Question What do you hate that some translators do?

I personally hate the Links of chapters that have inside a time span.
like: "www.XXXtranslationsXXX.xxx/2001/05/Awesome_Novel/chapter-XX-i-am-alive"

then there is the fact of why the hell you put the chapter name in the URL?... those two things kills the method of only increasing the chapter number because being realistic the groups that do this don't have an automatic Buttons for the next and previous chapter

Seeing people how they hate some bad things that translators do; I can only say that i am grateful to all of the translators for their work, i cant add a comment with "Thanks for the chapter" in more than 5000+ different chapters (i am not int he same level of "GM_Rusaku") but i have to thank the translators of their work, Thanks to Everyone.

 

I hate it when translators translate novels, dammit.

 

I hate it when translators tell you to subscribe to T-Series, dammit.

 

I don't enjoy when the chapter is filled with Translator notes/Editor notes that disrupt the flow of the sentence or paragraph, Like when a funny moment is happening and the Translator/Editor has to comment about it over and over again

 

When they use mtl... without editing them to be readable..

As for the actual OPs question, claiming a shitty mtl translations is something you should be paid for. You're not translating, you're defacing the novel for monetary gain.

 

I hate it when translators ask me to pay. I am freeloading, not complaining about the quality and the quantity and clicking ads. Why you want to me pay again? I might as well read regular books.

 

I hate about how some translator websites with blockadblock. Yeah, we know you guys need ads for survival, but not everyone can risk it with ads nowadays, even if the translator guarantee it. Never really get a good memory with ads.

 

As an addition to this: even if the ads are fine, sometimes the sites become so slow and resource draining from all of the ads piled into the pages.

 

Going on hiatus while completely lying about the time they gonna come back. I mean RL is a bitch, NU has a 3 months policy (some translators good at abusing the policy...) and me losing interest of the work real fast once i know translation is not coming to town.

Releasing chs when I don't hv the time to be reading them... I'm obligated to make time to go thru them, which delays work.

 

When it adds informative things yes, but when it adds things like "Lol" "Owned" and other obnoxious things its annoying.

 

Wordpress generates urls with dates you can't edit?

 

• Leaving translatable words untranslated
  
• Not having a link to the next or previous chapter.
• Really questionable translation quality that manages to fail so spectacularly it changes the meaning of the original sentence. (Won't name names)
  
  Other than that: I'm really grateful for the thankless work all translators, editors, site admins, etc. do for practically no pay.

 

This. This one hurts my soul.

When you are putting out unreadable MTL for a wonderful novel, you permanently tarnish its ratings on NovelUpdates. Even if a decent translator wanted to go back and retranslate from ch 1, those 1-star ratings won't go away. The novel will rarely, if ever, recover from those shit ratings.

Many people won't even give the new translation a try once they see those ratings. Many translators won't even pick up the novel because of all the low ratings that already exist. That's an absolute travesty if you ask me. We, as readers, are being deprived of a potentially wonderful novel simply because of its unreadable-MTL legacy.

The URL thing is mostly laziness fault, that's Wordpress default setting and some people never bother to change the settings of thingies they use.

I don't mind those, for as long as they're footnotes.

If you put notes in the middle of the chapter in parenthesis though... Off with you head!

You can edit, just need to change settings.

I never found a single translator that cared for ratings in NU at all when deciding rather or not they should pick up a novel.

Even the translators that do care for NU stats only care for the amount of people that have the novel in their Reading List (since that indicates how many readers you'll have), the rating doesn't matter.

Best thing you can do is just ignore rating altogether.
