    Game obsessed...nope...

    Clinical case of obsessive compulsive disorder MC fixated on a VRMMORPG dies after his main character account is hacked. It’s implied he committed suicide, but not confirmed.

    He is reincarnated into a “standby” character created in the game he was obsessed with, in which his main character (the one hacked) managed to achieve World Rank #1. He becomes “Second” and starts a new life in a world almost identical to his game world. His goal? Become number 1 again!

    Why you should read:

    Hilarious. The misunderstandings between someone this game obsessed, and real people in this world who fail to understand his fixation on becoming number 1 is oft funny, and is for us at NU familiar trope. However, due to the fact that “Second” was created to be a five star bishounen, we get girls who are seriously in love with the MC, but due to his game obsession, he is completely unaware. Again, a familiar trope, but even in the raws, certain chapters are hilarious. His secret fan club is...scary.:blobfearful::blobrofl:

    Interesting how to gain certain skills, you need to fulfill certain conditions. Naturally information on those conditions are monopolized by the nobles, and hopefully we see some interesting plot twists about the conflict. We get a hint of it in the raws.:blobhero:

    I like it, it’s to my taste. It’s like salted, buttery popcorn. No revenge driven angst, or save the world, but often fun, light, very fattening junk food novel. Try it.:blobhero:(it really won’t make you fat):blobokhand:

    Warning: The Sturgeon General’s recommendation is to consume this novel in moderation due to high levels of saturated fat and high fructose corn syrup. (but who listens to fish?)

    Chapter 10...

    In case you haven’t figured it out, despite reading chapter 11, the MC took that massively painful hit to fulfill the conditions for Sylvia to get Rook Archery.

    Yep, he literally risked his life to strengthen his team. This may be the MC’s greatest weapon...stupidity.:p:p

    I think the concept of people in this game-like world are weaker than game player is nothing new. The interesting part of this novel is the skill ranking system. No other novel uses shogi as reference for the skill rank.

    I do like that in this story unlike the MC going to magic academy to basically fulfill the author’s wish fulfillment, they’re there to raid for skill books...

    Once again we see the difference between gaming and real Isekai. In a gaming Isekai novel, the world adheres to a variant of the game it is based on and player cheats work. In a regular Isekai, the MC has to follow the rules of the new world.

    In a gaming Isekai, it often seems that the player is bullying the Isekai world to get their way. :p
