So... I've just started reading it... I didn't go too far, ch.30-40. However, one of my most hated Chinese tropes seems to plague this novel, namely: underestimation. Now, I don't have any problem with people getting the idea that the main character is not strong, but if it's overly done it gets very jarring because of how unrealistic it is, especially when side characters don't really put their brain to use and start assuming shit. My question is: does the mc keeps getting underestimated even when he becomes overpowered later on? Also is it harem?
ahh one of the many deadly sins of chinese novels underestimation of mc's its go side to side with; face slaping its good that its moder era in medival era they would be burned on the stake
It also goes side to side with hundreds of fillers... so, do you know anything regarding my aforementioned question?
I haven't caught up with the translation yet (I'm at around 270 IIRC). So far, no harem (only one lover). MC doesn't keep getting underestimated and he becomes extremely arrogant type of MC.
actually, i think they stop underestimating him very soon. I can't really remember, It's been awhile.
Just sad that they only update in the end of the month, to read more need Patreon I think it was pretty expensive
It goes both ways. Main characters also underestimate side characters. It’s just that, MC is usually right.
Pirates are afraid of him except the yonko. The marines love and hate him due to his power but they dont rate him lowly and are very careful about how they deal with him. There aren't any young masters getting smacked, just the arrogant supernovas, but they act like that in cannon anyway. Its a decent read even for the later chapters, just lacks the development of side-characters as he gets stronger.
