How will you manage your romance life? As a general case, your main wife or the empress would be a woman from a family that can maintain your stability as an Emperor, maybe princess from neighbouring kingdom or a girl from Duke family in your kingdom. Will you take another women to your romance life? Will you treat them only as political tools to maintain your status? or will you gather women to satisfy your "needs" ? Also as general case, a single woman as your partner during an emperor's reign is unlikely to be done. Even as I read some literature about it, your wife's dowry would also include some other women to satisfy your lust (Excuse me, WTF). But, this is an 'IF' scenario, so I would like to read your thoughts about it and why you choose that particular number and reasoning.. Thanks for reading and responding to this thread~
Either only one, in case the wife and I are genuinely in love and she cares for me (not my position), or two, where I am cordial to my wife, maybe we even like eachh other but don't really love each other. Then I would in the little free time I would have dress up as a low-lowest rank noble/equivalent and get to meet people, eventually meeting a woman and take her as a concubine.
Maintaining a relationship with only one person is exhausting. A harem would probably make me abdicate and run away.
If I am an emperor, then the first thing I am thinking about is maintaining my position as the Lord. Marry at least 3 women for political situations. Whether I can satisfy them or not is obvious, but as an emperor, gotta do the right thing.
Most likely only one true love, a second one would be such improbable that I honestly don't know how would that happen.

A harem of yanderes, not tell any of them of the emperor identity, keep the existence of each one of them a secret from each other, make each of them pregnant and raise the children to be even more yanderes. Arrange for a situation where they all meet each other and tell them the truth and that there can only be one successor. Run away and watch the empire burn and fall to ruin
I want to say I would fall in love with one woman, and maybe have a couple more <10 for lust/politics. But I know myself well enough that, as I am now, I would quickly grow a little addicted to power which will probably lead to becoming one of those stereotypical no-good rulers. But that's only if I, as the emperor, enjoy Abslolute Power. If I'm just an emperor with a bunch of scheming and powerfull vasslas and/or neighbouring empires, I would be less likely to go fatuously power mad and become more of a depressed burn-out case... Wow, after thinking this through, I see no good reason I should be emperor. I think being a highly capable but unlanded courtier is more up my ally. Something like treasurer or something. To have power and wealth, but bein able to enjoy it without having the pressure of an entire fucking empire on my shoulders.

The Emperor doesn't hv much of a say in choosing the Empress. The Empress could be butt ugly in looks and/or personality, and u would still be stuck with her. A harem is kinda mandatory. As an emperor, I will worried about my country first than my romance. Tropico 5 all the way! Still haven't played Tropico 6.
Several though not useless jade face with an ice-cold personality. Personally, I'd rather make a harem based on how talented they are in certain areas like management/business/etc... Since I do not want any other family other than my own to place on those position as it will reduce the possibility of rebellion in the future if only a single family controls it.
If I became an emperor, I might be lucky enough to find even one willing to live with me (through arranged marriage).
