Japanese particle-based grammar is so totally different from western languages as to be a completely different linguistic map. Chinese is at least mildly more machine translatable.
