Minimizing ads isn't much different from blocking them, though, really.

A necessary evil. for example, youtube is virtually unusable without an adblocker unless you paid for ads to be removed.

also, My phone plan has limited data and i hate how loading pages for the simple text on them (A.K.A the chapter) ends up with multitudes of ads trying to spend my weeks data allowance in seconds.

what's important is that you choose a trustworthy asblocker, and that you have additional security software that monitors and restricts the freedom of actions of other things like the adblockers.

my security software has its own adblocker, but it doesnt perform amazingly, so instead i use script blockers to prevent ads. script blockers have the added benefit of not running any ads or scripts of their own, so almost worry free

Think its totally fine to use em, just whitelist sites you use as long as they don't have 2 billion adds cluttering everything.

I remember that time where a certain site asked me to disable adblocker to support them so I did it.

… infinite loop of redirection to scam site, so much I stopped reading the entire series.

Well, I think it is a good compromise, it is not 100% blocking the ads
It is like a sliding scale in donation
    Donating what you can afford

I use an adblocker, with a completely custom list.

Everything on that list specifically bothered me in some way, originally it was for things that automatically played audio or video without my consent (basically if I can hear something other than my music without having hit a play button, these are generally on a tab or window that isn't even the active one), then I started adding redirects that prevented me getting to pages or downloads that were my entire purpose for visiting wherever they were redirecting me from.

As such I consider myself completely justified in using the adblocker & feel no guilt about blocking what I block.

That depends on Adblockers for example Adblock Plus have whitelisted ads enabled by default while Ublock Origin does not...

I personally use Ublock Origin (Hard Mode with Inline script blocking) + Nano Defender

I'm the one who will decide which sites are ok to be whitelisted~

I've turned off my adblocker once after discovering ad blockers existed. The ads hijacked the page and tried to tell me my phone was infected because ad networks allow JavaScript in pages and the ad networks don't vet their ads. So I'll keep using Ublock Origin and donate to sites when I feel like it.

@Westeller hit the nail on the head. If most ads werent so pointless, problematic or just downright wrong content for the subject site then most people wouldnt use adblockers.

I do like RR's recent move though. For adblock users, they instead display unobtrusive internal RR ads that advertise premium or upcoming RR novels being published.

If you pay me, I’ll watch your ads. We both get 50%.

Why should you get all the revenue?

I don't mind adblockers that display ads they considered safe, as long as it doesn't get in my way it's fine.
At the same time, I disable my adblock in a bunch of sites I use frequent to give them a chance to earn some money, and only enable it again if it turns out that the website is unusable with ads on.

For me, I use both adblocker (can't remember which), along with a plugin to selectively block javascript based on the script itself.

Ads or skriptblocker are needed. Sites are loading faster you do not have something like 10 windows pop-ups, self loading tabs, the x for close is not a close but a hyperlink and so on.

Maybe i hurt one of 10 sites because i use them but the other 9 over use the ads which frustrate me, steal my time on the long term.
This all is just a prologue for a question What do i use internet for?
And that is mostly a form of entertainment(information there included), to switch myself off after work not for frustrating myself with some misplaced ads.

Never turn it off. Doesn't matter if the ads are decently out of the way and undisruptive, I'm not going to turn it off to find out. I'm never going to buy anything off an ad so I don't feel guilty denying the $0.05 you make off displaying it to my traffic.

I think for some sites you donate a certain amount for using adblock, but most sites I'm on tend to have little to no ads even without my adblock

There is 2 types of Ads which i( and most users) hates:
    - Ads that cover or dimming our reading/watching content.
    - Ads that stay a layer atop of what we supposed to click on( which i hate the Ads type that if we refresh/head to the new page of the same website that they popin' up again).
Yeah, we still have to live with it. Adblocker will do, but not for extentive ammount of time, and not those need Ads to stay afloat.
    -.-

I’ve been using Firefox Focus. Works good and doesn’t even trigger most Adblock detection messages.:blobhero:

    For iPad works well.:blobhero:

    Yep.:blobrofl:

Btw...on laptop I go adblocker free. With Avast antivirus and weekly cleans with Ccleaner. Fav anime download site does not like adblocker.

    Pesky browser malware!:blobcurse::blobspearpeek:
