Hello, I'm looking for some nice light novel / anime / manga to read while sick in bed, so here are some points: What I want: Europe medieval era like world (live standard, diseaseas, technology level... ) Sole MC - preferably female. Race, age, social standing and so on doesn't matter. NO romance for MC (why is romance in evertything? you dont put dragons to every romance novel either...) - MC has no romantic interest, not in past, not in present, not in future. And if there is someone romanticaly interested in MC it has zero effect on story. Relationships are OK, if there is no romance involved from either side. It can focus on Survival, Adventure, War, Politics, Economy, Technology, Drama... just no romance It can be fantasy / isekai / historical Can be serious or comedy MC can be OP / Strong / Normal / Weak (in whatever field)... but whatever she is, it should stay that way from begening to end. Magic is OK, but it shouldn't be overpowered or superconvinient (something like DnD magic system capped at level 3 or so would be ideal). The longer the better. So thats about it. I welcome any suggestion even if it is off from what I want. But Europe like world setting and NO romance are must haves and medieval like should fit (so no guns, no "looks like medieval but everyone has modern standard of clothing / living / healthcare ...", ...) Some somewhat OK example is Ascendance of Bookworm, but lately it starts to smell of romance . Goblin Slayer without all that romance... why do you put it there? Why? WHY? Would be great story without it. :'( Thanks for any tips.

Kusuriya no Hitorigoto - The main characters romance is very sidelined but as @Seryph3 put it. its a mystery novel at heart with romance in the sidelines
Azarinth Healer fits. Isekai. Female MC in a medieval world. She becomes strong but is only the MC of the story, not the world. There are plenty of things out there that she cant handle. Plus, the MC has sexual partners but their trysts never steal the focus of the story.
I read those and these do not fit: Evil-like Duke Household, Magi's Grandson, Parallel World Pharmacy, Knights and Magic, are too heavy on romance for my taste The Man Picked up by the Gods - Magic is too convinent + romance problem again. Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear - would fit, but magic is too powerful & world is too neat, clean.. Youjo Senki in medieval setting would be dream come true, I love these novels. I'll check the rest, thanks
Just curious but how is it heavy in romance? 7 volumes in and Jinshi and Maomao have yet to even hug or hold hands or be seen in public together
Uhm Im not 100% sure if it will be to your liking but try Lord of the Mysteries Although it is a CN novel it is western based with alchemy and magic as themes I guess. Its pretty hard for me to explain the exact theme but it is steampunk so there are mixes of modern tech, most of it is still medieval in its bases I dont know if this would stray too much from your criteria. Another one that would be a nice read is Black Iron's Glory very medieval in setting. No romance as far as I've read. One more of my favorites in this category would be Trash of the Count's Family.
But: 1. Those feelings are there (and thats what matters, I don't mind two characters hugging, kissing, having sex, going out, marriage... as long as both do it purely for profit, not because of feelings). 2. Their actions are affected by those feelings (e.g. that rescue).
I'll check them thanks. I don't mind whetever it is Japanesse, Chinesse, Korean or whatever, as long as setting is Europe based.
