-FL saves the movie star from a falling light fixture with a kick
-she caught the attention of the martial arts choreo who wanted a replacement for an injured actress. This choreo Mi Qiansong was "saved" in this timeline because of the burglar who harmed him in the previous life had already been arrested.
-the director and choreo were brought to the ML and was told that the FL was his GF. they were truly impressed by her demonstration of martial art background and line reading and decided to sign her to a contract. she insisted on adding a clause not to reveal her relationship.
-Lu Qi and the step-mother later turned up at FL's home with a modest fruit basket to ask FL to drop the role and pass it to Lu Qi. FL told them it's impossible due to a penalty clause, and besides it requires physical acting which Lu Qi is loathed. they left after verifying with an insider that the payment terms were quite low. but they still thought to sabotage the FL: if she could not go for filming she would be burdened with paying off the penalty.
-on the day of the flight to the film location, XQY (step-mother) and LQY (father) had some men blockade the door, blatantly revealing their plot to activate the penalty clause. unfortunately for them the police were immediately on the scene due to ML's guards and the duo were arrested and detained for 15 days. This was then leaked to the paparazzi. But FL was delayed long enough to miss the flight but ML used a private jet to send her.
-Meanwhile, Lu Qi and her assistant arrived at the set, saying that she was there to replace FL. The director was doubtful as Lu Qi kept black-mouthing the FL... only for her to arrive just in time and got rid of her. FL told her to check on her parents as they are hot news now. As they left, Lu Qi's assistant finally had enough of her abuse and quit, leaving Lu Qi stranded with her luggage.
-the first day of filming had no parts for FL, she was there to observe as a newbie. a senior actress with a bit part was irritated by the favourtism as FL even got a preferential hotel room. Meanwhile the ML had arranged for someone to prepare home-cooked meals for the FL in the hotel.
-on the day of filming the crew had to climb a mountain to a temple. On the way FL encountered a crabby old woman with a sprained ankle and her middle-aged daughter-in-law. the old woman insisted for FL to help her up to the temple. FL's companion was annoyed but FL eventually agreed to give her a piggy back. FL saw through the lies of the old woman and deduced that she was ML's grandmother. FL kept dropping hints that she suspected who she was and that unsettled the grandmother into creating more holes in her story (eg that the grandma was "same age as bf's grandma" etc etc. eventually the grandmother got off to have her temple appointment.
-the filming proper: the senior actress harangued the FL, warning her not to make mistakes. the irony is that the FL was flawless while she herself kept making NGs, causing the director and the male actor to lose patience. eventually filming pulled through for the day.
-they returned to the hotel to rest, only for the FL to encounter the grandma again. "coincidentally" they were neighbors and she would visit the FL later. As the meal was prepared in FL's room, the grandma really appeared. She was first annoyed that the door was locked and then scolded FL for opening it anyway for a stranger. She warned FL not to develop scandals with handsome actors in the industry. FL said that her boyfriend was "the best" and this mollified the grandma somewhat.
-after dinner, ML called his mother and grandma: he knows they are there harassing his girl. he told them that he was coming over, they thought he would be busy with work but he said he already missed the FL. grandma and mother were frightened into packing to leave immediately and took a flight back... only to be greeted by the ML right after they had disembarked. he was never going to the filming area as he was busy, he had lied to them. grandma was annoyed that he would do this to protect the FL.
-filming progressed smoothly. one day the senior actress had a coffee truck sent so that the crew could have free coffee. FL declined as she was holding a thermos of prepared broth and that she doesn't drink coffee. senior actress was making a deal out of it but FL told her bluntly that she had been hostile all this time, she didn't dare to drink her coffee. if their positions were reversed, would the actress dared to drink something she had offered?
-FL approached the martial arts choreo Mi Qiansong who also did not drank the coffee. The actress continued to make a big ruckus but Mi Qiansong stood up for the FL. Eventually the director came over and FL said the coffee truck is just a publicity stunt for the actress to be a trending topic. The actress was stunned to have her plan revealed and thought her assistant leaked it, but the director told them that the FL was a marketing/publicity genius who even won the Golden Finger award; of course she would see through such a thing.
-at this point Xiao Chen arrived: President Han was treating the whole crew to the local hotpot specialty in absentia. The actress thought it was the director's treat, but FL bluntly said "it's my BF's treat for the whole crew". they thanked her, causing the actress to be face-slapped. Her coffee truck had been completely overshadowed. She thought Xiao Chen who came over was the BF. After dinner when Xiao Chen was sending FL back to the hotel, the actress's assistant covertly took a photograph for future use.
-FL was surprised to see ML in her room. kissy kissy, slept together without doing anything. next morning they talked about her future, whether she want to make an acting career or continue her studies. as they ate breakfast they considered the schools of choice: FL wanted to avoid the academy where her ex and Lu Qi were in. FL then revealed how she suspected grandma: there was no information on her but there were photos of her mother, it was easy to draw the connection.
-that day after filming while ML was still asleep resting, FL decided to prepare dinner personally. she surprised everyone with her skill of cooking since city girls do not like to get their hands messy. After it was done she dragged ML out to eat her food. This was spied on by the senior actress who noted it was a different person from Xiao Chen, another photo was taken.
-meanwhile FL's mother was plotting her own revenge. she contacted the paparazzi friend and gave a recorded statement so that her ex-husband and sister would be hot news. Lu Qi's career was on the verge of dying but FL's mother wanted to completely bury them all. The moment LQY and XQY were released they were rushed by the paparazzi, and the recorded statement was played loudly in a loop. it immediately attracted a lot of attention. LQY was furious and tried to stop FL's mother after breaking out of the encirclement; only to be stunned by her revitalized health and looks.
-he demanded for her to stop, she challenged him to sue her. she was not afraid as it was all true. a passing citizen believed her and sympathized with her. FL's mother thanked the auntie and then left with the paparazzi friend, giving him permission to edit everything as he wish for maximum impact. ML informed FL that this was trending everywhere. She was worried but he had trusted men protecting FL's mother.
-filming has wrapped up and another hotpot dinner was arranged, this time by FL herself. the senior actress wanted to join in but was bluntly refused, she knew her apology was insincere. the senior actress could only make fake news about how the director and the FL were having an affair and by having her assistant posting a misleading photo of them going to the same hotel.
-the paparazzi friend called FL to tell her that the fake news about her was trending. ML had people to investigate the source and discovered it was the senior actress's assistant. the news was suppressed, and the director was informed. FL told him that bad news would still be publicity for the film. Instead she would release bad news about the senior actress when the film was near release to drum up interest. The director approved and offered to cut the senior actress entirely out of the film. FL returned home to her mother. once more her future was brought up.
-the next day ML offered to enroll FL into school in advance, after the release of the film. more kissy kissy huggy huggy
-FL went back to office work and surrounded by colleagues who asked about the acting experience. they asked if she would continue acting, she said it was interesting.
-there was a call to receive takeaway lunch, FL and Sister Li went down to pick it up. in the lobby there were a ton of screaming young women who had skipped class just to catch a glimpse of an arriving idol, Zhou.
-Sister Li commented that she knew of this idol who had a drug scandal abroad. one of the women overheard this and immediately defended the idol vehemently. Sister Li said that she should be in school, only to be scolded to mind her own business. FL in turn asked if she had learned her bad manners from her idol?
-the confrontation was interrupted by the arrival of Zhou which caused a crush. his bodyguards waded through the crowd, pushing back the hysterical women. one of them forcefully stopped the girl, saying that she was going to touch Zhou. she said she was only waving to get his attention, but she was immediately rounded by the other fans who threatened her for overstepping her bounds. the bodyguard smiled as his mistake had been diverted to the girl. Sister Li was indignant, the bodyguard heard her and raised a hand. FL stepped up to save the girl and saw her bruised arm from the bodyguard's rough handling. She pointed at the distant Zhou and asked why the girl would support someone who did not care about the well-being of his fans?
-Zhou's agent Wang Lu heard this and scolded FL, who in turn scolded him. Zhou as a role model should have advised these young women to focus on their studies. Sister Li was angry as well, but Wang Law merely turned to the fans and asked if they feel wronged. of course they don't. Zhou carelessly said that truancy is bad, next time they should first get a teacher's permission.
-the girl now was disillusioned, and FL took her to the infirmary to be treated. even the doctor asked if her pain was worth it, and the girl finally realized she had been a blind fangirl. Sister Li chipped in that FL was also an actress reminded her to support her film. the girl thanked them and introduced herself: her name was Xu Ning.
-since they were late with the takeaway, Xia Mengyu made a snide remark. Sister Li told the office what had happened. then they were called into a meeting, and they saw Wang Lu in the conference room.
-Wang Lu recognized FL and Sister Li as the meddlers. Deputy Wu did not know about the earlier encounter and introduced Wang as the agent of Zhou Yu Xing, a with a successful online drama. After he had become popular, there is a video of him gambling and drinking and making fun of his fans. most of the office said the PR job was impossible, but Xia Mengyu spoke up to make trouble for the FL. She said the FL had won the Golden Finger and this intrigued the agent. FL refused to whitewash for Zhou. Xia continued to say that she had a full month break, she should take the job.
-Wang Lu asked for FL's name and told her not to waste time, quickly make a few plans before he leaves for another PR firm. FL state her refusal once more. Wang was furious, but FL said even if there are repercussions for FL it was Han Corporation's internal matter, not his problem. Deputy Wu agreed and Wang left in a huff. Sister Li then explained what had happened. Deputy Wu understood but warned that next time they could not allow their personal dislike to interfere with their jobs again.
-Suddenly Wang returned because he was waiting for them to change their minds. He was confident, and soon Vice-President Yu arrived to greet him very familiarly. Wang then pointed out those who had offended him and the director immediately wanted them to apologize. He brushed aside Deputy Wu and Wang then brought up FL's success with Du Lin's case. He wants her ideas but planned to shoot them all done just to spite her.
-VP Yu asked for a deadline, Wang replied tomorrow. the VP was hesistant but agreed and ordered FL to work on it. She refused, and Wang belittled her inability to work quickly. She refused again, it was never about the time, she never wanted to take the case.
-VP Yu was angry and Xia took the chance to pour more oil into the fire. Deputy Wu scolded her, how dare she speak out of turn. VP Yu who heard Xia's words agreed with her. Once more he asked if she would take the case, once more she refused. He told her to leave the company.
-VP Yu threatened those who would dare to speak up to leave with her. And if you guys don't take the case, leave anyway. Of course, the ML chose this timing to appear. He was with his assistant Zheng Tianming and General Manager He Zong. He Zong realized the relationship between ML and FL, he shared a look with Zheng who silently confirmed his thought. He Zong felt lucky that he never crossed paths with FL yet, and thought the VP whom he disliked had jumped into death all by himself.

321 - 350

321 -VP Yu was surprised, but quickly summarized the issue to the ML and pointed out the source of the problem being the FL. ML asked Deputy Wu asked about their criteria in choosing cases, he said they have a lot of possible clients and some of the more problematic ones are not worth the trouble. ML made sure that Deputy Wu confirmed that they are able to pick their cases at leisure. The VP tried to interrupt, but the rest of the office spoke on how he had barged in trying to force them to help the scandal-ridden Zhou.

322 - ML very simply said: "The person you're trying to get rid of is my GF". It was a bombshell that shocked everyone not in the know, especially the VP and Xia. Internal monologue from Xia about how the Fl was too lucky and her recent acting role must have been because of ML's influence. jealousy etc etc

323 - ML asked the VP if he wanted his GF to leave, VP stuttered that he wouldn't have dared if he had known. ML grilled him mercilessly, and he told agent Wang that the PR department would not accept the case. Even if they did, he would immediately veto it. He also said that Zhou could hide and not take any jobs until the scandal dies down, if he doesn't like it he can pay the release clause of his contract. Wang knew that if he waits it down, Zhou's star power would disappear; and yet if he breaks the contract now he would still have the scandal around him and therefore unable to get another company to hire Zhou. He then asked of the VP still wanted to throw his weight around, he too quickly slinked away.

324 - The matter settled, ML gently said goodbye to the FL and left. Outside, the VP was waiting to make his apologies but was stopped by assistant Zheng who said the VP still did not understand his fault. It was not about the FL but the way he tried to influence the PR department just to curry favor with a star. In the elevator, the ML lightly scolded GM He Zong: how could he have let this useless VP survive for this long? He have the GM permission to get rid of the VP. Meanwhile FL's colleagues wanted to know the full story, she apologized for not revealing her relationship in case they thought she had slept her way up. Sister Li said her being the ML's GF would spread quickly in the company.

325 - FL said no, she had made the ML promise not to reveal it so that she could work comfortably on her own merits. She hopes no one here would leak the info, the colleagues stared pointedly at Xia. Other than agent Wang and the VP, the only one on bad terms with FL was her and if there was a leak, she would be blamed first. She quickly promised not to do so. At noon, FL went to ML's office to have lunch as usual, only to be greeted by the VP outside. He begged her to put in a good word with the ML. He then realized too late that he had offended her once more by doing this in full view of other workers; forgetting that she wanted to be low-key.

326 - Assistent Zheng then took both of them to a meeting room. The VP apologized once more but FL told him that he still did not know his mistake, that he was throwing his weight around because he was a VP. She said it's useless to ask her for forgiveness as she is indeed vengeful, and besides she is just a small staff worker of the PR department. It is not up to her to make big decisions; besides the ML would not have placed his personal dislike of him over his talents if he had any. The VP could only regret. Two days of normalcy later the FL received a call from the movie director who said the film would be released earlier as its tone was not suitable for the festive Chinese New Year period. He told her to join the publicity tour. Netizens began to question why the FL being just a PR staff who won the Golden Finger award would be billed ahead of the actress Bai.

327 - The criticisms even spread to the director for choosing an unknown for shady reasons. He was furious at the idiocy of the actress Bai: isn't she afraid that hiring such influencers would cause the film to fail as well? The director then called his peers and told them to freeze the actress Bai out of their projects. He told them that the FL was the ML's GF but she was hired based on her real abilities. The director did not feel guility about doing this to the actress Bai: she had offended the ML and would never work again anyway. The ML's grandmother read the online comments and was furious that the FL was being slandered. How could they say the FL did not do well, she surely did. ML's mother laughed, have you seen the film? Grandma insisted that she knows the FL would do a good job.

328 - It was obvious that grandma was now protective and even supportive of the FL despite her crabby nature. She wanted to hire her own influencers, but ML's mother stopped her. Why, do you not care for your daughter-in-law? ML's mother smirked, oh, now you admit that she will be my daughter-in-law? Jokes aside, ML's mother believed FL would know how to handle things. Grandma asked if she was not worried, ML's mother said it would be better to call ML. Grandma tsundered saying nevermind. ML's mother admitted she was worried, prompting Grandma to quickly ask her to call the ML. ML's mother then said "nope, I'm not that worried after all, I can wait". Eventually Grandma caved in and asked her to make the call. They called ML who was surprised by their concern. They asked how FL was dealing with the problem, how is she going to survive in their family if she allowed herself to be stepped on like this.

329 - ML told them that FL was collecting info on the actress Bai, Grandma insisted that he help the FL quickly. He told them he already have, the information was in his hands. But they are going to promote the film and would wait. Grandma was unhappy at the delay, but he told them that the FL was concerned on negative impact on the film and not just on herself. Grandma approves. She told ML's mother to leave a supportive message on FL's official weibo. Meanwhile the idol Zhou was stewing together with his agent Wang. They saw the promotional ad for the film and recognized FL's name and verified that it was her. Zhou was angry and Wang warned him not to leak about the relationship between ML and FL. Zhou said he was not that stupid to give FL free publicity.

330 - Wang said Zhou could find money to pay for the release clause or just wait it out. But if he offended the Han Corporation, they had the influence to kick him out of the industry. Zhou scoffed at the idea of the FL being the ML's gf: didn't the VP say that everyone was shocked? Then it must mean their relationship was not public, it must be because the ML did not take her seriously. Even so, Wang warned that she currently had the ML's favor. Zhou said it would be easy to get people to spread rumors, he is not responsible for the behaviour of his fans. He then went into his fan chatroom and allowed them to gossip about FL and the film. They began to mobilize a boycott to 'protect' their idol.

331- Because of their online protests, FL's name began to grain traction. The PR department was angry but FL was calm. Xia gloats inwardly but FL reminds them that she was not a passive person. She went to call her friend Xunzi. Xunzi had resigned from being a paparazzi and had been hired as a an actual entertainment journalist. He too was about to call her, saying he knows about the actress Bai but now wondering about the deal with idol Zhou.

332 - He has prepared material on the actress and just awaiting for FL's go-ahead when this idol Zhou appeared. He wondered about her ability to attract the hatred of people so easily, she told him the story. Xunzi say he can wait on the actress, but idol Zhou should be dealt with quickly. FL asked about the drug scandal, he said although there are photos they were blurry and easily denied even if they had the time and place correct. FL told him to prepare as Zhou would slip up sooner or later and got the details of the netizen who first broke the drug scandal. She then called Xunzi's paparazzi friends who were more than eager to help her.

333 - They warned that it might take some time to dig up some dirt, but FL already had some info. In the past life idol Zhou's gambling news was suppressed and he went on to be a rising star. Later he was reported for taking drugs and after coming out of rehab he lost his star power. FL had seen the news while she was in prison. Since the drug scandal haven't broken out yet she told the paparazzi to stake out his friends as they are known to have drug parties. That night after ML had sent her whole, FL received a call from Sister Li Jie to check weibo.

334 - Xu Ning had posted about being in Zhou's fan club and how she had skipped classes just to chase after him. She wrote about the entire encounter with FL, Sister Li, Zhou's rough bodyguards who turned the other fans on herself and Zhou's ridiculous advice about skipping classes. FL was worried about Xu Ning being cyber-bullied, sure enough there were negative comments about Xu Ning. She messaged her privately to thank her but FL said she should be careful as she was still a student.

335 - Xu Ning said she was not afraid and FL said she know and ended the conversation. Xu Ning was a little doubtful by the abruptness, thinking that the FL had abandoned her. But FL instead went back to the office with ML to get security footage of that day's incident and made several copies. Sister Li also compiled a video of her own. The security guards wondered what the big deal was, they were reminded that FL was in an upcoming movie, of course the boss would be worried.

336 - entire chapter is about FL and ML making out in the dead angle of the office elevator away from the cameras after calling for takeaway food

337 - ML received a call from FL's mother about dinner, he apologized for skipping because they are trying to help Xu Ning. FL then got in contact with friendly media outlets to release the videos while Xu Ning were fighting off the keyboard warriors. The videos corroborates her story, she never attempted to touch idol Zhou and that his bodyguard was handling her roughly. Soon Xu Ning saw the news all over the major outlets and quickly messaged thanks to FL. Xu Ning decided to be her fan and believe that she would rise to the top.

338 - They chat a bit more as the news story unfolded. More people began to post supporting photos in favour of Xu Ning about that day, as well as recordings of the bodyguard inciting the fans to mob Xu Ning. Idol Zhou's non-action and careless 'advice' was also shown. Many began apologizing to Xu Ning, there are few diehard Zhou fans who claim the videos were doctored but were ridiculed. This spilled over into rising interest in the FL and her upcoming film.

339 - Even though her face wasn't clear in the videos, netizens soon found out mocked idol Zhou's fans for picking a fight with a public relations professional. They praised FL's handling of Du Lin previously and that she was a powerful, capable woman. She had gained 100,000 weibo followers even before the movie had been out. Elsewhere, agent Wang berated Zhou for his stupidity. He had told him to lie low and yet provoked the ML. Wang walked out from the partnership saying that Zhou's career was finished anyway. Alone, Zhou called up his sugarmama saying that he would accept her invitation to the Maldives, only to be told that it has been canceled.

340 - Zhou opened his fridge and from a secret compartment retrieved some drugs (ice) and mixed into his drink. Later agent Wang unexpectedly returned to get his things and had his assistant open the door. They saw the obvious signs of drugs in the knocked out idol. Wang had thought Zhou only used marijuana previously, he did not know about the ice. He decisively decided to call the police and left with the assistant, telling him that they should wash their hands off idol Zhou for good. It is better to cut him off than to be implicated later.

341 - The assistant agreed and they went into the car to wait to make sure that the police were coming. How were they to know that their entire conversation was overheard by FL's paparazzi friends? They prepared blow up the matter. The police arrived to knock on Zhou's door, causing curious neighbors to appear. They were questioned and got a very detailed answer about who came and left Zhou's house. Zhou was too delirious to protest when the police broke in and took the drugs as evidence. The moment Zhou was taken out in handcuffs, the paparazi appeared to snap photos.

342 - They managed to get clear photos of Zhou's high face before he was taken away. They contacted FL who was surprised at the speedy results. She told him to break the news but not the details, let the netizens guess who the arrested person was before publishing the full information the next day. The paparazzi was delighted with the haul and offered a long-term partnership with the FL, he wants to be the number 1 paparazzi. Whatever matter Xunzi could not handle, let him do it. She honestly told him not to expect too much, but she would indeed work with him if there are other potential news. She really did need some friends in low places after all, and in exchange she wants any heads up in case of any slander or rumors of her. She trusts him because he was introduced by Xunzi. As instructed, the paparazzi then posted the breaking news in his very large weibo account. Very quickly Zhou became the prime suspect.

343 - Zhou's fans defended him, while other stars who had similar identities insinuated quickly post their alibis to keep themselves in the clear. Only Zhou, his agent and assistant remained quiet. The fans could only attack the paparazzi's weibo, but he said clear evidence will be posted soon. The fans then thought FL was behind all this, which in turn get remarks how they are basically admitting it was really Zhou who got arrested. FL did not pay attention to the internet wars. The next morning, official news posted photos of the drugs and Zhou's face. His fans melted away, having no defence against the obvious evidence.

344 - One person quit the fan club and many followed. The few remaining hardcore fans think that all these videos must be the work of FL. They caused her name to trend online, accusing her of trapping Zhou. FL admitted to it very bluntly: she was provoked and she fought back. You guys are provoking me, I will take it out on Zhou afterwards. She won't hide or change. You guys think about it yourselves. Her powerful response got her many positive responses who mocked the Zhou fans.

345 - Her weibo followers rose from 100k to 700k, which astonished even herself. Zhou's hardcore fans were frightened to stay out of her way, not even daring to comment about her film. As ML was away on business, FL decided to go shopping for clothes for the movie's premiere. She browsed at an affordable but still respectable store only for someone to call out to her. It was ML's mother Shen and grandma. Such coincidence, much wow; but Shen knew that grandma had called ML to find out where FL was.

346 - Shen long suspected that FL knew who they were and thinks FL was playing along with the grandma. Grandma was in a generous mood, she was also afraid that FL would be snubbed by the stores and so decided to help her pick out some clothes. It's your lucky day, grandma told FL. FL then pointed out the clothing she had eyed at earlier, grandma asked if her great BF did not give her spending money to buy more expensive clothes. Grandma was surprised that ML did not splurge on her, she actually did not care as it's common for couples in love to induldge. Grandma found FL to be very sensible and self-reliant. FL explained that she prefers to solve what she can herself, buy what she could afford. She would seek his help if needed, but for this one piece of clothing she can handle it herself.

347 - If she constantly relies on him, wouldn't she tired him out, wouldn't be no different than a leech? She loves him and so will want to lessen his burden together. Grandma was very happy and moved by her sincerity in caring for the ML. Grandma really admired the way FL had threatened Zhou's fans earlier. From the start to the finish of the Zhou case, FL did not rely on ML and solved the problem herself. Grandma happily listened to FL's clothing choice. Her style and modest choice gained the approval of Shen and Grandma. They paid for the clothes and FL happily offered to bring them for lunch. Here Grandma was unhappy, for FL had called Shen by an intimate term and yet still called her by a more distant term.

348 - FL did this because she was afraid of being rebuffed by Grandma, but now that the subject was broached she immediately changed her phrase and called her more intimately. Grandma was happy again but now insisted that they go to FL's house for a homecooked meal. FL thought they should meet her mother and called ahead without telling her who the guests were. They were invited in and FL explained how she had met them during filming. They exchanged names and it did not occur to FL's mother Xia to even think about ML's family. Soon the atmosphere between Shen, Grandma and FL's mother became friendly; even though Grandma had an ulterior motive for visiting.

349 - Grandma wanted to know Xia's character and could see how mother and daughter were cut from the same cloth. She casually asked if Xia still played the violin. Xia was surprised but explained how she wanted to be like her father who was part of an orchestra but ultimately she let him down. Even FL did not know of this. Grandma asked her to play a piece, Xia still had the violin handed down by her father. FL helped her retrieved the box, she could see how it was carefully placed and cleaned despite never playing it.

350 - FL then remembered about the kitchen, causing Xia to remember that how FL had been meticulous and cleaned up after herself leaving her with little to do for her own daughter their entire lives. Xia did not take out the violin as it was time for lunch. Grandma praised FL's skill but Xia remembered how bitter it was for the FL when her father divorced her. She had survived on school canteen food, and then secretly cooked in the dorms during the holidays. When she was forced to drop out and work for Lu Qi, FL did not even have a time to eat. By the time she returned home the rest of the family had eaten and had leisure time. Even their servant could be confident of three meals a day and would not need to stay up late. Yet somehow the stepmother could still twist things around to say that it's FL's fault for staying out late every night and miss dinner.

351 - Xia remembered how FL would go cold and hungry because of overwork, and that is why she would do her best to not burden the FL ever since she left the family. After the lunch, Xia took out the violin and played. There were some mistakes but it was very pleasing and heartful. Grandma and Shen praised her.

352 - Grandma said she was good enough to open classes to teach as a hobby. FL thought it would be a nice way to keep Xia occupied. After a while Grandma and Shen left amicably, and FL finally told her mother who they were. Xia was nervous but agreed with FL that they have made a good impression. Naturally FL messaged ML about the meeting, however he was busy and only replied two days before her movie premiere. She knows that he couldn't be there but will have a video of the reception for him. Just as ML wanted to type a reply, a soft female interrupted him.

353 - ML was actually meeting composer Wang Juhuai who had earned critical success in the west. He has a niece, Wang Qianyun who was also present. ML's father Han Xijin were childhood friends with Wang Juhuai, and later ML often tagged along with his father's business trips to meet him. However, Juhuai had a scheming younger brother and relatives. Once they found out about Han Xijin, they would always appear whenever he visits Juhuai. Even now, Wang Qianyun was pestering with the ML, eager to use both him and Juhuai for their own hollywood ambitions. She boasted that she was influential in the production department of Mex and could help him, even though she was only an assistant. ML bluntly told Juhuai that he hopes to see him privately next time without these hangerons.

354 - After he had left, Juhuai scolded his niece, he really did not want her to be mucking with his personal friendship. He never told them that ML was visiting and yet they still came. Wang Juhuai then ordered his butler to find out and fire whoever that had leaked the info and warned his niece not to repeat this. She felt wronged and asked for help, only to be refused. He had already done enough for her and her parents. He told her to give up, the ML would never like her. She insisted as long as he was single, she had a chance. But uncle Juhuai was brutal in his honesty and reminded her that her current job at Mex was because of him as a courtesy, she does not have the actual ability.

355 - He drove Wang Qianyun out, but she did not learn her lesson. She actually went to ML's hotel to find him, only to be told by the lobby that he had already checked out. She swore that she will find him the next time he returns. It is the day of the movie premiere. For convenience the actors of the film were staying at 5-star hotel nearby. FL did not stay there, she only went on the day to change her clothes. She had planned to do her makeup alone but ML had Assistent Zheng bring the prestigious Shi Xiaoya to do it.

356 - This was seen by senior artist's assistant Xiaoli who in turn informed her. she did not believe FL had such pull to get Shi Xiaoya.

357 - The actress Bai then told Xiaoli to find a way into FL's makeup room and ruin her dress. She quashed her worries and pushed a utility knife into her hands, the assistant was shocked as it was not something from the hotel; meaning the actress had prepared it in advance. Xiaoli was most reluctant, she knew how FL had dealt with idol Zhou.

358 - The actress threatened to fire her, leaving her with no choice. Xiaoli made her way to the makeup room and really saw Shi Xiaoya. Xiaoli lied to FL saying that the actress sent her over in case she was nervous as it was her first premiere. FL did not believe this at all but accepted it at face value. Xiaoli then excused herself and quickly found a chance to cut the dress on the way out unseen.

359 - After the makeup was done the ruined skirt was found, there was a large cut in it. Xiaoli was immediately the first suspect. It was too late to get a replacement, even Shi Xiaoya was at a loss. FL said she was a fashion student once and decisively cut the skirt and modified it with ribbons.

360 - the skirt had been modified into something completely new and everyone praised the FL. They had one thought in mind: they wanted to see the look on the actress's face. Just then the doorbell rang and actress loudly called for her. FL confidently opened the door and swept out of the room for the premiere, leaving her livid. The actress turned on Xiaoli, thinking that the assistant had lied to her. Xiaoli protested, saying it could be a replacement. She could not recognize the skirt after being modified so much by FL.

361 - Much to the actress's annoyance, FL's new skirt garnered much attention. FL then went to the lobby to meet with Director Sun and the rest of the crew. The actress Bai then arrived with Xiaoli. FL had no sympathy for the assistant even though there were palm prints on her face. They then went on the red carpet, with the actress Bai trying to hog the cameras much to the photographers' annoyance. Eventually one of them called out for the lead actors to pose for them. Even FL was called, yet no one asked for the actress.

362 - Despite being ushered by the guards, the actress remained on the red carpet as long as possible. Eventually the film crew entered the cinema. FL had given her mother Xia a ticket but they were not sitting together as FL was with the rest of the cast to greet the audience. Xia could not help but excitedly tell the person beside her about FL, turns out she was sitting with Shi Xiaoya, and they exchanged greetings.

363 - After the director and lead actors, it was FL's turn to greet the audience. Her popularity was not smaller than theirs. Elsewhere in the audience were ML's Grandma, mother Shen, father Han and Grandfather Han who regretted their terrible seating and wished he had brought binoculars. Grandma was snarky at Grandpa Han who said he had no interest in the FL but decided to join after everyone else was going. On the stage, the host interviewed the film crew. When it was lead actress Yu's turn she was asked whom she admired: the FL or actress Bai. Yu laughed and joked that this is a trick question, she will not be tricked into provoking the FL. She completely ignored the actress Bai.

364 - Then it was FL's turn. As she answered her general questions, she saw ML discreetly entering the theatre. He did not go to a preferential spot but instead sat with his family, and she saw Grandma and Shen too and guessed the older gentlemen to be his father and grandfather. Looking at his direction, she thanked the director and the lead actor who gave her this opportunity... as well as her boyfriend who had supported her all this time. The host was shocked by this admission, most starlets would want to keep their relationships secret before establishing their career.

365 - But with this one public statement FL would put an end to any possible misunderstanding. Grandma very much approves and boasted to her husband. Grandpa Han was grumpy, saying how FL was being calculative by doing this (edited: he was actually imitating Grandma who had resisted the FL at the start). On stage, the host then veered to another question about some internet gossip; much to the consternation of the Han family and Director Sun, thinking that there was a plot. The host immediately opened the field to questions and the FL was immediately asked by the journalists about how she had fought an internet war and if she would continue to do so. FL calmly said she would not do anything unless provoked, and when that happens, she will pay it back ten times more. She said this while looking at the host. She had already seen the ML leaving his seat to take a phone call.

366 - The host was worried, she had been told by actress Bai's backers to make it difficult for FL but now found herself threatened. Grandma approves of her hard stance, and then notices that her skirt was different than the one they had bought for her. Shen used her mobile phone to zoom in and noticed it was the same one but modified heavily. ML returned, Shi Xiaoya had told him what had happened and he informed his family. Grandma almost cursed, but Shen calmed her down saying the skirt looked better. ML proudly told them that she was a fashion student until her father forced her out of school. On stage, the stage production crew warned the host on the headset to get back on track. But before she could interview actress Bai, she was told that it was time for the movie even though he had left plenty of time for her.

367 - Even the screen had been shut off for the movie, leaving the host with no choice but to leave. Actress Bai was going to stand up for her interview time, but she could only sit back down and wear the 3D glasses. She glared at FL, but FL was wondering if it was coincidence or that ML had launched his own counter-attack. The movie finally began. Other than the director, no one had seen the final version, not even the main actor. Actress Bai waited in vain for her appearances... up until the end there was none of her scenes and she was not even listed in the credits. When the lights came back up, the film crew were also puzzled. A new host appeared to replace the previous one to wrap things up. Actress Bai immediately sought the director to complain, only to be told to leave it for later in private. They began to leave but FL instead went to find her mother Xia who praised her acting. FL said once she undergoes formal training later, she will be even better. Better than Lu Qi.

368 - FL and Xia dispersed with the audience, only to have the ML waiting outside. He wanted to hold her in a big hug until he realized that Xia was also there. He greeted her "mother" and told her that his family was present, but left in case of worrying her. He was told to bring FL and Xia to meet them in the new year, a tacit mark of approval from Grandpa Han who enjoyed FL's powerful stance on stage. On the way home they discussed ML's business: he had no intentions of working with the Mex company which is discriminatory. He did not mention the other reason: Wang Qianyun. Truthfully, the main reason he would not cooperate with Mex was because Wang Qianyun was there. Elsewhere, actress Bai demanded to know why she was cut out of the film. Director Sun said he eeded to cut some scenes. Unfortunately they were your scenes. The film crew and the main actors were stunned, why was the director so pissed off?

369 - Actress Bai threatened to go behind his back, but Sun insisted he had followed the letter of his contract if not the spirit. She was indeed part of the film, she even appeared in the premiere. But in the end he had the final say in editing. He did not care for her backer, Cao. Actress Bai then called Cao to voice her grievance, she handed the phone over and Sun very bluntly told him that he forced him to put this crappy actress into the movie, she even plotted a scandal of him and the FL. He didn't care about Bai's feud with FL, but she had dragged him in. She did not help this movie and even tried to harm it, if it wasn't for him suppressing the scandal there wouldn't even be a premiere today. Actress Bai's face twitched as she finally knew the reason why her plot didn't take off, that Xiaoli's posts kept getting deleted and buried.

370 - Director Sun continued: Not only that, she even hired influencers to throw shade at the FL and so indirectly harm the movie's blockoffice potential. I have yet to talk to you about this stupid actress, you dare to actually question me first? Cao truly did not know what actress Bai had been doing and knew Sun was really offended. He softened his tone and Sun did not pursue the matter. "Anything else? Let's go" Sun said and the crew now knew everything. They dispersed without caring for actress Bai. FL did not know what had happened, because she was with the ML. They had not been together for a week and ML's longing was obvious. Mother Xia told them to have fun and returned home alone. ML loved his mother-in-law's open-mindedness, she truly does understand her son-in-law.

373 - ML really missed FL, especially with the annoyance that was Wang Qianyun. He wanted FL to be around him constantly to drive away such annoying women and asked if she would follow on his next business trip. She agreed and they fell asleep for a few hours. FL saw it was 3am and suggested for ML to stay over, ML thought it would be strange if he was to share a room with her while FL's mother was in the house. FL told him that he was going to get her room while she herself would be with her mother.

374 - ML was reluctant but eventually fell asleep in her room alone in his clothes. As FL slipped into bed with her mother, she woke her up. Xia asked about ML and FL told her, inadverdantly revealing that the two of them had been in his car for the past few hours. "You should have gone straight to bed earlier" she said. The next morning ML had not yet waken, and Xia remarked that people who are envious of him do not know his responsibilities.

375 - FL agreed. After breakfast she went out to buy some clothes for ML, including male pajamas just in case. She received a message telling her that her modified skirt was trending, people are curious about where to buy it. She uploaded a before and after post and said the skirt had been modified herself after something had happened. It garnered praise but a few saw how the skirt was sabotaged first. The keyboard warriors immediately deduced that it happened on the day of the premiere and narrowed down the suspect to be actress Bai.

377 – Actress Bai had not even spoken a word but her plans to blacken the film had been completely spoiled by those Zhou fans. Who even provoked them? The fight between their fans continued. 378 – She doubted and opened the door, only for him to pull her into the room while topless. They made out heavily, only to be interrupted by FL’s mother who had just returned from the market. They tidied up and FL snarled for ML to get dressed. “Oh, the sizes are just right”. FL wanted to pick a fight over the trick, but ML cheekily apologized. She swore to buy the biggest size next time.

379 – Mother Xia asked if FL had returned, ML answered yes. FL greeted her mother as she came out of the bedroom, causing Xia to quip if she had disturbed them. ML said “depends on what you mean”, causing the two women to be speechless. As ML was eating FL’s home-cooked food, FL received a call from Xu Fenglai about actress Bai’s counter attack. He was worried that it would badly affect the movie’s box office performance but FL calmly waited until they had finished eating before reading Bai’s self-pity posting: she did not understand that after she had tried her best, she was still removed from the film.

380 – Bai wrote about the bruises and scrapes she had suffered in the cold winter but thought it was worth it to work with Director Sun. But she did not expect to be completely cut out. She wondered if it was because of another actress, she admitted she had conflicts with her. Why did this rookie get so many opportunities while others who worked for tens of years did not get chances? She will not apologize for being straightforward. She will not be cowed into submission, she will fight back! Her fans immediately leapt forward and organized a movie boycott. FL was not worried at all, but Director Sun and associate Xu Fenglai called her after a night of inaction. FL told them to wait it out, saying that even Bai’s fans would need to actually go and see the film first to verify. The fans of the other cast and crew wouldn’t even care about Bai.

As she left, Xia asked if FL wants to contact ML as she thinks the meeting would have unsavory people.

382 – FL said she could solve this herself. When she reached Director Sun’s studio, she was briefed by Xu Fenglai: Cao was actually the smallest investor but he managed to pull in the big wigs, though the biggest was Han Corporation which was obviously with the FL. Director Sun did call FL earlier, but it should be no problem. Inside the meeting room were the CEOs of the other investor companies, Cao and Director Sun. Cao did not like the preferential treatment shown to FL, but was interrupted as Sun introduced the various CEOs. Once it was done, the CEO of Orange Media wasted no time in blaming FL for her bad effect.

383 – FL asked, ‘What bad effect?” The box office because of the bad worth of mouth. FL asked if there’s an actual result, has the box office been revealed already? Xifu Media CEO said cutting out actress Bai was big news on the internet; obviously it would affect the box office. This is based on their experience, they have been investing films longer than you have been alive. Cao added that FL may be a professional in PR, but they know more about movie production and distribution. FL asked what they intend to do then, since this came about because of Bai’s own internet posting that disparaged the film. Shouldn’t they pick on her instead? Cao said Bai’s participation was part of the investment contract, they should be responsible for breaking it. Director Sun said even so, your company is the smallest investor. The biggest investor Han Corporation isn’t even here yet. Cao demanded that FL apologize publicly to Bai, and for her scenes to be added back to the film. FL said Bai is not comparable to director Sun, and she would not apologize because that would admit being guilty. If she really did apologize, then the box office would really be affected.

384 – There are some back and forth before Han Corp’s GM He Zong and PA Zheng Tianming arrived. Immediately the other CEOs became polite. He Zong said he did not know why a meeting was needed for such a minor matter. He was told that about the netizens complaining about Bai’s deletion and criticizing FL and that would affect the box office. He Zong repeated FL’s question: has the box office come out yet? No? Then why are you so sure it would be affected? Oh, your experience? Fart! We are the biggest investor and we’re not worried, why are you so excited? 389 – Cao knew it would be easy for Han Corp to do this and his smaller company would be helpless to prevent it. This was a big deal for Xu Ning as this meant she would have FL’s personal number. Meanwhile, FL’s fans are mobilizing for their own counter-attack.

392 – Xu Ning asked what she had meant by “tomorrow”, FL casually told her that it was her who exposed idol Zhou’s drug habit. Meaning, she also has dirt on Bai. The next morning at work FL received a call from Sun to confirm the 200 million box office. FL congratulates but warned that there might be a drop off thereafter. FL then called the media outlets as well as her paparazzi friend for the counter attack. It was exposed that before Bai was famous, she was a homewrecker and was taught a lesson. That night FL returned home alone to her mother because ML had a meeting. They began to make the traditional noodles to celebrate the New Year. At a hotel, ML and Assistant Zheng was preparing to leave after meeting when Bai suddenly rushed into their car. She had failed to get an official appointment and could only wait for this moment. She begged not to be blacklisted and cited her willingness to do anything.

ML immediately got out of the car and Bai was dragged out by his minders. “Who gave you the courage to disgust me? Now you will be banned till the end of your days,” ML said. She tried to beg but ML threatened to reveal all the worse things she did. He then ordered for his car to be completely disinfected. Bai was too frightened to even ask for the reason why he was so antagonistic towards her.

399 – Assistant Zheng then used his car to drive ML to FL’s place and dropped him there. ML called the stunned FL to open the door. She invited him in and saw that he was disturbed. ML was happy: he had maintained his composure previously but she had seen through him with one look. He swept her into the bedroom, and told her about how Bai had rushed into his car to beg for leniency. He could see her rising anger and he hurriedly explained that Bai did not touch her, how his subordinates had thrown her out and his car taken away to be cleaned and that he came in Assistant Zheng’s car. He asked if she wished for the car to be changed. She instead lightly pecked him as a reward, but the thought of Bai being so close to her man was irritating. But they flirted a little before ML gave her a deep kiss.

400 – kissy-kissy until FL nearly melted until it was too hard. She quickly retrieved the spare pajamas she had prepared and stuffed it into his hands. She looked down to avoid seeing his face, only to discover ML’s 'brother'. She quickly fled to her mother’s room and told her about how his car was being cleaned, not explaining about Bai. FL thought that ML was sweet for coming to tell her about what had happened and to seek comfort from her; he could have just swept it aside to look strong.

ML was satisfied and praised Xiao Chen. At the PR department FL contacted the media outlet. She had actually planned to end things with Bai until ML told her what had happened. She told them to release everything. Elsewhere the marketing teams of the other films who had relaunched their promotions found their efforts being drowned. This was because FL had tagged each article in her weibo with the simple phrase: actress Bai is not in her movie.

402 – The simple tactic made her movie continue to be top news. The person who called FL previously complained, but she told him that she really did intend to stop but Bai actually tried to approach her boyfriend yesterday. Since things got so hot, it would be a waste not to promote her own movie. Helpless, the execs could only copy her: they all forwarded the trending Bai scandals and mention their films at the end. ALL the movies did the same thing and so Bai’s name became the top news. The last day of work before the Spring Festival, Director Sun called to FL to inform her that she was now an actress in a 3 billion box office movie.

403 – The office congratulated her, even those who had already left to travel back to the rural areas for the holidays called or sent her messages. That night as ML sent her home, he said his grandparents asked if she was free to visit on the third day of the holiday. She agreed, and ML said he would visit her tomorrow. FL returned home to a feast prepared by her mother to celebrate the New Year as well as her box office. Now that FL had such a success, she would find it easier to deflect criticism of her age or qualification once she enters film school. They had dinner and FL’s mother Xia Qing was even healthy enough to enjoy some red wine.

404 – The mother and daughter comfortably waited for the New Year. Over at the Lu family, things were not as rosy. Previously Xia Qing had laid a stable foundation for their company. Now that the company had been hit hard, Lu Qiyuan (FL’s father) found things to be difficult. Xia Qingyan (stepmother) only knew how to spend money and did not know anything about the company. Lu found himself thinking back to Xia Qing. Not onlike XQY not being able to help, she kept pestering him about helping Lu Qi’s own career. He had no one to talk to and became reluctant to return home. Even during tonight’s New Year dinner, he could hear XQY complaining about FL’s movie success while Lu Qi had nothing. Lu was fed up and stood to leave as XQY’s harpy comments about him going back to his ex-wife and FL flood his ears.

405 – As it was the New Year, many of the neighbors were outside their homes setting off firecrackers. XQY’s shrill voice was not weak at all compared to the noise. Lu pulled her back into the house to save face, only for her to throw a bigger tantrum. He ordered the servants to drag her in. She once more accused him of cheating on her with the ex-wife, he protested that he only wanted to go out to avoid XQY. He ordered the servants to keep an eye on her as he went out. He could see hear her accusations as he drove away. There was no where for him to go as it was the holidays. Now provoked by XQY, he really drove to Xia Qing’s place. From his car he could see FL and Xia Qing setting off some firecrackers, their faces were melancholy, as if they were thinking about a lot of things. Lu realized that Xia Qing had never asked for much, never envious of others. He had once told her that he had wronged her by letting her follow him. Yet she was happy with the little things that he would do for her. The fireworks were done and FL and Xia Qing went back in. Lu’s eyes had been on her the whole time. He had lost her. Then he was interrupted by a phone call: “Sir, madam is committing suicide!” Ten minutes ago, while he was watching Xia Qing, Xia Qingyan had put on her coat.

406 – Lu Qi asked what her mother was doing. XQY said she was going to settle things with Xia Qing. Lu Qi told her not to make trouble, XQY ranted about how her father was useless. I kept asking him to help you, and you said I’m making trouble? Lu Qi reminded her how terrible the last time went, the internet would paint them black if she caused another fuss. Lu Qi was no longer popular but was still a public figure; news of her mother quarreling with her father’s ex-wife would destroy her. Lu Qi might as well just quit the industry. XQY asked if she would just take everything lying down, especially with FL’s success. Lu Qi said no, but they cannot do things too obviously. Eventually they would have some bad luck, and they will experience what XQY and Lu Qi were going through. Doing things so directly would be useless and give father more headaches. Have you forgotten why father had loved you? It was because of your kindness and gentleness. Now everything is dependent on him and his ego is taking a beating. He thinks he is not as capable as Xia Qing. Finally XQY relented and asked what she should do. Call him back. Call him? Didn’t you see he just went out to see Xia Qing? Lu Qi actually knew that from the start to the end, Lu never said anything about Xia Qing. But who knows because of XQY’s provocation, her father might really reconcile with Xia Qing. This must not happen, she must not allow FL to steal the benefits from her!

407 – Lu Qi suggested for XQY to stage a suicide to draw Lu back. He came back to see Lu Qi and XQY who played her part masterfully, offering to listen to his problems. Lu was satisfied, this was the version of XQY whom he fell in love with.

408 – Lu appeased XQY, but for the briefest of moments he remembered Xia Qing’s face that was illuminated by the fireworks. Meanwhile, FL and Xia Qing had no idea how close to Lu and XQY came to trouble them. They watched the New Year shows and ate the traditional dumplings and fell asleep with smiles on their faces. The next morning, Xia Qing woke up before FL. ML arrived early, but Xia Qing warned him not to do stuff so early in the day as she is at home making breakfast. ML was like ‘where did my open-minded mother-in-law go?’ but went into the room to watch as FL slept.

409 – FL awoke about an hour later and was shocked to see someone looking at her, luckily it was the ML. She hid her swollen morning face but ML tickled and kissed her. She whined about wanting to brush her teeth.

410 – They had breakfast with Xia Qing and then FL asked ML to accompany her to buy some gifts for their meeting with ML’s family the next day. They returned with bags of stuff. Later that night they went down to light up some fireworks; a car trunkful of them. After the spectacular display, ML asked Xia Qing’s permission to stay. At first she thought ML meant for the night, but he clarified: He wants to stay here with the FL from now on. FL already bought pajamas for me, it would be convenient.

411 – Her son-in-law’s face is getting thicker and she could no longer control him, what can she do? Since he had decided, she can’t be bothered and decided to wash up early to sleep. FL prepared his pajamas and new clothes and went to sleep with her mother. Surprisingly ML did not try to sneak attack her. The next day ML took FL to his family home. Grandma had been waiting restlessly; Grandpa knew because she had hidden her identity and now felt guilty. She asked if she should put on heavy makeup, Mother Shen reminded her that she too was there as well. Grandma said FL won’t be angry with a senior. Shen quipped that FL won’t get angry with her too because she will be her mother-in-law. Grandma fussed over the food preparations. ML and FL finally arrived.

412 – Grandma still felt guilty enough that she actually pushed Mother Shen in front first so that the first person FL saw were ML’s parents. She greeted them normally; Mother Shen also calmly smiled and invited her in. Grandma felt something was wrong even as ML introduced them. FL greeted them politely and Grandma couldn’t resist asking if she looked familiar to her. FL knew she can’t puncture her deception and leaving her with no face, and so FL said she saw her with ML during the film premiere. Grandma very much appreciated her tactfulness and called her intimately. FL then said at first she was shocked but enough time had passed. Grandma shyly explained how she was too curious to know who had snagged her grandson’s heart and hid her identity due to nervousness.

413 – Mother Shen suggested for them to sit comfortably and Grandma took the opportunity to shoot at ML, why haven’t you invited FL to sit down? ML knew he would be the scapegoat for the day. Just as FL had sat down, there were more visitors. It was the other branch, Han Dongping’s family. The elder son Han Zhuoling was older than the ML by a year and worked in the US, while the younger son Han Zhuofeng (20) was a sophomore at the National Academy. Grandma mentioned that FL would be going to his school; Han Zhuofeng acknowledged it with a disdainful attitude because she had transferred in without going through the tough admission exam. He thought ML had indulged in her and she was using him. Even her success was because of ML’s backing. Han Dongping was glad that his son voiced out their displeasure. Grandma was unhappy, and ML abruptly called Zhuofeng to follow him. Zhuofeng meekly stood to follow, but his father Dongping said he could talk right here. He did not understand how his son was so easily cowered by the ML.

414 – It was a test of wills and Zhuofeng was caught between ML and his own father. Eventually Zhuofeng followed ML out. In private, ML asked if Zhuofeng no longer respected him because he had grown up. Zhuofeng said no but ML pointed out his attitude to his sister-in-law. Zhuofeng protested that they were yet to marry, and besides things could still change. ML said it would never change and Zhuofeng tried to placate him, he had never seen him that angry. ML told him: You have been disrespectful of Lu Man, and you ask me not to be angry? Let me tell you, Lu Man is my face, is my life. You being rude to her is not giving me any face, you making her uncomfortable is wanting to take my life”. Zhuofeng vented that FL is not worthy, and ML exploded: “I’m the one not worthy. How good she is, you don’t know and you don’t need to know. But if you really want me to say it, then you are nothing compared to her. Not just because she is my girlfriend, but because she is far stronger than you”. The 20-year old Zhuofeng was unconvinced, and ML actually grabbed his collars: “Don’t you dare say that she is no good. Han Zhuofeng, there is a limit to my patience. I love her unwavering heart. What’s more, had she offended you? Does she need your approval? Who I like doesn’t need your consent. Han Zhuofeng, you are not allowed to say such things in the future. I will only have one woman in my life, Lu Man. She is now my girlfriend; she will be my wife in the future and your sister-in-law. This will never change! Whoever dreams to change this… will be my enemy!”. Zhuofeng honestly was only grousing earlier, but ML did not even want the possibility of hurting FL. He was so shocked that he could only ask ML if he really like her that much.

415 – “Yes, I like her that much. No… I love her.” Zhuofeng still thought FL was unworthy; actually no woman this day was worthy. ML said: “I don’t care whether you accept her, she doesn’t need to ask you to accept her or to see your face. But there is one thing, no matter how you feel in your heart, you must be polite to her even if you’re just pretending. Being rude to her is being rude to me. It is up to you.” Zhuofeng finally relented but still said that he will not give her a smiling face, ML said you think your smile is worth much to her? They returned to the living room. Zhuofeng was still resentful, surely FL have begged the ML to make her look good, maybe that was why ML was so protective. But FL did not pay him any attention. She talked to everyone but ignored Zhuofeng. He got scolded by the ML and in the end she paid it no mind! Han Dongping was not happy to see his son be taught by ML and now eating a loss from FL, but Grandma and Mother Shen felt nothing. 416 – FL smiled and told grandma that if she was bullied she would find ML first, insinuating that Zhuofeng would need to get in line if he wants to help. Before Zhuofeng could interrupt, ML gave him a warning look. FL then continued: “If Zhuofeng needs help, he can look for me”. Zhuofeng gave ML an aggrieved look, but ML said proudly, “You are not her opponent”. After lunch, ML gave FL a ride home. Zhuofeng rushed out to tag along, wanting to be dropped off near his studio home as he sat in his father’s car earlier. ML ordered him to sit in the back, and during the journey Zhuofeng ignored FL to converse with the ML only. Then he noticed that ML was sending him first. “Why didn’t you send her home first?” Zhuofeng asked, and FL answered: “Because I’m the girlfriend”. You might be ‘brothers’ but you need to step back when a girlfriend is involved.

417 – Zhuofeng complained: “If I have a GF I would send her home first”, to which ML asked, “Oh, you have a GF? Well, when you have, use your own car to send her home, don’t get in mine” as Zhuofeng was a 3rd wheel. FL pitied him and bid him goodbye, but Zhuofeng said he would not be seeing her again, because she would surely drown in the entertainment industry. FL knew what he was thinking and smiled, reminding him that they would surely meet in school. ML told him to “go away” and drove off. Zhuofeng wanted to go home, but in the end helped them to get the necessary things. Once it was done, ML shooed him away. “You ruined my last day of rest and now kick me away after you’re done?” He insisted in following them into school for the admission. As school would begin tomorrow, there were plenty of students in the campus.

420 – Han Zhuofeng’s popularity isn’t small: he had not flaunted his family background but one could guess he was rich. Together with ML they attracted a lot of attention, and a train of admirers followed them until they disappeared into the building. FL reported herself to a Director Li who has a displeased face and quite brusque, much to ML’s annoyance. As FL filled in the form, Director Li said: “I don’t care how much you have done to come in like this, but since you have come, study well and be a good student and don’t bring outside nonsense into the school”. The principal had told him that a student would be transferring in, nobody knew the relationship between FL and the ML and the principal did not dare to ask. Thus the Director did not like the vagueness of her background, he did not like the entertainment industry and who knows she might have been shady to get in the movie earlier. He bluntly warned her just because she was in the movie, she better not bring along the mess from the entertainment world. The young and beautiful chose to enter National Film Academy, while the National Academy of Drama was more conservative. FL who was signing her name paused at the last stroke.

The "father" is a sorry ass of a father. He's now in jail, the stepmom dies, the step/half-sister died the same fate as MC which is getting burned to death by the scum man. The scum man got a severe burn from the struggle with half-sis after burning her, then was killed by the half-sis ghost.

MC will get a stepfather who dotes on her like a real dad. The stepdad was MC's mom first love and boyfriend but was separated because of stepdad's parents and his ex-wife's scheme. Stepdad never slept with his ex-wife and never have any child together so he really took MC like his own daughter. Later the stepdad and MC's mom had a baby boy.

I started reading the MTL while recovering from sickness. The setting where the father favored one daughter over the other reminded me of Rebirth to a Military Marriage: Good Morning Chief (which has been completely spoiled btw, search in this forum).

If you're reading this now I assume you have caught up to ch237 of the translations and know who's who. FL (Female Lead) and ML (Male Lead), etc etc.

ch238 to 320
-FL saves the movie star from a falling light fixture with a kick
-she caught the attention of the martial arts choreo who wanted a replacement for an injured actress. This choreo Mi Qiansong was "saved" in this timeline because of the burglar who harmed him in the previous life had already been arrested.
-the director and choreo were brought to the ML and was told that the FL was his GF. they were truly impressed by her demonstration of martial art background and line reading and decided to sign her to a contract. she insisted on adding a clause not to reveal her relationship.
-Lu Qi and the step-mother later turned up at FL's home with a modest fruit basket to ask FL to drop the role and pass it to Lu Qi. FL told them it's impossible due to a penalty clause, and besides it requires physical acting which Lu Qi is loathed. they left after verifying with an insider that the payment terms were quite low. but they still thought to sabotage the FL: if she could not go for filming she would be burdened with paying off the penalty.
-on the day of the flight to the film location, XQY (step-mother) and LQY (father) had some men blockade the door, blatantly revealing their plot to activate the penalty clause. unfortunately for them the police were immediately on the scene due to ML's guards and the duo were arrested and detained for 15 days. This was then leaked to the paparazzi. But FL was delayed long enough to miss the flight but ML used a private jet to send her.
-Meanwhile, Lu Qi and her assistant arrived at the set, saying that she was there to replace FL. The director was doubtful as Lu Qi kept black-mouthing the FL... only for her to arrive just in time and got rid of her. FL told her to check on her parents as they are hot news now. As they left, Lu Qi's assistant finally had enough of her abuse and quit, leaving Lu Qi stranded with her luggage.
-the first day of filming had no parts for FL, she was there to observe as a newbie. a senior actress with a bit part was irritated by the favourtism as FL even got a preferential hotel room. Meanwhile the ML had arranged for someone to prepare home-cooked meals for the FL in the hotel.
-on the day of filming the crew had to climb a mountain to a temple. On the way FL encountered a crabby old woman with a sprained ankle and her middle-aged daughter-in-law. the old woman insisted for FL to help her up to the temple. FL's companion was annoyed but FL eventually agreed to give her a piggy back. FL saw through the lies of the old woman and deduced that she was ML's grandmother. FL kept dropping hints that she suspected who she was and that unsettled the grandmother into creating more holes in her story (eg that the grandma was "same age as bf's grandma" etc etc. eventually the grandmother got off to have her temple appointment.
-the filming proper: the senior actress harangued the FL, warning her not to make mistakes. the irony is that the FL was flawless while she herself kept making NGs, causing the director and the male actor to lose patience. eventually filming pulled through for the day.
-they returned to the hotel to rest, only for the FL to encounter the grandma again. "coincidentally" they were neighbors and she would visit the FL later. As the meal was prepared in FL's room, the grandma really appeared. She was first annoyed that the door was locked and then scolded FL for opening it anyway for a stranger. She warned FL not to develop scandals with handsome actors in the industry. FL said that her boyfriend was "the best" and this mollified the grandma somewhat.
-after dinner, ML called his mother and grandma: he knows they are there harassing his girl. he told them that he was coming over, they thought he would be busy with work but he said he already missed the FL. grandma and mother were frightened into packing to leave immediately and took a flight back... only to be greeted by the ML right after they had disembarked. he was never going to the filming area as he was busy, he had lied to them. grandma was annoyed that he would do this to protect the FL.
-filming progressed smoothly. one day the senior actress had a coffee truck sent so that the crew could have free coffee. FL declined as she was holding a thermos of prepared broth and that she doesn't drink coffee. senior actress was making a deal out of it but FL told her bluntly that she had been hostile all this time, she didn't dare to drink her coffee. if their positions were reversed, would the actress dared to drink something she had offered?
-FL approached the martial arts choreo Mi Qiansong who also did not drank the coffee. The actress continued to make a big ruckus but Mi Qiansong stood up for the FL. Eventually the director came over and FL said the coffee truck is just a publicity stunt for the actress to be a trending topic. The actress was stunned to have her plan revealed and thought her assistant leaked it, but the director told them that the FL was a marketing/publicity genius who even won the Golden Finger award; of course she would see through such a thing.
-at this point Xiao Chen arrived: President Han was treating the whole crew to the local hotpot specialty in absentia. The actress thought it was the director's treat, but FL bluntly said "it's my BF's treat for the whole crew". they thanked her, causing the actress to be face-slapped. Her coffee truck had been completely overshadowed. She thought Xiao Chen who came over was the BF. After dinner when Xiao Chen was sending FL back to the hotel, the actress's assistant covertly took a photograph for future use.
-FL was surprised to see ML in her room. kissy kissy, slept together without doing anything. next morning they talked about her future, whether she want to make an acting career or continue her studies. as they ate breakfast they considered the schools of choice: FL wanted to avoid the academy where her ex and Lu Qi were in. FL then revealed how she suspected grandma: there was no information on her but there were photos of her mother, it was easy to draw the connection.
-that day after filming while ML was still asleep resting, FL decided to prepare dinner personally. she surprised everyone with her skill of cooking since city girls do not like to get their hands messy. After it was done she dragged ML out to eat her food. This was spied on by the senior actress who noted it was a different person from Xiao Chen, another photo was taken.
-meanwhile FL's mother was plotting her own revenge. she contacted the paparazzi friend and gave a recorded statement so that her ex-husband and sister would be hot news. Lu Qi's career was on the verge of dying but FL's mother wanted to completely bury them all. The moment LQY and XQY were released they were rushed by the paparazzi, and the recorded statement was played loudly in a loop. it immediately attracted a lot of attention. LQY was furious and tried to stop FL's mother after breaking out of the encirclement; only to be stunned by her revitalized health and looks.
-he demanded for her to stop, she challenged him to sue her. she was not afraid as it was all true. a passing citizen believed her and sympathized with her. FL's mother thanked the auntie and then left with the paparazzi friend, giving him permission to edit everything as he wish for maximum impact. ML informed FL that this was trending everywhere. She was worried but he had trusted men protecting FL's mother.
-filming has wrapped up and another hotpot dinner was arranged, this time by FL herself. the senior actress wanted to join in but was bluntly refused, she knew her apology was insincere. the senior actress could only make fake news about how the director and the FL were having an affair and by having her assistant posting a misleading photo of them going to the same hotel.
-the paparazzi friend called FL to tell her that the fake news about her was trending. ML had people to investigate the source and discovered it was the senior actress's assistant. the news was suppressed, and the director was informed. FL told him that bad news would still be publicity for the film. Instead she would release bad news about the senior actress when the film was near release to drum up interest. The director approved and offered to cut the senior actress entirely out of the film. FL returned home to her mother. once more her future was brought up.
-the next day ML offered to enroll FL into school in advance, after the release of the film. more kissy kissy huggy huggy
-FL went back to office work and surrounded by colleagues who asked about the acting experience. they asked if she would continue acting, she said it was interesting.
-there was a call to receive takeaway lunch, FL and Sister Li went down to pick it up. in the lobby there were a ton of screaming young women who had skipped class just to catch a glimpse of an arriving idol, Zhou.
-Sister Li commented that she knew of this idol who had a drug scandal abroad. one of the women overheard this and immediately defended the idol vehemently. Sister Li said that she should be in school, only to be scolded to mind her own business. FL in turn asked if she had learned her bad manners from her idol?
-the confrontation was interrupted by the arrival of Zhou which caused a crush. his bodyguards waded through the crowd, pushing back the hysterical women. one of them forcefully stopped the girl, saying that she was going to touch Zhou. she said she was only waving to get his attention, but she was immediately rounded by the other fans who threatened her for overstepping her bounds. the bodyguard smiled as his mistake had been diverted to the girl. Sister Li was indignant, the bodyguard heard her and raised a hand. FL stepped up to save the girl and saw her bruised arm from the bodyguard's rough handling. She pointed at the distant Zhou and asked why the girl would support someone who did not care about the well-being of his fans?
-Zhou's agent Wang Lu heard this and scolded FL, who in turn scolded him. Zhou as a role model should have advised these young women to focus on their studies. Sister Li was angry as well, but Wang Law merely turned to the fans and asked if they feel wronged. of course they don't. Zhou carelessly said that truancy is bad, next time they should first get a teacher's permission.
-the girl now was disillusioned, and FL took her to the infirmary to be treated. even the doctor asked if her pain was worth it, and the girl finally realized she had been a blind fangirl. FL advised her to back to school, that she can be a fangirl, but to find someone worthy who would advise her to study over wasting time chasing idols.

FL reminded her that studying would be important. Sister Li chipped in that FL was also an actress reminded her to support her film. the girl thanked them and introduced herself: her name was Xu Ning.
-since they were late with the takeaway, Xia Mengyu made a snide remark. Sister Li told the office what had happened. then they were called into a meeting, and they saw Wang Lu in the conference room.
-Wang Lu recognized FL and Sister Li as the meddlers. Deputy Wu did not know about the earlier encounter and introduced Wang as the agent of Zhou Yu Xing, a with a successful online drama. After he had become popular, there is a video of him gambling and drinking and making fun of his fans. most of the office said the PR job was impossible, but Xia Mengyu spoke up to make trouble for the FL. She said the FL had won the Golden Finger and this intrigued the agent. FL refused to whitewash for Zhou. Xia continued to say that she had a full month break, she should take the job.
-Wang Lu asked for FL's name and told her not to waste time, quickly make a few plans before he leaves for another PR firm. FL state her refusal once more. Wang was furious, but FL said even if there are repercussions for FL it was Han Corporation's internal matter, not his problem. Deputy Wu agreed and Wang left in a huff. Sister Li then explained what had happened. Deputy Wu understood but warned that next time they could not allow their personal dislike to interfere with their jobs again.
-Suddenly Wang returned because he was waiting for them to change their minds. He was confident, and soon Vice-President Yu arrived to greet him very familiarly. Wang then pointed out those who had offended him and the director immediately wanted them to apologize. He brushed aside Deputy Wu and Wang then brought up FL's success with Du Lin's case. He wants her ideas but planned to shoot them all done just to spite her.
-VP Yu asked for a deadline, Wang replied tomorrow. the VP was hesistant but agreed and ordered FL to work on it. She refused, and Wang belittled her inability to work quickly. She refused again, it was never about the time, she never wanted to take the case.
-VP Yu was angry and Xia took the chance to pour more oil into the fire. Deputy Wu scolded her, how dare she speak out of turn. VP Yu who heard Xia's words agreed with her. Once more he asked if she would take the case, once more she refused. He told her to leave the company.
-VP Yu threatened those who would dare to speak up to leave with her. And if you guys don't take the case, leave anyway. Of course, the ML chose this timing to appear. He was with his assistant Zheng Tianming and General Manager He Zong. He Zong realized the relationship between ML and FL, he shared a look with Zheng who silently confirmed his thought. He Zong felt lucky that he never crossed paths with FL yet, and thought the VP whom he disliked had jumped into death all by himself.

321 -VP Yu was surprised, but quickly summarized the issue to the ML and pointed out the source of the problem being the FL. ML asked Deputy Wu asked about their criteria in choosing cases, he said they have a lot of possible clients and some of the more problematic ones are not worth the trouble. ML made sure that Deputy Wu confirmed that they are able to pick their cases at leisure. The VP tried to interrupt, but the rest of the office spoke on how he had barged in trying to force them to help the scandal-ridden Zhou.

322 - ML very simply said: "The person you're trying to get rid of is my GF". It was a bombshell that shocked everyone not in the know, especially the VP and Xia. Internal monologue from Xia about how the Fl was too lucky and her recent acting role must have been because of ML's influence. jealousy etc etc

323 - ML asked the VP if he wanted his GF to leave, VP stuttered that he wouldn't have dared if he had known. ML grilled him mercilessly, and he told agent Wang that the PR department would not accept the case. Even if they did, he would immediately veto it. He also said that Zhou could hide and not take any jobs until the scandal dies down, if he doesn't like it he can pay the release clause of his contract. Wang knew that if he waits it down, Zhou's star power would disappear; and yet if he breaks the contract now he would still have the scandal around him and therefore unable to get another company to hire Zhou. He then asked of the VP still wanted to throw his weight around, he too quickly slinked away.

324 - The matter settled, ML gently said goodbye to the FL and left. Outside, the VP was waiting to make his apologies but was stopped by assistant Zheng who said the VP still did not understand his fault. It was not about the FL but the way he tried to influence the PR department just to curry favor with a star. In the elevator, the ML lightly scolded GM He Zong: how could he have let this useless VP survive for this long? He have the GM permission to get rid of the VP. Meanwhile FL's colleagues wanted to know the full story, she apologized for not revealing her relationship in case they thought she had slept her way up. Sister Li said her being the ML's GF would spread quickly in the company.

325 - FL said no, she had made the ML promise not to reveal it so that she could work comfortably on her own merits. She hopes no one here would leak the info, the colleagues stared pointedly at Xia. Other than agent Wang and the VP, the only one on bad terms with FL was her and if there was a leak, she would be blamed first. She quickly promised not to do so. At noon, FL went to ML's office to have lunch as usual, only to be greeted by the VP outside. He begged her to put in a good word with the ML. He then realized too late that he had offended her once more by doing this in full view of other workers; forgetting that she wanted to be low-key.

326 - Assistent Zheng then took both of them to a meeting room. The VP apologized once more but FL told him that he still did not know his mistake, that he was throwing his weight around because he was a VP. She said it's useless to ask her for forgiveness as she is indeed vengeful, and besides she is just a small staff worker of the PR department. It is not up to her to make big decisions; besides the ML would not have placed his personal dislike of him over his talents if he had any. The VP could only regret. Two days of normalcy later the FL received a call from the movie director who said the film would be released earlier as its tone was not suitable for the festive Chinese New Year period. He told her to join the publicity tour. Netizens began to question why the FL being just a PR staff who won the Golden Finger award would be billed ahead of the actress Bai.

327 - The criticisms even spread to the director for choosing an unknown for shady reasons. He was furious at the idiocy of the actress Bai: isn't she afraid that hiring such influencers would cause the film to fail as well? The director then called his peers and told them to freeze the actress Bai out of their projects. He told them that the FL was the ML's GF but she was hired based on her real abilities. The director did not feel guility about doing this to the actress Bai: she had offended the ML and would never work again anyway. The ML's grandmother read the online comments and was furious that the FL was being slandered. How could they say the FL did not do well, she surely did. ML's mother laughed, have you seen the film? Grandma insisted that she knows the FL would do a good job.

328 - It was obvious that grandma was now protective and even supportive of the FL despite her crabby nature. She wanted to hire her own influencers, but ML's mother stopped her. Why, do you not care for your daughter-in-law? ML's mother smirked, oh, now you admit that she will be my daughter-in-law? Jokes aside, ML's mother believed FL would know how to handle things. Grandma asked if she was not worried, ML's mother said it would be better to call ML. Grandma tsundered saying nevermind. ML's mother admitted she was worried, prompting Grandma to quickly ask her to call the ML. ML's mother then said "nope, I'm not that worried after all, I can wait". Eventually Grandma caved in and asked her to make the call. They called ML who was surprised by their concern. They asked how FL was dealing with the problem, how is she going to survive in their family if she allowed herself to be stepped on like this.

329 - ML told them that FL was collecting info on the actress Bai, Grandma insisted that he help the FL quickly. He told them he already have, the information was in his hands. But they are going to promote the film and would wait. Grandma was unhappy at the delay, but he told them that the FL was concerned on negative impact on the film and not just on herself. Grandma approves. She told ML's mother to leave a supportive message on FL's official weibo. Meanwhile the idol Zhou was stewing together with his agent Wang. They saw the promotional ad for the film and recognized FL's name and verified that it was her. Zhou was angry and Wang warned him not to leak about the relationship between ML and FL. Zhou said he was not that stupid to give FL free publicity.

330 - Wang said Zhou could find money to pay for the release clause or just wait it out. But if he offended the Han Corporation, they had the influence to kick him out of the industry. Zhou scoffed at the idea of the FL being the ML's gf: didn't the VP say that everyone was shocked? Then it must mean their relationship was not public, it must be because the ML did not take her seriously. Even so, Wang warned that she currently had the ML's favor. Zhou said it would be easy to get people to spread rumors, he is not responsible for the behaviour of his fans. He then went into his fan chatroom and allowed them to gossip about FL and the film. They began to mobilize a boycott to 'protect' their idol.

331- Because of their online protests, FL's name began to grain traction. The PR department was angry but FL was calm. Xia gloats inwardly but FL reminds them that she was not a passive person. She went to call her friend Xunzi. Xunzi had resigned from being a paparazzi and had been hired as a an actual entertainment journalist. He too was about to call her, saying he knows about the actress Bai but now wondering about the deal with idol Zhou.

332 - He has prepared material on the actress and just awaiting for FL's go-ahead when this idol Zhou appeared. He wondered about her ability to attract the hatred of people so easily, she told him the story. Xunzi say he can wait on the actress, but idol Zhou should be dealt with quickly. FL asked about the drug scandal, he said although there are photos they were blurry and easily denied even if they had the time and place correct. FL told him to prepare as Zhou would slip up sooner or later and got the details of the netizen who first broke the drug scandal. She then called Xunzi's paparazzi friends who were more than eager to help her.

333 - They warned that it might take some time to dig up some dirt, but FL already had some info. In the past life idol Zhou's gambling news was suppressed and he went on to be a rising star. Later he was reported for taking drugs and after coming out of rehab he lost his star power. FL had seen the news while she was in prison. Since the drug scandal haven't broken out yet she told the paparazzi to stake out his friends as they are known to have drug parties. That night after ML had sent her whole, FL received a call from Sister Li Jie to check weibo.

334 - Xu Ning had posted about being in Zhou's fan club and how she had skipped classes just to chase after him. She wrote about the entire encounter with FL, Sister Li, Zhou's rough bodyguards who turned the other fans on herself and Zhou's ridiculous advice about skipping classes. FL was worried about Xu Ning being cyber-bullied, sure enough there were negative comments about Xu Ning. She messaged her privately to thank her but FL said she should be careful as she was still a student.

335 - Xu Ning said she was not afraid and FL said she know and ended the conversation. Xu Ning was a little doubtful by the abruptness, thinking that the FL had abandoned her. But FL instead went back to the office with ML to get security footage of that day's incident and made several copies. Sister Li also compiled a video of her own. The security guards wondered what the big deal was, they were reminded that FL was in an upcoming movie, of course the boss would be worried.

336 - entire chapter is about FL and ML making out in the dead angle of the office elevator away from the cameras after calling for takeaway food

337 - ML received a call from FL's mother about dinner, he apologized for skipping because they are trying to help Xu Ning. FL then got in contact with friendly media outlets to release the videos while Xu Ning were fighting off the keyboard warriors. The videos corroborates her story, she never attempted to touch idol Zhou and that his bodyguard was handling her roughly. Soon Xu Ning saw the news all over the major outlets and quickly messaged thanks to FL. Xu Ning decided to be her fan and believe that she would rise to the top.

338 - They chat a bit more as the news story unfolded. More people began to post supporting photos in favour of Xu Ning about that day, as well as recordings of the bodyguard inciting the fans to mob Xu Ning. Idol Zhou's non-action and careless 'advice' was also shown. Many began apologizing to Xu Ning, there are few diehard Zhou fans who claim the videos were doctored but were ridiculed. This spilled over into rising interest in the FL and her upcoming film.

339 - Even though her face wasn't clear in the videos, netizens soon found out mocked idol Zhou's fans for picking a fight with a public relations professional. They praised FL's handling of Du Lin previously and that she was a powerful, capable woman. She had gained 100,000 weibo followers even before the movie had been out. Elsewhere, agent Wang berated Zhou for his stupidity. He had told him to lie low and yet provoked the ML. Wang walked out from the partnership saying that Zhou's career was finished anyway. Alone, Zhou called up his sugarmama saying that he would accept her invitation to the Maldives, only to be told that it has been canceled.

340 - Zhou opened his fridge and from a secret compartment retrieved some drugs (ice) and mixed into his drink. Later agent Wang unexpectedly returned to get his things and had his assistant open the door. They saw the obvious signs of drugs in the knocked out idol. Wang had thought Zhou only used marijuana previously, he did not know about the ice. He decisively decided to call the police and left with the assistant, telling him that they should wash their hands off idol Zhou for good. It is better to cut him off than to be implicated later.

341 - The assistant agreed and they went into the car to wait to make sure that the police were coming. How were they to know that their entire conversation was overheard by FL's paparazzi friends? They prepared blow up the matter. The police arrived to knock on Zhou's door, causing curious neighbors to appear. They were questioned and got a very detailed answer about who came and left Zhou's house. Zhou was too delirious to protest when the police broke in and took the drugs as evidence. The moment Zhou was taken out in handcuffs, the paparazi appeared to snap photos.

342 - They managed to get clear photos of Zhou's high face before he was taken away. They contacted FL who was surprised at the speedy results. She told him to break the news but not the details, let the netizens guess who the arrested person was before publishing the full information the next day. The paparazzi was delighted with the haul and offered a long-term partnership with the FL, he wants to be the number 1 paparazzi. Whatever matter Xunzi could not handle, let him do it. She honestly told him not to expect too much, but she would indeed work with him if there are other potential news. She really did need some friends in low places after all, and in exchange she wants any heads up in case of any slander or rumors of her. She trusts him because he was introduced by Xunzi. As instructed, the paparazzi then posted the breaking news in his very large weibo account. Very quickly Zhou became the prime suspect.

343 - Zhou's fans defended him, while other stars who had similar identities insinuated quickly post their alibis to keep themselves in the clear. Only Zhou, his agent and assistant remained quiet. The fans could only attack the paparazzi's weibo, but he said clear evidence will be posted soon. The fans then thought FL was behind all this, which in turn get remarks how they are basically admitting it was really Zhou who got arrested. FL did not pay attention to the internet wars. The next morning, official news posted photos of the drugs and Zhou's face. His fans melted away, having no defence against the obvious evidence.

344 - One person quit the fan club and many followed. The few remaining hardcore fans think that all these videos must be the work of FL. They caused her name to trend online, accusing her of trapping Zhou. FL admitted to it very bluntly: she was provoked and she fought back. You guys are provoking me, I will take it out on Zhou afterwards. She won't hide or change. You guys think about it yourselves. Her powerful response got her many positive responses who mocked the Zhou fans.

345 - Her weibo followers rose from 100k to 700k, which astonished even herself. Zhou's hardcore fans were frightened to stay out of her way, not even daring to comment about her film. As ML was away on business, FL decided to go shopping for clothes for the movie's premiere. She browsed at an affordable but still respectable store only for someone to call out to her. It was ML's mother Shen and grandma. Such coincidence, much wow; but Shen knew that grandma had called ML to find out where FL was.

346 - Shen long suspected that FL knew who they were and thinks FL was playing along with the grandma. Grandma was in a generous mood, she was also afraid that FL would be snubbed by the stores and so decided to help her pick out some clothes. It's your lucky day, grandma told FL. FL then pointed out the clothing she had eyed at earlier, grandma asked if her great BF did not give her spending money to buy more expensive clothes. FL said she didn't need to overspend, she's not the main lead of the film and she wants something she could use as everyday wear later as it would be too wasteful otherwise. Grandma was surprised that ML did not splurge on her, she actually did not care as it's common for couples in love to induldge. Grandma found FL to be very sensible and self-reliant. FL explained that she prefers to solve what she can herself, buy what she could afford. She would seek his help if needed, but for this one piece of clothing she can handle it herself.

347 - If she constantly relies on him, wouldn't she tired him out, wouldn't be no different than a leech? She loves him and so will want to lessen his burden together. Grandma was very happy and moved by her sincerity in caring for the ML. Grandma really admired the way FL had threatened Zhou's fans earlier. From the start to the finish of the Zhou case, FL did not rely on ML and solved the problem herself. Grandma happily listened to FL's clothing choice. Her style and modest choice gained the approval of Shen and Grandma. They paid for the clothes and FL happily offered to bring them for lunch. Here Grandma was unhappy, for FL had called Shen by an intimate term and yet still called her by a more distant term.

348 - FL did this because she was afraid of being rebuffed by Grandma, but now that the subject was broached she immediately changed her phrase and called her more intimately. Grandma was happy again but now insisted that they go to FL's house for a homecooked meal. FL thought they should meet her mother and called ahead without telling her who the guests were. They were invited in and FL explained how she had met them during filming. They exchanged names and it did not occur to FL's mother Xia to even think about ML's family. Soon the atmosphere between Shen, Grandma and FL's mother became friendly; even though Grandma had an ulterior motive for visiting.

349 - Grandma wanted to know Xia's character and could see how mother and daughter were cut from the same cloth. She casually asked if Xia still played the violin. Xia was surprised but explained how she wanted to be like her father who was part of an orchestra but ultimately she let him down. Even FL did not know of this. Grandma asked her to play a piece, Xia still had the violin handed down by her father. FL helped her retrieved the box, she could see how it was carefully placed and cleaned despite never playing it.

350 - FL then remembered about the kitchen, causing Xia to remember that how FL had been meticulous and cleaned up after herself leaving her with little to do for her own daughter their entire lives. Xia did not take out the violin as it was time for lunch. Grandma praised FL's skill but Xia remembered how bitter it was for the FL when her father divorced her. She had survived on school canteen food, and then secretly cooked in the dorms during the holidays. When she was forced to drop out and work for Lu Qi, FL did not even have a time to eat. By the time she returned home the rest of the family had eaten and had leisure time. Even their servant could be confident of three meals a day and would not need to stay up late. Yet somehow the stepmother could still twist things around to say that it's FL's fault for staying out late every night and miss dinner.

351 - Xia remembered how FL would go cold and hungry because of overwork, and that is why she would do her best to not burden the FL ever since she left the family. After the lunch, Xia took out the violin and played. There were some mistakes but it was very pleasing and heartful. Grandma and Shen praised her.

352 - Grandma said she was good enough to open classes to teach as a hobby. FL thought it would be a nice way to keep Xia occupied. After a while Grandma and Shen left amicably, and FL finally told her mother who they were. Xia was nervous but agreed with FL that they have made a good impression. Naturally FL messaged ML about the meeting, however he was busy and only replied two days before her movie premiere. She knows that he couldn't be there but will have a video of the reception for him. Just as ML wanted to type a reply, a soft female interrupted him.

353 - ML was actually meeting composer Wang Juhuai who had earned critical success in the west. He has a niece, Wang Qianyun who was also present. ML's father Han Xijin were childhood friends with Wang Juhuai, and later ML often tagged along with his father's business trips to meet him. However, Juhuai had a scheming younger brother and relatives. Once they found out about Han Xijin, they would always appear whenever he visits Juhuai. Even now, Wang Qianyun was pestering with the ML, eager to use both him and Juhuai for their own hollywood ambitions. She boasted that she was influential in the production department of Mex and could help him, even though she was only an assistant. ML bluntly told Juhuai that he hopes to see him privately next time without these hangerons.

354 - After he had left, Juhuai scolded his niece, he really did not want her to be mucking with his personal friendship. He never told them that ML was visiting and yet they still came. Wang Juhuai then ordered his butler to find out and fire whoever that had leaked the info and warned his niece not to repeat this. She felt wronged and asked for help, only to be refused. He had already done enough for her and her parents. He told her to give up, the ML would never like her. She insisted as long as he was single, she had a chance. But uncle Juhuai was brutal in his honesty and reminded her that her current job at Mex was because of him as a courtesy, she does not have the actual ability.

355 - He drove Wang Qianyun out, but she did not learn her lesson. She actually went to ML's hotel to find him, only to be told by the lobby that he had already checked out. She swore that she will find him the next time he returns. It is the day of the movie premiere. For convenience the actors of the film were staying at 5-star hotel nearby. FL did not stay there, she only went on the day to change her clothes. She had planned to do her makeup alone but ML had Assistent Zheng bring the prestigious Shi Xiaoya to do it.

356 - This was seen by senior artist's assistant Xiaoli who in turn informed her. she did not believe FL had such pull to get Shi Xiaoya.

357 - The actress Bai then told Xiaoli to find a way into FL's makeup room and ruin her dress. She quashed her worries and pushed a utility knife into her hands, the assistant was shocked as it was not something from the hotel; meaning the actress had prepared it in advance. Xiaoli was most reluctant, she knew how FL had dealt with idol Zhou.

358 - The actress threatened to fire her, leaving her with no choice. Xiaoli made her way to the makeup room and really saw Shi Xiaoya. Xiaoli lied to FL saying that the actress sent her over in case she was nervous as it was her first premiere. FL did not believe this at all but accepted it at face value. Xiaoli then excused herself and quickly found a chance to cut the dress on the way out unseen.

359 - After the makeup was done the ruined skirt was found, there was a large cut in it. Xiaoli was immediately the first suspect. It was too late to get a replacement, even Shi Xiaoya was at a loss. FL said she was a fashion student once and decisively cut the skirt and modified it with ribbons.

360 - the skirt had been modified into something completely new and everyone praised the FL. They had one thought in mind: they wanted to see the look on the actress's face. Just then the doorbell rang and actress loudly called for her. FL confidently opened the door and swept out of the room for the premiere, leaving her livid. The actress turned on Xiaoli, thinking that the assistant had lied to her. Xiaoli protested, saying it could be a replacement. She could not recognize the skirt after being modified so much by FL.

361 - Much to the actress's annoyance, FL's new skirt garnered much attention. FL then went to the lobby to meet with Director Sun and the rest of the crew. The actress Bai then arrived with Xiaoli. FL had no sympathy for the assistant even though there were palm prints on her face. They then went on the red carpet, with the actress Bai trying to hog the cameras much to the photographers' annoyance. Eventually one of them called out for the lead actors to pose for them. Even FL was called, yet no one asked for the actress.

362 - Despite being ushered by the guards, the actress remained on the red carpet as long as possible. Eventually the film crew entered the cinema. FL had given her mother Xia a ticket but they were not sitting together as FL was with the rest of the cast to greet the audience. Xia could not help but excitedly tell the person beside her about FL, turns out she was sitting with Shi Xiaoya, and they exchanged greetings.

363 - After the director and lead actors, it was FL's turn to greet the audience. Her popularity was not smaller than theirs. Elsewhere in the audience were ML's Grandma, mother Shen, father Han and Grandfather Han who regretted their terrible seating and wished he had brought binoculars. Grandma was snarky at Grandpa Han who said he had no interest in the FL but decided to join after everyone else was going. On the stage, the host interviewed the film crew. When it was lead actress Yu's turn she was asked whom she admired: the FL or actress Bai. Yu laughed and joked that this is a trick question, she will not be tricked into provoking the FL. She completely ignored the actress Bai.

364 - Then it was FL's turn. As she answered her general questions, she saw ML discreetly entering the theatre. He did not go to a preferential spot but instead sat with his family, and she saw Grandma and Shen too and guessed the older gentlemen to be his father and grandfather. Looking at his direction, she thanked the director and the lead actor who gave her this opportunity... as well as her boyfriend who had supported her all this time. The host was shocked by this admission, most starlets would want to keep their relationships secret before establishing their career.

365 - But with this one public statement FL would put an end to any possible misunderstanding. Grandma very much approves and boasted to her husband. Grandpa Han was grumpy, saying how FL was being calculative by doing this (edited: he was actually imitating Grandma who had resisted the FL at the start). On stage, the host then veered to another question about some internet gossip; much to the consternation of the Han family and Director Sun, thinking that there was a plot. The host immediately opened the field to questions and the FL was immediately asked by the journalists about how she had fought an internet war and if she would continue to do so. FL calmly said she would not do anything unless provoked, and when that happens, she will pay it back ten times more. She said this while looking at the host. She had already seen the ML leaving his seat to take a phone call.

366 - The host was worried, she had been told by actress Bai's backers to make it difficult for FL but now found herself threatened. Grandma approves of her hard stance, and then notices that her skirt was different than the one they had bought for her. Shen used her mobile phone to zoom in and noticed it was the same one but modified heavily. ML returned, Shi Xiaoya had told him what had happened and he informed his family. Grandma almost cursed, but Shen calmed her down saying the skirt looked better. ML proudly told them that she was a fashion student until her father forced her out of school. On stage, the stage production crew warned the host on the headset to get back on track. But before she could interview actress Bai, she was told that it was time for the movie even though he had left plenty of time for her.

367 - Even the screen had been shut off for the movie, leaving the host with no choice but to leave. Actress Bai was going to stand up for her interview time, but she could only sit back down and wear the 3D glasses. She glared at FL, but FL was wondering if it was coincidence or that ML had launched his own counter-attack. The movie finally began. Other than the director, no one had seen the final version, not even the main actor. Actress Bai waited in vain for her appearances... up until the end there was none of her scenes and she was not even listed in the credits. When the lights came back up, the film crew were also puzzled. A new host appeared to replace the previous one to wrap things up. Actress Bai immediately sought the director to complain, only to be told to leave it for later in private. They began to leave but FL instead went to find her mother Xia who praised her acting. FL said once she undergoes formal training later, she will be even better. Better than Lu Qi.

368 - FL and Xia dispersed with the audience, only to have the ML waiting outside. He wanted to hold her in a big hug until he realized that Xia was also there. He greeted her "mother" and told her that his family was present, but left in case of worrying her. He was told to bring FL and Xia to meet them in the new year, a tacit mark of approval from Grandpa Han who enjoyed FL's powerful stance on stage. On the way home they discussed ML's business: he had no intentions of working with the Mex company which is discriminatory. He did not mention the other reason: Wang Qianyun. Truthfully, the main reason he would not cooperate with Mex was because Wang Qianyun was there. Elsewhere, actress Bai demanded to know why she was cut out of the film. Director Sun said he eeded to cut some scenes. Unfortunately they were your scenes. The film crew and the main actors were stunned, why was the director so pissed off?

369 - Actress Bai threatened to go behind his back, but Sun insisted he had followed the letter of his contract if not the spirit. She was indeed part of the film, she even appeared in the premiere. But in the end he had the final say in editing. He did not care for her backer, Cao. Actress Bai then called Cao to voice her grievance, she handed the phone over and Sun very bluntly told him that he forced him to put this crappy actress into the movie, she even plotted a scandal of him and the FL. He didn't care about Bai's feud with FL, but she had dragged him in. She did not help this movie and even tried to harm it, if it wasn't for him suppressing the scandal there wouldn't even be a premiere today. Actress Bai's face twitched as she finally knew the reason why her plot didn't take off, that Xiaoli's posts kept getting deleted and buried.

370 - Director Sun continued: Not only that, she even hired influencers to throw shade at the FL and so indirectly harm the movie's blockoffice potential. I have yet to talk to you about this stupid actress, you dare to actually question me first? Cao truly did not know what actress Bai had been doing and knew Sun was really offended. He softened his tone and Sun did not pursue the matter. "Anything else? Let's go" Sun said and the crew now knew everything. They dispersed without caring for actress Bai. FL did not know what had happened, because she was with the ML. They had not been together for a week and ML's longing was obvious. Mother Xia told them to have fun and returned home alone. ML loved his mother-in-law's open-mindedness, she truly does understand her son-in-law.

373 - ML really missed FL, especially with the annoyance that was Wang Qianyun. He wanted FL to be around him constantly to drive away such annoying women and asked if she would follow on his next business trip. She agreed and they fell asleep for a few hours. FL saw it was 3am and suggested for ML to stay over, ML thought it would be strange if he was to share a room with her while FL's mother was in the house. FL told him that he was going to get her room while she herself would be with her mother.

374 - ML was reluctant but eventually fell asleep in her room alone in his clothes. As FL slipped into bed with her mother, she woke her up. Xia asked about ML and FL told her, inadverdantly revealing that the two of them had been in his car for the past few hours. "You should have gone straight to bed earlier" she said. The next morning ML had not yet waken, and Xia remarked that people who are envious of him do not know his responsibilities.

375 - FL agreed. After breakfast she went out to buy some clothes for ML, including male pajamas just in case. She received a message telling her that her modified skirt was trending, people are curious about where to buy it. She uploaded a before and after post and said the skirt had been modified herself after something had happened. It garnered praise but a few saw how the skirt was sabotaged first. The keyboard warriors immediately deduced that it happened on the day of the premiere and narrowed down the suspect to be actress Bai.

376 - 400

376 – The internet was abuzz about how the actress was not in the film despite attending the premiere: surely she had offended someone. To be cut out of the movie, what a payback! FL did not expect a simple skirt picture to blow up like this, it caused Bai’s supporters to swarm over, and idol Zhou’s own hardcore fans followed. This in turn caused Xu Ning to speak up. Eventually it devolved into idol Zhou fans fighting actress Bai’s fans, as they did not want to be associated with a tainted figure like Zhou. After being reminded of FL’s decisive reputation, idol Zhou’s fans quickly deleted their messages about FL.

377 – Actress Bai had not even spoken a word but her plans to blacken the film had been completely spoiled by those Zhou fans. Who even provoked them? The fight between their fans continued. Meanwhile Xu Ning asked FL’s permission to start a fan club for her. FL was doubtful about her fanbase but Xu Ning convinced her. FL agreed but reminded her not to forget about her studies. FL returned home to find ML had waken up and gave him the newly bought clothes. He went back to the bedroom to change by himself after FL refused to help him, only for him to call out for her saying the sizes were too small.

378 – She doubted and opened the door, only for him to pull her into the room while topless. They made out heavily, only to be interrupted by FL’s mother who had just returned from the market. They tidied up and FL snarled for ML to get dressed. “Oh, the sizes are just right”. FL wanted to pick a fight over the trick, but ML cheekily apologized. She swore to buy the biggest size next time.

379 – Mother Xia asked if FL had returned, ML answered yes. FL greeted her mother as she came out of the bedroom, causing Xia to quip if she had disturbed them. ML said “depends on what you mean”, causing the two women to be speechless. As ML was eating FL’s home-cooked food, FL received a call from Xu Fenglai about actress Bai’s counter attack. He was worried that it would badly affect the movie’s box office performance but FL calmly waited until they had finished eating before reading Bai’s self-pity posting: she did not understand that after she had tried her best, she was still removed from the film.

380 – Bai wrote about the bruises and scrapes she had suffered in the cold winter but thought it was worth it to work with Director Sun. But she did not expect to be completely cut out. She wondered if it was because of another actress, she admitted she had conflicts with her. Why did this rookie get so many opportunities while others who worked for tens of years did not get chances? She will not apologize for being straightforward. She will not be cowed into submission, she will fight back! Her fans immediately leapt forward and organized a movie boycott. FL was not worried at all, but Director Sun and associate Xu Fenglai called her after a night of inaction. FL told them to wait it out, saying that even Bai’s fans would need to actually go and see the film first to verify. The fans of the other cast and crew wouldn’t even care about Bai.

381 – FL’s inaction provoked Bai’s fans to ignore what had happened to idol Zhou previously, they crowed about their victory. Bai herself wanted the film to fail so that Director Sun would have to explain himself to the investors. Bai was with her backer Cao who was also displeased with Director Sun previously; gloating about how FL was too afraid to reply. That day ML went for a meeting in S City. Director Sun once again called FL the next morning, saying how he was being hounded by Cao Houlin who had riled up the other investors for a meeting. She agreed to appear in the meeting. As she left, Xia asked if FL wants to contact ML as she thinks the meeting would have unsavory people.

382 – FL said she could solve this herself. When she reached Director Sun’s studio, she was briefed by Xu Fenglai: Cao was actually the smallest investor but he managed to pull in the big wigs, though the biggest was Han Corporation which was obviously with the FL. Director Sun did call FL earlier, but it should be no problem. Inside the meeting room were the CEOs of the other investor companies, Cao and Director Sun. Cao did not like the preferential treatment shown to FL, but was interrupted as Sun introduced the various CEOs. Once it was done, the CEO of Orange Media wasted no time in blaming FL for her bad effect.

383 – FL asked, ‘What bad effect?” The box office because of the bad worth of mouth. FL asked if there’s an actual result, has the box office been revealed already? Xifu Media CEO said cutting out actress Bai was big news on the internet; obviously it would affect the box office. This is based on their experience, they have been investing films longer than you have been alive. Cao added that FL may be a professional in PR, but they know more about movie production and distribution. FL asked what they intend to do then, since this came about because of Bai’s own internet posting that disparaged the film. Shouldn’t they pick on her instead? Cao said Bai’s participation was part of the investment contract, they should be responsible for breaking it. Director Sun said even so, your company is the smallest investor. The biggest investor Han Corporation isn’t even here yet. Cao demanded that FL apologize publicly to Bai, and for her scenes to be added back to the film. FL said Bai is not comparable to director Sun, and she would not apologize because that would admit being guilty. If she really did apologize, then the box office would really be affected.

384 – There are some back and forth before Han Corp’s GM He Zong and PA Zheng Tianming arrived. Immediately the other CEOs became polite. He Zong said he did not know why a meeting was needed for such a minor matter. He was told that about the netizens complaining about Bai’s deletion and criticizing FL and that would affect the box office. He Zong repeated FL’s question: has the box office come out yet? No? Then why are you so sure it would be affected? Oh, your experience? Fart! We are the biggest investor and we’re not worried, why are you so excited? It is obvious you are here to throw your weight around. So you’re here to back actress Bai? The FL is also an artiste of Han Corporation, who are you to point your fingers at her?

385 – Then who should take the blame if the movie bombs? Of course it would be Bai. GM He Zong poured scorn all over the actress. FL repeated that they should wait for the box office before all this. He too was stunned, and then delirious to the impatience of the other CEOs.

387 – The morning box office alone was 80 million, it may very well reach 200 million today. Sun said Cao did not need to wait for the total box office for the day, FL has already won and he could tell Bai to apologize on weibo. Sun then said earlier FL had already told him over the phone that many people will want to watch for themselves to see if Bai was truly cut out from the film. No matter how good a film was, it could not cater to the tastes of everyone. But people are innately curious that this would contribute to the box office. Cao refused to believe it, leading to the FL remarking if he really wanted the movie to flop. Sun challenged him to get his own people to calculate. Before he left, FL reminded him of the bet and that there were witnesses. Cao furiously said he won’t forget, and turned to his CEO friends for backup.

388 – He Zong reminded him that if there was negative impact on the movie from Bai, Han Corporation would sue. He reminded Cao that her contract includes cooperating and promoting the film, to be contrary would be a breach. The other CEOs did not know why Han Corp would place such importance on the FL but knew she could not be offended and thus apologized. They left while embarrassed. Assistant Zheng then gave Cao a final reminder: Sun was a very respected director with a lot of friends, it would be difficult for the meddlesome actress Bai to develop a film career. And since she had offended the FL, Han Corp would blacklist Bai. There will be no negotiation, her career was finished.

389 – Cao knew it would be easy for Han Corp to do this and his smaller company would be helpless to prevent it. No artist would dare to sign with him later because he would not be able to protect them. Zheng told him to get rid of Bai or his own company’s future would be affected. Cao knew the things Bai did were actually quite common in the industry, he truly did not understand why Han Corp would not let the matter go. Once they had left, He Zong apologized to FL for their lateness. He gave her a card saying that she could contact him directly for help if needed. He Zong really wants to curry favor with her. At a club, Cao immediately summoned Bai to join her.

390 – He coldly told her to apologize and admit to everything on weibo. She was incredulous, but Cao told her that Sun’s director friends already locked her out of their projects; and that she had offended Han Corp as well. Bai very reluctantly posted an apology and accepted that her poor performance warranted being cut out of the film, directly mentioning Sun and FL. Her fans were riled up, thinking that Bai must have been unfairly pressured to do so. Sister Li informed FL and she read the post which Bai only admitted to be being a poor actress.

391 – FL laughed and her mother looked over to see what she had replied: “Bai’s fans, we will meet tomorrow”. This one sentence was enough to end their keyboard warring and they began to panic. Xu Ning then sent a screenshot of it to FL, she had spying friends inside Bai’s fanclub. FL then asked to exchange WeChat contacts. This was a big deal for Xu Ning as this meant she would have FL’s personal number. Meanwhile, FL’s fans are mobilizing for their own counter-attack.

392 – Xu Ning asked what she had meant by “tomorrow”, FL casually told her that it was her who exposed idol Zhou’s drug habit. Meaning, she also has dirt on Bai. The next morning at work FL received a call from Sun to confirm the 200 million box office. FL congratulates but warned that there might be a drop off thereafter. FL then called the media outlets as well as her paparazzi friend for the counter attack. It was exposed that before Bai was famous, she was a homewrecker and was taught a lesson. She had been pulled by the hair out to the streets. Then she had plastic surgery and “played” with several businessmen “without limits”. Eventually they financed a few internet dramas but after some time she remained a bit-part actress. She never stopped sleeping her way to the top and even solicited other small time actresses to service her backers.

393 – A famous gossip site then posted a story from a witness who saw the orgy in a club. Some famous names were insinuated to have participated. Bai’s fans naturally came out to defend her, saying that she came from a well-to-do background. But people from her past appeared, reporting that her family used to run a store. Once she became famous, they closed shop and moved away. Even her ex-school mates popped up. The fans kept disbelieving but eventually explicit hidden camera photos of the sex parties turned up.

394 – In another photo even Cao appeared, but he was with another woman while Bai was with another person. Immediately the media picked up on this and the scandal became widely reported. Bai’s fans were stunned and unable to fight back when FL’s fans attacked on the internet. They reminded them about how Bai sabotaged FL’s skirt, and this was the payback. FL herself only asked for them to support the movie, there was no need for her to stoke the fires.

395 – The netizens praised FL’s move: in one stroke she crushed Bai and gave her own film great publicity. As a result the box office continued to get a good showing. Bai rushed to seek help from Cao, but he refused. She began to plead and reminded him of the favours she had done for him. He told her to find someone else to help, he could not stand against Han Corporation.

396 –Bai did not expect Han Corp to blacklist her over the usual underhanded tactics of the industry. He told her about their protectiveness of FL and said she had also offended Director Sun and circle of friends. Cao could not help her, only Han Corp could forgive her. Meanwhile, FL kept receiving investment offers: from upcoming tv dramas and films to even existing ones, they want her to be part of them. Though Director Sun’s film was good, it could not have killed the other competing films without her. They had thought his film would not do well especially since it was nearing the festive period. Everywhere the production teams were trying to find ways to promote their film.

397 – Eventually someone actually called the FL and asked when she would stop her hard tactics. FL bluntly said it depended on Bai, and they understood. That night FL returned home alone to her mother because ML had a meeting. They began to make the traditional noodles to celebrate the New Year. At a hotel, ML and Assistant Zheng was preparing to leave after meeting when Bai suddenly rushed into their car. She had failed to get an official appointment and could only wait for this moment. She begged not to be blacklisted and cited her willingness to do anything.

398 – Bai was entranced after seeing him up close; after all ML was a handsome young man and not a greasy middle-aged man like Cao. ML immediately got out of the car and Bai was dragged out by his minders. “Who gave you the courage to disgust me? Now you will be banned till the end of your days,” ML said. She tried to beg but ML threatened to reveal all the worse things she did. He then ordered for his car to be completely disinfected. Bai was too frightened to even ask for the reason why he was so antagonistic towards her.

399 – Assistant Zheng then used his car to drive ML to FL’s place and dropped him there. ML called the stunned FL to open the door. She invited him in and saw that he was disturbed. ML was happy: he had maintained his composure previously but she had seen through him with one look. He swept her into the bedroom, and told her about how Bai had rushed into his car to beg for leniency. He could see her rising anger and he hurriedly explained that Bai did not touch her, how his subordinates had thrown her out and his car taken away to be cleaned and that he came in Assistant Zheng’s car. He asked if she wished for the car to be changed. She instead lightly pecked him as a reward, but the thought of Bai being so close to her man was irritating. But they flirted a little before ML gave her a deep kiss.

400 – kissy-kissy until FL nearly melted until it was too hard. She quickly retrieved the spare pajamas she had prepared and stuffed it into his hands. She looked down to avoid seeing his face, only to discover ML’s 'brother'. She quickly fled to her mother’s room and told her about how his car was being cleaned, not explaining about Bai. FL thought that ML was sweet for coming to tell her about what had happened and to seek comfort from her; he could have just swept it aside to look strong.

401 – The next day Xiao Chen drove the car over to send them to the office. The moment FL entered the car she could smell the disinfectant. She had thought it was only cleaned, not to this extent. ML was satisfied and praised Xiao Chen. At the PR department FL contacted the media outlet. She had actually planned to end things with Bai until ML told her what had happened. She told them to release everything. Elsewhere the marketing teams of the other films who had relaunched their promotions found their efforts being drowned. This was because FL had tagged each article in her weibo with the simple phrase: actress Bai is not in her movie.

402 – The simple tactic made her movie continue to be top news. The person who called FL previously complained, but she told him that she really did intend to stop but Bai actually tried to approach her boyfriend yesterday. Since things got so hot, it would be a waste not to promote her own movie. Helpless, the execs could only copy her: they all forwarded the trending Bai scandals and mention their films at the end. ALL the movies did the same thing and so Bai’s name became the top news. The last day of work before the Spring Festival, Director Sun called to FL to inform her that she was now an actress in a 3 billion box office movie.

403 – The office congratulated her, even those who had already left to travel back to the rural areas for the holidays called or sent her messages. That night as ML sent her home, he said his grandparents asked if she was free to visit on the third day of the holiday. She agreed, and ML said he would visit her tomorrow. FL returned home to a feast prepared by her mother to celebrate the New Year as well as her box office. Now that FL had such a success, she would find it easier to deflect criticism of her age or qualification once she enters film school. They had dinner and FL’s mother Xia Qing was even healthy enough to enjoy some red wine.

404 – The mother and daughter comfortably waited for the New Year. Over at the Lu family, things were not as rosy. Previously Xia Qing had laid a stable foundation for their company. Now that the company had been hit hard, Lu Qiyuan (FL’s father) found things to be difficult. Xia Qingyan (stepmother) only knew how to spend money and did not know anything about the company. Lu found himself thinking back to Xia Qing. Not onlike XQY not being able to help, she kept pestering him about helping Lu Qi’s own career. He had no one to talk to and became reluctant to return home. Even during tonight’s New Year dinner, he could hear XQY complaining about FL’s movie success while Lu Qi had nothing. Lu was fed up and stood to leave as XQY’s harpy comments about him going back to his ex-wife and FL flood his ears.

405 – As it was the New Year, many of the neighbors were outside their homes setting off firecrackers. XQY’s shrill voice was not weak at all compared to the noise. Lu pulled her back into the house to save face, only for her to throw a bigger tantrum. He ordered the servants to drag her in. She once more accused him of cheating on her with the ex-wife, he protested that he only wanted to go out to avoid XQY. He ordered the servants to keep an eye on her as he went out. He could see hear her accusations as he drove away. There was no where for him to go as it was the holidays. Now provoked by XQY, he really drove to Xia Qing’s place. From his car he could see FL and Xia Qing setting off some firecrackers, their faces were melancholy, as if they were thinking about a lot of things. Lu realized that Xia Qing had never asked for much, never envious of others. He had once told her that he had wronged her by letting her follow him. Yet she was happy with the little things that he would do for her. The fireworks were done and FL and Xia Qing went back in. Lu’s eyes had been on her the whole time. He had lost her. Then he was interrupted by a phone call: “Sir, madam is committing suicide!” Ten minutes ago, while he was watching Xia Qing, Xia Qingyan had put on her coat.

406 – Lu Qi asked what her mother was doing. XQY said she was going to settle things with Xia Qing. Lu Qi told her not to make trouble, XQY ranted about how her father was useless. I kept asking him to help you, and you said I’m making trouble? Lu Qi reminded her how terrible the last time went, the internet would paint them black if she caused another fuss. Lu Qi was no longer popular but was still a public figure; news of her mother quarreling with her father’s ex-wife would destroy her. Lu Qi might as well just quit the industry. XQY asked if she would just take everything lying down, especially with FL’s success. Lu Qi said no, but they cannot do things too obviously. Eventually they would have some bad luck, and they will experience what XQY and Lu Qi were going through. Doing things so directly would be useless and give father more headaches. Have you forgotten why father had loved you? It was because of your kindness and gentleness. Now everything is dependent on him and his ego is taking a beating. He thinks he is not as capable as Xia Qing. Finally XQY relented and asked what she should do. Call him back. Call him? Didn’t you see he just went out to see Xia Qing? 408 – Lu appeased XQY, but for the briefest of moments he remembered Xia Qing’s face that was illuminated by the fireworks. Meanwhile, FL and Xia Qing had no idea how close to Lu and XQY came to trouble them. They watched the New Year shows and ate the traditional dumplings and fell asleep with smiles on their faces. The next morning, Xia Qing woke up before FL. ML arrived early, but Xia Qing warned him not to do stuff so early in the day as she is at home making breakfast. ML was like ‘where did my open-minded mother-in-law go?’ but went into the room to watch as FL slept.

409 – FL awoke about an hour later and was shocked to see someone looking at her, luckily it was the ML. She hid her swollen morning face but ML tickled and kissed her. She whined about wanting to brush her teeth.

410 – They had breakfast with Xia Qing and then FL asked ML to accompany her to buy some gifts for their meeting with ML’s family the next day. They returned with bags of stuff. Later that night they went down to light up some fireworks; a car trunkful of them. After the spectacular display, ML asked Xia Qing’s permission to stay. At first she thought ML meant for the night, but he clarified: He wants to stay here with the FL from now on. FL already bought pajamas for me, it would be convenient.

411 – Her son-in-law’s face is getting thicker and she could no longer control him, what can she do? Since he had decided, she can’t be bothered and decided to wash up early to sleep. FL prepared his pajamas and new clothes and went to sleep with her mother. Surprisingly ML did not try to sneak attack her. The next day ML took FL to his family home. Grandma had been waiting restlessly; Grandpa knew because she had hidden her identity and now felt guilty. She asked if she should put on heavy makeup, Mother Shen reminded her that she too was there as well. Grandma said FL won’t be angry with a senior. Shen quipped that FL won’t get angry with her too because she will be her mother-in-law. Grandma fussed over the food preparations. ML and FL finally arrived.

412 – Grandma still felt guilty enough that she actually pushed Mother Shen in front first so that the first person FL saw were ML’s parents. She greeted them normally; Mother Shen also calmly smiled and invited her in. Grandma felt something was wrong even as ML introduced them. FL greeted them politely and Grandma couldn’t resist asking if she looked familiar to her. FL knew she can’t puncture her deception and leaving her with no face, and so FL said she saw her with ML during the film premiere. Grandma very much appreciated her tactfulness and called her intimately. FL then said at first she was shocked but enough time had passed. Grandma shyly explained how she was too curious to know who had snagged her grandson’s heart and hid her identity due to nervousness.

413 – Mother Shen suggested for them to sit comfortably and Grandma took the opportunity to shoot at ML, why haven’t you invited FL to sit down? ML knew he would be the scapegoat for the day. Just as FL had sat down, there were more visitors. It was the other branch, Han Dongping’s family. The elder son Han Zhuoling was older than the ML by a year and worked in the US, while the younger son Han Zhuofeng (20) was a sophomore at the National Academy. Grandma mentioned that FL would be going to his school; Han Zhuofeng acknowledged it with a disdainful attitude because she had transferred in without going through the tough admission exam. He thought ML had indulged in her and she was using him. Even her success was because of ML’s backing. Han Dongping was glad that his son voiced out their displeasure. Grandma was unhappy, and ML abruptly called Zhuofeng to follow him. Zhuofeng meekly stood to follow, but his father Dongping said he could talk right here. He did not understand how his son was so easily cowered by the ML.

414 – It was a test of wills and Zhuofeng was caught between ML and his own father. Eventually Zhuofeng followed ML out. In private, ML asked if Zhuofeng no longer respected him because he had grown up. Zhuofeng said no but ML pointed out his attitude to his sister-in-law. Zhuofeng protested that they were yet to marry, and besides things could still change. ML said it would never change and Zhuofeng tried to placate him, he had never seen him that angry. ML told him: You have been disrespectful of Lu Man, and you ask me not to be angry? Let me tell you, Lu Man is my face, is my life. You being rude to her is not giving me any face, you making her uncomfortable is wanting to take my life”. Zhuofeng vented that FL is not worthy, and ML exploded: “I’m the one not worthy. How good she is, you don’t know and you don’t need to know. But if you really want me to say it, then you are nothing compared to her. Not just because she is my girlfriend, but because she is far stronger than you”. The 20-year old Zhuofeng was unconvinced, and ML actually grabbed his collars: “Don’t you dare say that she is no good. Han Zhuofeng, there is a limit to my patience. I love her unwavering heart. What’s more, had she offended you? Does she need your approval? Who I like doesn’t need your consent. Han Zhuofeng, you are not allowed to say such things in the future. I will only have one woman in my life, Lu Man. She is now my girlfriend; she will be my wife in the future and your sister-in-law. This will never change! Whoever dreams to change this… will be my enemy!”. Zhuofeng honestly was only grousing earlier, but ML did not even want the possibility of hurting FL. He was so shocked that he could only ask ML if he really like her that much.

415 – “Yes, I like her that much. No… I love her.” Zhuofeng still thought FL was unworthy; actually no woman this day was worthy. ML said: “I don’t care whether you accept her, she doesn’t need to ask you to accept her or to see your face. But there is one thing, no matter how you feel in your heart, you must be polite to her even if you’re just pretending. Being rude to her is being rude to me. It is up to you.” Zhuofeng finally relented but still said that he will not give her a smiling face, ML said you think your smile is worth much to her? They returned to the living room. Zhuofeng was still resentful, surely FL have begged the ML to make her look good, maybe that was why ML was so protective. But FL did not pay him any attention. She talked to everyone but ignored Zhuofeng. He got scolded by the ML and in the end she paid it no mind! Han Dongping was not happy to see his son be taught by ML and now eating a loss from FL, but Grandma and Mother Shen felt nothing. In fact they thought it was fun to see the spoiled and conceited Zhuofeng being given a lesson. Grandma then told FL that she could look for Zhuofeng in school: he had not much skill but be the little overlord there. Zhuofeng protested saying he was busy studying, and besides FL is older and more than capable of handling herself seeing the way she fought back in the entertainment industry.

416 – FL smiled and told grandma that if she was bullied she would find ML first, insinuating that Zhuofeng would need to get in line if he wants to help. Before Zhuofeng could interrupt, ML gave him a warning look. FL then continued: “If Zhuofeng needs help, he can look for me”. Zhuofeng gave ML an aggrieved look, but ML said proudly, “You are not her opponent”. After lunch, ML gave FL a ride home. Zhuofeng rushed out to tag along, wanting to be dropped off near his studio home as he sat in his father’s car earlier. ML ordered him to sit in the back, and during the journey Zhuofeng ignored FL to converse with the ML only. Then he noticed that ML was sending him first. “Why didn’t you send her home first?” Zhuofeng asked, and FL answered: “Because I’m the girlfriend”. You might be ‘brothers’ but you need to step back when a girlfriend is involved.

417 – Zhuofeng complained: “If I have a GF I would send her home first”, to which ML asked, “Oh, you have a GF? Well, when you have, use your own car to send her home, don’t get in mine” as Zhuofeng was a 3rd wheel. FL pitied him and bid him goodbye, but Zhuofeng said he would not be seeing her again, because she would surely drown in the entertainment industry. FL knew what he was thinking and smiled, reminding him that they would surely meet in school. ML told him to “go away” and drove off. ML told FL not to mind Zhuofeng: he had been spoiled for too long. She as his elder wouldn’t need to be polite to teach him. Elder? Well, you’re his elder sister-in-law, that makes you an elder. 418 – The Spring Festival holidays were over. Another half month would be the start of school. FL began cleaning up her desk, causing Sister Li to be sad. FL told her that if there are breaks, she would bravely come back to work. And since she had signed on with Han Corp, there would be things that need her to come. “Isn’t your agent the boss?” Everyone froze, but FL said since she was going to study there would be little need for an agent for the time being. The office sent her off at the door, Deputy Wu finally spoke up and offered his willingness to help if needed. FL nodded and left. Deputy Wu looked at her departing back, wondering if his mother did not say those hurtful words that day in the hospital; would things between him and FL be different? But… there is no ‘if’.

419 – FL was preparing for school. Her schedule would be light enough for her to return home every day to be with her mother. Besides, being 22 she would not know how to mix with the young 18-19 year old girls in her classes. As she and ML never knew campus life, they could only ask Han Zhuofeng for help. “Hello, we meet again” she greeted. Zhuofeng said he would not have appeared if it wasn’t for ML, she agreed; “ML is doing this for me”. Zhuofeng complained that he was being bullied, ML said she was not bullying but acting as an elder. What elder! FL tried to stop Zhuofeng from asking “for your own good”, but ML answered: “Treat your elder brother’s wife as your mother”. Zhuofeng wanted to go home, but in the end helped them to get the necessary things. Once it was done, ML shooed him away. “You ruined my last day of rest and now kick me away after you’re done?” He insisted in following them into school for the admission. As school would begin tomorrow, there were plenty of students in the campus.

420 – Han Zhuofeng’s popularity isn’t small: he had not flaunted his family background but one could guess he was rich. Together with ML they attracted a lot of attention, and a train of admirers followed them until they disappeared into the building. FL reported herself to a Director Li who has a displeased face and quite brusque, much to ML’s annoyance. As FL filled in the form, Director Li said: “I don’t care how much you have done to come in like this, but since you have come, study well and be a good student and don’t bring outside nonsense into the school”. The principal had told him that a student would be transferring in, nobody knew the relationship between FL and the ML and the principal did not dare to ask. Thus the Director did not like the vagueness of her background, he did not like the entertainment industry and who knows she might have been shady to get in the movie earlier. He bluntly warned her just because she was in the movie, she better not bring along the mess from the entertainment world. The young and beautiful chose to enter National Film Academy, while the National Academy of Drama was more conservative. FL who was signing her name paused at the last stroke.

421-440

421 – She asked frankly: “Director Li, what is your problem with me?” to which he flared up. ML sighed and asked him to call for the principal. Director Li angrily told him to butt out, ML said he was biased against his girlfriend, is he not allowed to talk back? He asked him to call the principal once more, but Director Li refused. ML then pulled out his phone and asked Assistant Zheng to get the principal to come meet him. How was Director Li to know that ML was the CEO of Han Corp who had donated plenty to the school? Once more FL asked what Director Li’s beef with her was; once more he threw his weight around as a teacher. FL sneered at him, saying she would give respect when it was due. She chose this place because of the courses and the actors they had produced, she did not expect such a discriminatory teacher who did not check the facts and was biased and judgmental from the first meeting. You are disgusting. Han Zhuofeng at the side was stunned by her frankness. Director Li pointed a finger at FL’s face and told her to leave the school, ML grabbed the finger and demanded: “Who do you think you are?”. The other teachers quickly came over to try diffuse the situation.

422 – Some pleaded on Director Li’s behalf, saying he had a temper; others fanned the flames saying that it was his right as an educator. Principal Zhang finally arrived and ML released the finger and wiped his hand with a handkerchief in disgust. Director Li immediately complained to the principal that he would not accept such a student. Principal Zhang gave him a dark look and quickly went over to greet ML politely. ML said he was there to admit his GF and get her school supplies. It should have been a simple matter and I would have been gone after it was done, who knows I would encounter such a thing, it really opened my eyes. If my GF was alone, how much would she have suffered? Principal Zhang demanded Director Li to explain. By now he realized that ML was truly an important person and tried to play it off as a misunderstanding. The principal then asked around the room, but nobody dared to raise their head. The one who fanned the fires earlier now spoke to support Director Li, saying how he was right to be speak “tough words of advice”, he wasn’t insulting her, was she made of glass? FL replied that the teachers were biased simply because she had acted in a film. It was their first meeting and the first thing he said was for her to lie low and not bring in troubles from outside and affect the other students. What do the evils of the entertainment industry have to do with me? What was Director Li insinuating? There are signs of evil everywhere, even here right now in this office! I have just entered to do my admission, I have yet to say a word and you glared at me as if I owed you something, that I shouldn’t be here. Does enrollment here depend on your looks?

423 – ML told the principal directly: “He insulted my girlfriend”. It should have been a happy occasion for her to return to school, he knew she had been looking forward to it. And now this unpleasantness. He regrets letting his GF choose this place. Principal Zhang was aware of how Director Li does things, but it was not as if he could simply remove him without reason. As he had power over the courses and students, nobody dared to offend him. Just last month there was a student on a work-study program had a birthday and was given a RMB200 shirt. The principal now snapped and berated the director for being too arrogant after the leeway he had given him. Do you really think Mr. Han would need to defame you, what good is it for him? Rather, are you worthy to be defamed by him?”. Before the ML’s eyes, Director Li was just an insignificant little person. In time, he will even forget what he looks like, leaving no trace of his existence.

424 – “Mr Han?” Director Li sneered. “Who is this second generation silk-pants? Principal, you have completely lost your own face as well as our school’s!” “He is the biggest sponsor of our school every year. The library, the laboratory, the theatre are all his investment and construction!” Now Director Li finally knew who ML was. No other school had a grand theatre; it was their trump card against the Film Academy. When it was opened, it increased the enrollment for the Drama Academy. The principal continued: “Every year Han Corp has practical internship for our students in their productions, big or small they would never forget to allocate for our students. Now you dare to say he’s a filthy second generation silk-pants? Why don’t you find one like him? From the start you have been making baseless assumptions, and you dare to stand here yelling in my face and making excuses for yourself?” His rant caused those who had grievances with Director Li to feel heartened, that someone was finally teaching him a lesson. ML took out his phone and called Assistant Zheng. “How is the planned investment for this school”, causing everyone to be quiet and the principal to be nervous. They had handed in many proposals before Han Corp agreed. Zheng said “It is being studied”. “Stop the study and terminate. End all our plans here and cancel every internship and productions in their school”.

425 – “Understood”. ML thought it would take too long to list them out and repeated to cancel everything. “Everything?” “Do you want me to repeat myself?” “No, I understand,” Zheng said, but he thought FL was going to study there, what was happening? The principal began to stutter, without Han Corp’s backing there would be no way for them to compete against the Film Academy. ML: “You will not receive plans to use your stage for film and television in the future. If you wish to look for other people, I would like to see who would have the capital and the courage to do so”. The principal nearly fainted and roared for Director Li to apologize. Now the director threw aside his face and apologized to FL. ML knew what she was thinking and asked if she still wished to study here.

426 – FL had to admit that the first impression of the school was just too bad. Despite the school’s history, teachers and alumni, she could never feel comfortable here any longer. Therefore she said: “Forget it. They don’t welcome me and look down on my transfer, then I won’t do it”. ML: “Good”. Principal Zhang finally drew the connection between the recent plans for construction and ML’s request for the transfer, it must have been all for her and her alone. He quickly apologized, others hurriedly added that they have seen and enjoyed her film, that she would quickly be one of the school’s representatives in the future like Zhang, Liu and Gao who have won international awards. FL thought it was ridiculous for them say such nonsense just to keep her, even if she was confident there was no way for her to accept such flattery. “Well, I do think it’s time there would be a graduate to be on par with those three seniors,” she said. Everyone was stunned by her thick faced acceptance of the praise. 427 – Using money to bribe ML’s GF was useless, but the principal said: “The money is secondary, main thing is the honor. Every year our school as a quota for a short-term exchange program in New York University. The only ones qualified are our school-” “And the Film Academy,” FL added. “I can get such things on my own merits. Besides, I have no connection with your school. Let’s go,” and ML nodded. ML then said: “Zhuofeng, do your transfer application too.” Zhuofeng was stunned but ML did not feel guilty about making this arbitrary decision without Zhuofeng or his parents’ consent. “From today onwards our Han family will completely withdraw from this school”. Principal Zhang could not stop them. He returned to the office and told Director Li that this would be reported; Li protested that he did nothing. Principal Zhang shouted him down. The problem was too huge and even Li’s backing would not be able to save him. Outside, Zhuofeng asked where he was supposed to transfer. “National Film Academy. Lu Man is going there, of course you have to follow. You will be there to protect her, if she gets bullied and you did nothing, you can come get a job at Han Corp because you no longer need to dream to be a film director”. Han Zhuofeng was indignant: “Afraid that she would get bullied? It would be fine if she doesn’t bully others! The moment she opens her mouth, someone will die!” FL: “Young man, mind your words.”

428 – Zhuofeng sulkily said he wasn’t afraid of her. FL apologized to the ML about changing her mind. ML did not mind, besides he had already pulled out everything, if she stayed it would be embarrassing. FL thought that even if Lu Qi and He Zhengbai were at the film academy, she would bear with it. One week later they went to the Film Academy with Zhuofeng. They met with Principal Liu who had heard of the woes of Principal Zhang who was now tearing his hair out trying to find new sponsors, but nobody dared to step up and help someone who had offended Han Corporation. Director Li too was being investigated and his past doings were being dug out. Therefore Principal Liu very enthusiastically welcomed FL to their school.

429 – He had even prepared the forms, books and schedule for FL and Zhuofeng. He was already talking to them familiarly. FL said ML should go back to work, Zhuofeng was there to help. ML’s eyes threw daggers at Zhuofeng who complained: “It was not my idea, I didn’t even say anything!”. ML reluctantly left for his meeting. Principal Liu observed the importance of FL and offered to show her around. ML then gave him permission to talk to Han Corp for investment, the principal immediately promised to protect FL. ML then reminded Zhuofeng of his threat one last time. The principal then guided FL and Zhuofeng who insisted they go to her class first. FL offered to help carry some of his books, he declined saying ML would skin him alive later.

430 – Now that ML had left, the principal ventured to ask and Zhuofeng directly told him that FL was ML’s GF. The principal then led them to FL’s class and introduced her to Teacher Hong who had seen her film. Hong said that his friend Director Sun had also praised her acting to him despite her lack of formal studies. Principal Liu entrusted FL to his care. Zhuofeng then said he was in the class for film directors, find him if she needed help, of course it would better if you don’t look for me at all. But do you know where the director classes are, you better ask for directions from people. Right, do you have a mobile number? FL smiled and let him talk by himself, and he really continued: “Forget it, let me give you my number. I’ll write it down for you. Another student commented the film was good but not that good to get 3 billion box office, a lot of must have been because of her PR tactics. FL said how good a film is subjective; people just need to give the domestic movies a chance because they lack publicity and viewer confidence. It deserved its earnings. A student quipped: “Then publicize me and make me famous!” whereupon FL joked: “Like Zhou or Actress Bai?” FL has gained the friendship of the class and the monitor Zheng Yuan introduced herself.

433 – At the other end of the class were Zhuang Tingting and Yu Jingxian who disdained the FL to curry up Zhang Xiaoying, a hopeful starlet. Tingting wanted a film role, but Xiaoying reminded her that she would have to take time off from school to do so as she would not get an exception like she did. Tingting could only hope for the next year. The class then moved to another room for dance lessons where the teacher Mr. Yao recognized the FL.

434 – The trio of Xiaoying, Tingting and Jingxian were then called up to demonstrate a scene from The Monkey King. Teacher Yao was disappointed when they quietly agreed for Xiaoying to be The Monkey King, because that meant she was unwilling to challenge herself in ugly, smaller roles. He criticized that she was too conscious of her image to be cute and lovable. She did not take it to heart. Next Yao called up Zheng Yuan and FL and himself. FL saw Zheng Yuan’s hesitation and allowed her to get first pick. Zheng Yuan was still wishy-washy and FL directly asked for the lead role, while Yao acted as the opponent.

435 – FL immediately went into the role and acted out a lazy, disinterested Monkey King, disregarding her image. She dominated the scene with Zheng Yuan and guided her. As Teacher Yao approached, she acted surprised, then alert and then defensive. Yao praised her attention to detail. He frankly said he thought FL’s success in the film was pure luck: she was not the main lead and had few scenes to show off her skills. But she took each scene seriously and had a good showing. The students should immerse themselves into the role, not to adapt the role into themselves. Zhang Xiaoying of course felt targeted. Later she invited FL to lunch, ignoring Zheng Yuan beside her.

436 – Xiaoying assumed that FL knew of her already, but FL said yes, she had heard the teacher call her name earlier. She repeated the invitation and FL agreed since they were already going to the cafeteria. Xiaoying was privately aghast that FL as a star would eat with ‘normal’ people but she wanted to network with her; even though she. She asked to talk to her and reminded FL of the caste system: stars don’t eat with ordinary people. FL was stunned but refused and went to rejoin Zheng Yuan.

437 – Zheng Yuan praised FL’s performance earlier. They became friends, while there was a cold war with the snubbed Zhang Xiaoying. Zheng Yuan told her that the class was divided into factions, and ZXY had more people. Another friend arrived to gush about the new student Han Zhuofeng and gossiped about how ZXY was chasing him, much to FL’s amusement. When Zhuofeng really arrived, ZXY excited went to him but he bluntly said he did not know her and warned her to stay away.

438 – ZXY kept asking if he truly did not recognize her, much to his impatience as she was blocking the door. ZXY thick-facedly announced that he pretended to do so to make an impression, and praised him for it. FL who saw all this was trying to stifle her laughter; she wished that ML was there to see it too. Zhuofeng called out to FL to stop hiding, and ZXY still could not believe that she was not Zhuofeng’s objective. She snidely told FL to leave them alone; she had been polite before but did FL really think one movie was enough to be on equal status with her?

439 – She continued to rant about how FL was just a supporting actress in the movie anyway. FL had enough of her shit and wanted to get past ZXY who raised a hand. Han Zhuofeng stopped it and scolded FL for letting him get entangled with such a madwoman. They abandoned the incensed ZXY so that Zhuofeng could tell FL that the ML had a high fever but kept working at the office even now. FL did not know that ML had returned from France even though they shared a phone call yesterday. FL decided to visit him and Zhuofeng offered to send her. As they went back to FL’s class to get her things, only to encounter ZXY who demanded to know their relationship. Zhuofeng said it was none of her business.

440 – ZXY actually grabbed FL’s wrist but Zhuofeng pulled her off. FL told Zheng Yuan that there was a family emergency and left to inform the teacher. Afterwards they went to Han Corporation where FL was greeted warmly by her former colleagues. She then saw Assistant Zheng and asked why she was not informed. It was ML’s order, and he asked for her to lessen the blow if he got blamed by the ML later. She nodded and went in to see ML had fallen asleep in his chair.
