Discussion Lol QI screwed up

I don't normally use the Webnovel app, it's not that good, but accidentally on Mar 21st I did and it seemed QI was offering a new subscription deal...Read every single novel on their site for £20ish/~$30 or so.

And then I knew...QI fucked up. Within the couple of days I've have it I've read over $100 worth of novels and they've just decided to cancel the subscription. I can't have been the only one to try out the deal so they've potentially lost thousands.

I have until the 21st of April so I'm just gonna binge and binge on just about every novel they have, lol, I read in the future every business is going to turn subscription based [Netflix+] just... maybe not translated novels yet QI.

 

I'm jealous, i'm slowly losing my drive to read novels, i'm only reading the daily updates of my favorite novel nowadays

 

Would be a nice option if it didn't involve giving money to qi. I guess it's like only having to eat a small piece of shit, rather than a large piece.... Tho I still can't figure out why you're eating it at all.

Why anyone would believe anything this company said is beyond me. I still remember when they first started out. The lie back then was that they weren't going after novels that were already being translated. Then it was not using paywalls. They've shown themselves to be greedy and corrupt. Moreover their pay scheme has screwed up the flow of a bunch of novels that were actually good before Qidian became a thing.

 

Think about it some more.

What if you paid twenty bucks, just right arrow through all chapters without reading them, and then read them after the subscription cancels? Doesn't that sound like an easy exploit?

Additionally, subscription is like loaning not like ownership. You should assume the default is not being able to access that content when the subscription ends.

As for the actual answer and not my speculation, you can easily find it answered by WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL using a search engine:

 

Just use an aggregator for qi novels. U won't need to pay, and the aggregator gets a tiny profit instead of qi getting a large one. Definitely lesser of two evils. I mean it sucks that you have to give aggregators profit, but if you really can't avoid the novels funding an aggregator is more agreeable than filling the pockets of those creatures at qidian.


And if you're feeling guilty just go donate on the qi site to the author. Qidian still takes a lions share, because they are disgusting beings I don't even call human, but at least the author will get some of it. The authors get nothing when you pay for the English tls.
