I'd like to read some more novels with dragons~! But not just any old dragon thrown into a chapter or two. I'd like a Western-style dragon who's a big part of the story, ideally one of the main characters. I also don't want a dragon who just shapeshifts into human form and from then on is just a human with some horns or something. The more actual dragon form in use, the better! Ones where the dragon just shows up in places to get fought/killed are pretty unsatisfying, so avoid those if you can please. (And before anyone recommends I search the dragon tag: I try, but it's full of all types of nonsense and stories that have dragons for like one scene.) Novels I've already read/know of: Esoril's Dragon Invisible Dragon (this very much isn't what I want but I'm mentioning it before someone else does) It’s Because You Said There Would Be Candy!! Trash of the Count’s Family Be in awe of the great Roan Miru! toddler dragon that always accompanies the MC while invisible. It does take a couple of chapters before he appears. Not strictly what you want but still might be good.

More dragons, Novel - Mondaiji tachi - okay listen first. One of the main Antagonists, Azi Dahaka, is a dragon. https://mondaiji.fandom.com/wiki/Azi_Dahaka . he appeared in one of the later volumes. Tensei slime shitara had a dragon in early chaps, have not read the novel tho. Manga - Fairy tail
Slime Tensei There's a dragon that partnered with the Slime MC. Doesn't transform far as I know. Appears early on. ZTJ MC accidentally finds a dragon. Hilariously, the dragon refuses to show the MC the human form. They form quite the interesting bond as the story progresses. Book Eating Magician Dragons pretty much appear in the endgame, if you don't count the femme fatale quarter-dragon who relies quite heavily on dragon transformations whenever there's a huge fight. Very western-esque. These were the memorable ones off the top of my head! And play Skyrim if you want a dragon plot heavy story haha

You could try “The Dungeon Struggle of an Earth Dragon!“ I found it decent but not really my cup of tea so I dropped it after 20 chapters or so.

He also has a Griffin as a pet which he transform into a dragon with his ability and other dragons The Magus of Genesis - MC reincarnated into a dragon and he created magic and a civilization.
It seems like he's pretty much just a human from the description in the first, and just a slime in the second? Exactly what I don't want. But thank you anyway.
