Am i the only one who really hates the omegaverse trope? (Bl)

So i will start with the whole omegaverse hype. Like what's so Great about this trope that almost all yaoi manga/novels the couple last years all have this trope? They all have the same story/cliche. Like there's always the omegas, alphas and betas. The mc and ml are almost always an omega and an alpha. When there's a love triangle, the Beta will always never end with the mc/ml. And the whole omega character who wil be pregnant at the end of the story. Or that the omegas are almost always discriminated and how the alphas are always the best. The betas are just the normal, common people. It's just so repetitive these days. This trend needs to stop period.

cliche's will never stop only change over time desu

after all the cliche 100 years ago was how many slaves you owned desu

 

As a fan of Desolate Era and Xianxia novels, this is not what I expected when I opened this thread.

 

congratulations you have seen something that is common in all love triangle cliches in which the 2nd love interest doesn't win. this is common regardless of sexual orientation of the characters

 

Me too friend. When I saw the title I thought it would be some multiverse thing or a Russian nesting doll of universes

 

You're not the only one. Trust me. I'm a die hard fan of werewolf soulmates and its more heartbreaking, because it will have long term consequences when one gets rejected and so on etc. And when one dies, the other is one step into the grave, if they are bonded, if not, the other will still feel the emptiness but maybe find someone else.

And nope, omegas aren't always displayed as weak there.

P.S Although most western werewolf original stories are just meh. Teen wolf fics has more gems in that area.

I do agree that the omegaverse sucks, but for me it is because it cheapens the whole BL experience.
I mean, the omega is for all intents and purposes just a pettanko futa (flat chick with a d-). If I were to read BL, I want it to be BL.

The stereotyped personalities are also quite the boorish move, if I may say so, it severely limits the characters and their characterizations.

 

I didn't like the trope either, then I read a couple of decent novels on the theme and now I don't dislike it anymore. I admit it's not my fav trope, but there are some novels that are not bad. It really depends on the novel, some are pure b******t cliche, some have a nice plot

 

I once read a BL novel where:
MC is alpha turned into omega,
ML is alpha who like MC, that' why he turn MC to omega
And the love rival is an omega girl turned alpha
It is quite a shock.

There's also a BG novel with alpha FMC and alpha ML.

Both is quick transmigration, but the variety is refreshing

technically a cliche is whats typical and or predictable to the point that its kinda annoying, so it technically counts as one desu

 

basically there's 3 (6 if you count boys and girls) gender in omegaverse:

• Alpha: superman, genius, super strong, etc. The bosses. Can only be born by alpha+omega parent. Boys and girls have diiiiii
• Beta: average. Most working people.
• Omega: weak. Release pheromones every month that arouses beta and make alpha so aroused they lose rationality. Boys and girls can get pregnant

Do not know the novel but as far as i know they came from supremacy theory one of the most know use other then in Nazi-Aryan-thing was in the book BRAVE NEW WORLD which used the terms in 1932 and is one of the "best" dystopian novel written if you take into account when it was written, technological advances that were used in the book before they were developed in real.

But yes today we use the more the alpha etc more like a meme.

Isn't that like every love story ever. Mc is discriminated against because of situations beyond their control. And the ml I always superior in almost every way while the second love interest it's just a little bit inferior to the ml. The love interest never gets the mc. Those I do have to say omegaverse is not for everyone. Just like mpreg, BEs, and non 1x1 pairings. As for the kid thing/pregnancy, don't forget having a child is generally seen as being the epitome of happiness. Most of them have adoption or some other way of having a kid this is just a more direct way. I think they just still has a very big emphasis on having a blood related child. I think this still a problem in the west just to a lesser extent.
