I actually prefer vanilla romance. It's very relatable. However, I tend to not read CN, JP, and KR romance dramas. They kinda suck and are too cookie-cutter. If it's ancient China, it's always a prince or a general. If it's modern day its some CEO. *sigh* There are a few fantasy romances that are good but I only enjoy like 2% of them, probably.
Hm... I mean, I don't know if you're imagining female/female relationships to be more "other" than they really are? There's definitely a different dynamic, and many NUF novels (especially Chinese novels, I've found) play into the more traditional masculine/feminine roles, but... Two people having a romance is still all it will really be, if you remove all the prejudice from it? I was going to recommend you some yuri that doesn't have "seme/uke" roles, but I realised that some of my recommendations are already in your reading list. Could I ask what yuri you've tried and why you feel it doesn't satisfy your expectations? Hm.. I could probably point you in the direction of some good Western f/f romance, if there's nothing you don't like from them apart from the hetero?
Might be the porn. Nope, it definitely is all the porn I have seen. Most lesbian relationships revolve around sex, so something different from the usual male/female relationship happens in those. Isn't that what most people tend to envision being a part of a loving relationship? If there isn't sex. Then the two are just really amazing friends. It feels off. And the novels that try to have that kind of goal usually take on the old school style of romance. I just figured it was different. My bad.
Yeah, we're definitely not sexing each other up 24/7... Also, a lot of lesbian porn is super bad and is played by straight women anyway. That's sex for titillation rather than realistic, loving sex. (Although I definitely disagree that a relationship needs sex anyway.) But if it's just yuri with both sex and romance that you want, I'm sure I can dig plenty up?
Same. I dont mind yuri but it falls more for me in cute girls doing cute things and more. Infact I dont really read/watch yuri almost ever, just that I dont mind it at all and would definitely check it out. But vanilla romance is the best!!
For GL with both sex and romance... Spoiler: Behind a spoiler for people who don't care Try "When Women Were Warriors". It's not a GL/yuri per se, because it's a Western book series, but it's a very beautiful slow-burn romance with plenty of sex and plot (actual, real plot, not "plot") in a fantasy shield-maiden world. The gender roles are also very realistic. You can get the first book for free here. "My eyes can see" is a Western webnovel that I'm fond of. It's about a girl whose life has gone downhill after developing superpowers that allow her to see through things, who's then found out by the class pretty girl. If you're okay with there just being sexual tension/obvious sexual attraction, but no sex, the fantasy manga "Flower Flower" has some sexual undertones but is mostly fluff (sadly cancelled), and the slightly famous webtoon "Mage & Demon Queen" is a great comedy full of fetish jokes and a mage who's hot for the demon queen. Also, "Creo the Crimson Crises" is also cancelled and has a strict seme/uke dynamic, but it's a great fantasy series and it's full of sexual passion. It was likely never consummated only because we never reached that point~! (I somehow didn't save the link to this one and I can't access Dynasty since I'm at uni, but a short search on the site will bring it to you... I'll add the link later.) "Haru Natsu Aki Fuyu" is a manga with both romance and sex, set in an all girls' school and focusing on three different pairs within it. And that should probably be enough for now~! Maybe?
Damn how could I forget this gem?! I stopped reading LINE a couple months ago, I should definitely catch up! Thanks for reminding me!
No, I don’t touch hetero stuff. And I do have some novels on Wattpad that I enjoy. I don’t know if I’m picky or not, but there are not a ton of them. Maybe it’s because I already explored what I can read within what I can withstand. “The Art of Magic” https://my.w.tt/Y69mEk6EBU “Hades” https://my.w.tt/iDftYJ9EBU “Cursed Blood” https://my.w.tt/KuXm1MbFBU “Starstruck” https://my.w.tt/WMdUhzeFBU “Keepers of the Tower” https://my.w.tt/E6J2AKiFBU “The Difference” https://my.w.tt/JTxAQTkFBU I don’t know how much about the gender roles in Chinese Yuri novels, but my only flaw with them right now is that I don’t understand a single word unless I mtl. This is only my second year reading Chinese yuri novels after all. I known anime and yuri for 7/8 years but I didn’t get into Webnovels until 2016.
Ooh, those look really interesting~! I was going to recommend some LGBT+ Western works, but if you've already tried them and found you don't like them, there's not much point.
MFW potatoes is in third place, ahead of Vanilla I guess the guy preaching about how potatoes are goddess is having success converting people
