A year or two back I read a novel where the ML in the beginning was not in love with the FL and he slowly began to fall for her, but still took care of his previous lover's affairs. The FL said something along the lines of "she would abandon him before he turned his back on her" or something of that sort. And I really liked it! Basically: - a novel where it's not the usual ML falls for FL, now we face slap everyone that opposes us (I do like face slapping tho) - FL strong enough (whether mentally or physically) to rely on herself and not just end up with the ML, easily - any type of novel is fine (korean, chinese, japanese) as long as there is english translation - i prefer historical/fantasy type novels, but modern works too if it's really good - a novel without romance is perfectly fine too as long as it has humor or perhaps fluffy familial stuff going on

I Reincarnated as a Noble Girl Villainess But Why Did It Turn Out This Way? A really good one. I just started reading it and 70 chapters in there's still no ML. The Fem Protag poisoned her villianous family at the age of 2 at the start of the novel, trained to be a warrior at the age of 5, fought in a war at the age of 6, and slowly progressed into a badass viscountess as she grew up.
I actually tried to pick this up and repick this up multiple times. I just couldn't find it in me to like it for some reason.

i second crossing the future, it's not easy being a man and dominion's end. it's really hard to find a story with a female MC who isn't oppressed by a domineering ML and treated like a child who exists to be either abused/ pampered or constantly rescued by the ML. Chinese novels aren't usually know for their strong female MCs, i can't think of any Japanese female MCs that weren't either abused or suffer from "i am a carpet walk all over me" syndrome other than Kino's Journey, and i haven't read any Korean novels with a female MC at all. Maybe the Manhwa Kubera?

For a Prosperous World The caveat is that this book takes place in historical China rather than Medieval Europe, but it's great at everything else. On top of that it tackles a topic that is rarely seen anywhere, and it features some pretty good characterization and writing. Honestly, this is one of the best young writers I've read in a long time. Sadly, this book shouldn't qualify. The beginning of the story is a great fit, but a lot changes later on. Hell, the protagonist doesn't even get to do cool things any more by the end of the book.
