Discussion Novel with the greatest number of chapters you have read on novelupdates

As you can see from the title which is the novel with greatest number of chapters you have read on novelupdates.
Personally for me the novel with the greatest number of chapters i have read is Emperor's Domination and i am on chapter 3401 on it ( after that i took a break from it which should be a few months ago ).
While the novel the greatest number of chapters i have ever seen on novelupdates is
The Demonic King Chases His Wife: The Rebellious Good-for-Nothing Miss
This novel has a whooping 10749 ( ITS OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ) Chapters in it and it is still ongoing *sweats*

Its quite terrifying when i see that number. I still wonder if its just 9500 filler and 500 story and also does the author not get tired of writing so many chapters for the same story

Actually when i see other people's replies i wonder if i have done something quite terrifying ( well i have read ED's whole of more than 3k chaps when i was bored with some other novels and had nothing interesting to read )

Who has the patience to endure one story for over 10000 chapters?!
And where did you find 10000 is not the current latest chapter on nu the 1736? Or could it be... MTL???

 

I've yet to find a story that would stay interesting that long. Closest is the 2.2k length of Martial World. Martial God Asura has 3.3k chapters currently translated, but I dropped that series back around chapter 400. It was way too blandly repetitive, with new higher tier enemies appearing virtually out of nowhere right when the cleared up the last batch of morons.

The problem in most of such novel what they not long but repetitive. If its cultivation novel - then protagonist always discover what there someone more powerful above them, be it individual, country or dimension where top of they country (continent, dimension) cultivation is bottom of the barrel. So they go there and essentially start from scratch. Rinse and repeat until you got bored. If it romance novel then it endless parade of misunderstanding, dance around issue and/or unresolved sexual tension. Main cast got close, then something happen and they become distant, then something happen again and they become close but never go all the way in relationship. They can become couple somewhere in middle of novel but then something happen AGAIN and story repeat itself until you bored. If I see novel with 2000+ chapters then its instant red flag for me because in my opinion any idiot can write long novel, making its interesting required talent and most such novels authors have none.

The longest novel I read was around 1200+ but I skimmed about 1/2 of total chapter. And read 3 chapter before ended. Lol

 

The most I read was Warlock of the Magus World.

 

I have short span interest disorder. Ive finished ISSTH Coiling dragon... i forgot the rest but i think thats the longest ive read. Most will be abandoned after 900ish or maybe 50ish LOL

Is a scam. It has a good story but unfortunately each chapter was filled with author either praising the ML or writing villains inward rants or describing useless thing that didnt do anything to move the story forward. Did i mention each chap was short as hell? I like it at first #less fans started to smack me for this# but after 600ish.. it gets really old....

Chinese webnovel with more than 2,000+ chapters are either

1) Recycle plot
We can see this type a lot in xianxia novel
This type is fun at first but get more and more boring later as plot keep Recycle

2) Truely shortest chapter ever / MC do one action per chapter
(1 action per chapter LMAO. I feel like i am not read a novel but playing a game now)
this type can appear any genre of novel but we can see them more often in romance or slice of life genre

Example of type 2 in romance novel
-female MC go to eat some lunch with ML at restaurants-
chapter1 - MC wait for ML car
chapter2 - ML arrive at MC location
chapter3 - MC get in car
chapter4 - MC ride car to restaurants
chapter5 - MC arrive at restaurants
chapter6 - Waiter lead MC and ML to empty table
chapter7 - Waiter tell signature dish to MC & ML
chapter8 - MC & ML order some food
chapter9 - MC chat with ML
chapter10 - Food arrived
chapter11 - MC eat chicken
chapter12 - MC eat pork
chapter13 - Another chat
chapter14 - MC eat cfish

Type 2 less boring than Type 1 but can be very annoy sometime if author keep each chapter to short.

Why keep each chapter very short?
Ofcourse to increase click/view counts of their novel. Since those chinese webnovel website only paid them by number of click/view counts, not by number of word counts

Readers should consider themself lucky if type 2 have word counts more than single A4 page.
...unless that website use bigger font than necessarily then it may be longer than 1 and half A4 pages LMAO

When Type1 and Type2 (Recycle + shortest chapter ever) then its time for normal brian reader to drop this kind of novel...
