This novel is so fucking frustrating to read. The author makes the story too confusing by telling the story in such a weird fucking order. And every chapters ends abruptly without really progressing, and adds that with a once in a blue moon updates.

So - the story is 6 years old, and I'm too frustrated to bother waiting on reading this any more. I really liked the premise, and if the story were linear enough to, y'know, actually have a story, I could handle that like all the others on NU.

Unfortunately, this style of writing cannot survive piecemeal translation; it practically requires binging to you can connect the evolving plotlines and empathize with the character development - which are the key points of nonlinear storytelling, and are totally lost without the complete novel being presented at once.

    Regrettable.

Perhaps? It's tough to tell. A linear storyline has a setting, buildup, climax, and coda, so even if it's translated piecemeal, you can at least infer the plot progression stage and get a feel for the quality of the story, since the plot itself is key, with character development secondary (if it happens at all). With a non-linear or juxtaposed-timeline progression, its the character development that's key to the understanding of the plot progression, and that simply can't survive a piecemeal release, since it's comparative, vs the more qualitative linear progression. So with nothing to compare to, the story is lost.

And I really regret that, since the part we have so far - returning to a changed home in a reverse isekai - was certainly unique when it was first published, and still is quite rare.

No - you are not allowed to mention The Returner. That sucked far too badly to be acknowledged in this genre. Why can't we have smart OP MC's that actually learn things and gain maturity in the centuries they were gone?? This was a rare and formerly treasured example.

PS: From RRL: 'The Dao of Magic' - the first cultivation novel I've ever read that actually explores how an OP smart MC truly learns to think differently and evolves mentally (not just physically) after a thousand years of cultivation. Of course, in that scenario, normal bounds of sanity no longer apply, so it's a bit trippy.

hmm back and forth is not problem for me
imo it have higher difficulty compared with linear story cuz it need stronger key point to connect~ similar with how sporadic comedy work
    what the theme?
tbh I kinda expect something like flash back on one arc but not too long then move then or back again or something like turning extra/side story into main arc but after read da raw my conclusion da story is a mess
foreshadow on shallow mode at best

There's one other good example, Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka? You could try reading the whole thing chronologically, but parts of it won't make any sense.

According to the TOC on the raws site, there seems to be just one more time jump in the story. However it just continues from the 3rd arc time axis. So it means that after this 2nd arc, you can go to the 3rd arc chapters and from then on the chapters are going to be told in chronological order.

In truth, I've been holding off on reading the 3rd arc chapters because of this. I been waiting and only started reading this when Neo translated the 1st arc (not the jumble of "prologue" chapters).

Author's talent and sense is superb. World building is very creative. MC's personality is too complex, but still very likeable. Heroine? I can't decide the best one, cause many heroine s at this series are so attractive.

I think maybe the confussing timeline the auhtor use migth contribute, not to mention that it isn't a easy to follow novel, with its complexity and theme.

After the arc 2, its timeline and chapter's order became quite straight, other than our mc's premonition tragedy dreams.

It does, because a good number of translators dropped this series continuesly.
