Really just saw the manga and the heroe design is quite of meh, but the Demon King has nothing to do with the design he has on the novel.

Yeah, that's completely antithetical to the spirit of the novel. It's supposed to be a humorous and scathing commentary on the cookie cutter video game isekai genre as a whole.

What are two of the very first things that happen?

Our hero takes the time to verbally mock the dying Mercenary A. This is a critical establishing moment - this guy was the mook of a muppet, the lowliest of the low. He did no harm or even offense to Our Hero - it wasn't an act of revenge, just some casual collateral murder. Belittling him after murdering him demonstrates that Our Hero is an irredeemable asshole.

Then, when he confronts the Demon King, the first thing he wants to know: Why the hell did he keep feeding him EXP and treasure? It's brushed off in the moment, but later on we do discover there actually is a decent reason for this behavior. There's cause, and then effect, and it's all very logical. This establishes that this world does operate logically. (You could even compare it to JJ Abrams' "mystery boxes", except that there are actually things inside the boxes once you open them.)

The reward incentives in that world lead to some twisted behavior by design (as they do in the real world as well, but we've been conditioned from birth to believe our world is perfectly "normal").

But instead of injecting such depressing realism, cut that all out - we'll have this be a cartoon and have our serial killer behave like a 9 year old cartoon character instead.

 

The demon king mentioned 'patch' , he might be in on it being a moderated 'game' world and as the hero grows strong enough he gains some influence over it. Next run should have a difference, like busty demon starting with him or him starting on the demon side.

 

That doesn't explain why this playthrough the Demon King has a Z-rank skill and a daughter seemingly out of nowhere, so there must be something different (though our MC being afk for 6 years could be the reason I guess)

 

Well I got surprised that the Demon King was that strong.

 

His 1st playthrough took him over 10 years. So unless it's a triggered event from leveling up too much, maybe not.

It looks like they're adjusting the settings on his simulation (since the standard program is a trivial joke to him now) - one problem Professor Morals stressed was that it was supposed to be impossible to defeat the Demon King without the cowardly power of friendship. That Our Hero needed to know the taste of failure.

 

It isn't only DK level that goes down if the hero is weak, all his skills go down too.

 

I'm curious if the Demon King's daughter will join the MC. I think those two would get along great.

My bet for why the Demon King's Daughter was there that time is that the Demon King needs the hero for some reason (Like to regain his strength quickly) and his daughter was Plan B when he disappeared. It would make sense to not reveal it, since she's kinda unbeatable and would raise questions the MC already had about Demon King being his greatest supporter

1 week = 7 chapter
10 week = 70 chapter
20 week = 140 chapter
current chapter 70 + 140 = 210 chapter
so, we will wait probably 5 month, while the author still progress around 7 chapter/ week too
it will be different if the novel completed or TL make release schedule like OG early chapter 20ch/week
but, everyone have a different circumstance and of course need money for everyday life
it's not like there's no another novel to read while waiting till catch up, and i'm really thankful bcs someone decide to translate this novel
