You know, I think this meme might influence the game too much by now. On various levels.

Ten large coppers a person!? What kind of fancy meal can you even get in a tavern!?

The lowest level of a "fancy" meal costs around 30 small coppers. A bottle of wine costs between 5 small coppers (not the best quality though) to 40 small coppers; How did Cinis end up paying 20 large coppers!?

The thing is: It was already good. Any more "excitement" would cause the inspector's character to become bad, flat, and/or lacking.

 

Cheap wine is cheap and common the water is not all that trustworthy so wine and beer are actually the more common drink. So they should be cheap but have super expensive variants.

 

What has this got to do with the price that Cinis had to pay?

 

They got a super expensive variant most likely rather than basic stuff...

What's next chief? Super duper deluxe 99% alcohol Dwarven wine? Oh sure, they might be expensive, but you can buy those everywhere, even in the tavern of a town that is 200 miles away from the capital! (Sarcasm)

You mean a tavern which is frequented by people who do a large amount of travelling? Like adventurers some of whom might be indebted to the bar owner and thus bring him wines and such? I mean it's not imposssible at all... Also the tavern has already been shown to be multiple times to have fairly high class foods present and a wide variety of products sold within it. Also the man is an envoy from a foreign power they might have someone staffing to make sure people like him gets high class stuff that would not normally be present in the town.

 

Food cost could reach a completely ridiculous level, especially the fancy ones. Who know, maybe the barkeep broke out a vintage wine or something.

Usually, when people are indebted, it is some financial debts. And when it comes to financial debts, people tend to pay with money, and not wine.
It is not impossible, but rather improbable.

High class food? Sure.
Variety of products? Sure.
Beverage worth more than 50 small coppers? Improbable.
Randgriz-Class Luxury Meals? Highly improbable.

This answer is the best answer to solve my question. However, it also leads to other questions:
1. Where was this stated?
2. Why is this not stated at the first, second or third post of the Tavern?
3. Why is an envoy from a foreign country working as a bartender? He could've literally done anything other than being one. For example: Becoming an inspector who's interviewed Cinis.
4. How does he acquire the meals, unless he has hired high class chefs as his staff? The travel from Randgriz to Nagrand lasts a minimum of 2 days by horse including rest. Beverages and ingredients are good to go, but I doubt fresh meals will remain "fresh" for that long.

 

Maybe the next one, also got a quest going

I won't deny the possibility, but I question as to why he would ever do so instead of preserving such delicacy for a grand event, such as celebrating the fail of the cultist raid?

 

At this point I simply wonder whether @Unreachable Hope had paid 10 large coppers for both of them per person or for both of them together...

 

It's not even fancy. 5LC per person is barely mid-class splurging.
